Asynchronously Split Party

So, the party in my campaign is just about to split, at least temporarily, between two floors. I would like to move a subset of the players to the new map. I've read over here https://wiki.roll20.net/Page_Toolbar#Split_the_Par... that this is possible, but we are playing asynchronously in a play by post format, where we're not actually logged in at the same time. When the other players are not logged in, I don't see their player icons to drag and drop. Is there another way to do this that doesn't require me to try and get everyone on at the same time? Thanks!

Hi, Geoff. As you found on the Wiki Help Docs, the main way of moving Player individually to another Page requires GM to see the Player's logged-in avatar/name at the bottom. I believe (not 100% confirmed but should work), if you (the GM) can get in the game synchroneously with each player one at a time, you can drag them to their page, and if those participants log out, when they log back in, the player should still be parked on the page where you put them. This relieves you from needing to get all the players at the same time as each other, per se, but would still require GM to enter the game table at the same time as each individual player. The other possible techniques I can think of right off, involve subscriber perks for Plus or Pro users on Roll20. One method is with dynamic lighting, you can put 2 boxes on the DL layer, and put Player tokens in the different boxes, with certain settings they won't be able to see each other or move out of their box/level. Another subscriber perk is called the API, and subscriber users could ask on the API forum to find out if there are ways to do this through API scripts.
Ok, thanks! Reading the API docs, it looks like it would likely be possible (I'm a programmer, so it was my first thought after routine googling for a solution didn't pick up a perfect fit). I'll have to decide if I want to upgrade to pro, or if I want to use a workaround of some sort; I might end up just collapsing all the maps into one image and using fog of war to block visibility.

Geoffrey, if you try your later idea, Fog Of War isn't per-player, it's on everyone, so it's hard to use that to split visibility. You can place 2 map levels on 1 map that they can all see, and tell them not to look at the other players' side. "You guys don't scroll to the bottom section; and you other Players scroll immediately down to the bottom section". Dynamic Lighting actually has that effect (as-if Fog Of War could be adjusted per-each-token). So that both sets of Players could be on the same page, but separated and unable to see the other side. If you explore the API route, look into the API Repository and see if such a script already exists or what other users are doing with it. There is an API sub-forum for subscribers that comes up here in the forums too.
