For fans of the Final Fantasy legacy, a tribute RP is being posted to enjoy it's character driven narrative style, and combat. Currently seeking 6 members, experienced or new, @ <a href="https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/6934/final-fantasy-sentinel-of-souls-a-tribute" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/6934/final-fantasy-sentinel-of-souls-a-tribute</a> RP consists of a multi-dice system (not strictly D6, D10, or D20) with familiar equipment and gear from the games. Attributes are custom to the game as to mimic the various playstyles of the genre, whether it's job or class related, or character (survival) driven. An AMA thread of questions is posted there, along with a glimpse of what's being offered, but I will list it below the AMA I've written up as a bonus. No time schedule yet, as it will vary on the participants. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reply to this for any questions regarding this RP. Keep in mind that
the story is in progress of being written, so general answers can be
given General Info: Q - What is FF-SoS? A - FF-SoS is a
tribute to all Final Fantasy story lines by using it's premise found in
every story; a group bands together to save the world from destruction
and calamity through personal struggles and character development. Q - Is FF-SoS based off of a particular story line, like FF4, or FF7? A
- No. While it does not have a direct link to 1 world specifically
like Cocoon, Vana'diel, or Gaea, FF-SoS shares the same premise as the
other worlds with it's own original landscaping, but having familiar
elements from several of the previous Final Fantasy games. The game is a
fan-appreciation game, and will not outright copy locations of previous
buildings, organizations or scenes, but will pay tribute with familiar
settings: a city that is learning to harness the life energy of the
planet like Midgar, an academy that trains military personnel like
Balamb Garden, a city to unite the city-states together in commerce and
protection like Jeuno... These and much more, where some areas rely more
on magic, and others on modern technology. Q - How will character creation work? A
- Players will have a plethora of options, guided by the GM, to make a
character they'll enjoy playing. You can choose a job-based role, such
as Red Mage or Paladin, and use some of their familiar trade marks to
survive the world. You can also choose a survivor type build that
varies on the character's traits and adaptiveness rather than a set
tree, much in the like of Cloud or Squall. There are also hybrids
(similar to FF9) where they have job-like traits meshed with survivor
aspects to give a blend of options without being too limited. The
system is meant to be flexible and incorporate several aspects of how
Final Fantasy is enjoyed. Q - Can I be Cloud/Squall/Zidane/Titus/(main protagonist)? A
- Not directly. Rather, you can make an Image Model that copies
elements of that character, without taking their exact storyline. You
can be an experimental soldier, or a maiden of honor, or an agent of
chaos like some of the beloved main characters of other Final Fantasies,
but not their exact original character. As each new final Fantasy is
born, no two characters ever keep their exact qualities, but will often
mimic them or pay tribute; the same with this game. Q - Am I stuck as a Human? A
- Hell no! The quirkier the character, the more likely you'll have fun
with it. Any pre-existing Final Fantasy race that a player has
controlled can be used here: Moogles, Chocobo's, Humanoid Cats,
Experimental Dogs, Mithra / Mi'qote, Tarutaru / Lalafell, Viera,
whatever. If there is a limit at all, you cannot assume the entity of a
Summon/Eidolon/whatever, as they are a temporary being. Q - How will gear work? A
- As many of the Final Fantasy games have various gear set-ups, this
engine will use basic elements : Head, Torso, Gloves, Legs, Feet, 2
Accessory, And Weapon/Sub-weapon. Q - Will there be materia/draw magic and junctioning/L'cie brands? A
- In short, yes. In more detail, characters will have various systems
at their use, but will need certain requirements to utilize them. This
will come by the means of character development, but if you're looking
to do something extreme, such as being a L'cie with Materia summons and
both White and Black magic, it IS possible, but will take a LOT of
burdens to live through, and self sacrifices to achieve... Such is the
way of power. Each character will have a familiar form of
magic/magecite/materia that they can use, but additional forms will not
be immediately accessible. Q - What system is this based on? A
- While not directly attributed to a d20 system alone, the game will
function with a custom system to utilize every aspect of previous FF
titles that makes use of D4's, D10's, D20's, D50's, D100's, and more.
Core stats will include STR(strength), DEX(dexterity),
CON(constitution), AGI(agility), INT(intelligence), MND(mind),
CHA(charisma), and PTY(piety) to affect their weapons, magic, defenses,
attacks, and overall accomplishments. Players will control 1 character
(and their pets/minions/summons, should they acquire them), and perform
as them. Each character trait is being analyzed and formed to fit into
this game, so if you remember something from a Final Fantasy game,
chances are it can be emulated in this realm. Like the idea of eating
your enemies when you're at your limit break? You can, if your character
is tailored to that style in creation. Q - When does this RP start? A - When we have 6 people. A time will be worked out between the GM and the players where everyone can be available. Q - What if I miss a day? A
- If your character is not doing anything in particular to the main
story line where a certain action is reliant on their presence, then
they are "Deployed" on a service. This deployment will net the missing
player any Exp or rewards those who are present have acquired. Q - What do I need? A
- Nothing really, except an open mind, an appreciation for any Final
Fantasy, and time. No experience RPing required, as I'm willing to
teach/train.
