Exporting a map.

Hello,  So I have built a map in roll20 for an upcoming game. I would like my players to always have access to this map and as such I was hoping copy the map either to put it in a handout or host it on an external site. The map is to large and detailed for me to simply use print-screen. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hello ArcticNerd, due to concerns of copyright issues regarding the assets used to build maps in roll20, there isn't really a way to export it the way you are wanting.  Your best bet would be that print screen option you mentioned and stitching it together, then saving it into a handout.  Maybe have a few handouts if you want more resolution. others might have better ideas.
Humm... I suspect you are right. If I had thought about it before I started building the map I could have print screened all the market place items I wanted to use, assembled the map in my image editor and uploaded it back into Roll20. It would have allowed me to do everything I wanted and would have saved on in game loading times. Maybe next time I will go that rout.
I had the same problem.  Don't feel bad.  I ended up going with the print screen option.
I personally use maptool to put together my maps before uploading the flattened image to Roll20. I still leave some details out so that players can interact with them in Roll20, like moving chests or tables around, but especially for large, tiled dungeons... I do all that mapping beforehand.
I have Maptool downloaded but I don't really see why it would be better than a program like Photoshop. I would still have to export marketplace images I wanted, assemble them in another program and then import it back into Roll20. It would be much easier if Roll20 had an export system, or even a way to merge a bunch of items into one drawing. As is the Roll20 system feels very restrictive. I am essentially rewarded for building maps in third party programs. It make me less inclined to upgrade my membership.

its not really a map making software... its a platform that allows for map making. slight but important difference.

Arcticnerd, one feature makes this a lot easier: download from the Marketplace.  In many cases (most cases I believe), you do not need to Screenshot or Export Marketplace content.  You can simply download it after buying it.  Much (most?) of the Marketplace sets are licensed and enabled for the buyer to download & use in an external program. To Download your Marketplace Sets, go back into the Marketplace to the Set that you purchased. On that page look for a Download link. The references/advice for Print-Screen is only for when you already assembled a whole map from multiple pieces on the Map Layer and you need to get a composite image.  This technique is not needed at the front-end if you already bought the Market set, but you have not built the map yet and you're getting ready to build the map. For those times, download from Marketplace then try Photoshop (or a free graphics editor, GIMP) or any program.
I didn't know I could do that. Thanks for the tip.
