New to the genre

Im new to the tabletop genre and was wondering if anyone could go through the basics with me.
Any particular system you are looking at?  I'm starting a Dungeon World campaign with some new players on Wednesdays.  Let me know if you are interested, or if you are on when I'm around I can give you a few ideas of what tabletop is all about.  There are several streaming games if you want to watch, but the best way to learn is to jump in and try a system.
Im interested in D&D 5e and it depends on timezone for wensday; I have started watching thanks!
Pacific timezone for my campaign on Wednesdays at 6:30.  Dungeon World is a bit different than D&D.  I played D&D 3.5 for a couple of years, and I like the system, but I do really like the flow of the DW system.  The rules are simple in DW and it really lets the game role-playing develop because of that.  Maybe 5e does that a bit more than 3.5 did, but I like the flow of DW because of that moreso.

3.5 for life! Sorry, had to interject ;) If you need help with 3.5, star wars Saga/d20, Ars Magica let me know. I know those really well. Sorry I can't help you with 5th edition. Good luck though! Send me a PM if you need anything. And welcome to the best form of gaming ever created.
I guess I could try 3.5 since I managed to find a pdf for it. also I live in central time.
