I'm trying to stay as close to the rule book as I can but with this style of campaign I've had to make an allowance for Loot. If you want to play D&D in a classic sense then you'll opt for Random Loot . This means that magic items will drop according to the module. I do not modify anything - it's straight out of the book. You have to be present to lay claim to any of it. I have no say in its distribution - it is handled entirely by the party. You also gain access to the Armory. This is a "bank" of magic items that have no direct owner so they're available to everyone at the start of each adventure (session), and return at the end of each session. If you dislike loot discussions or want more control over your character's capabilities you'll opt for Faction Points . These represent an investment your faction is making into your character's success. Each time the Dessarin Alliance achieves an important victory a Faction Point is gained campaign-wide, and these are retroactive. These may be spent according to this table (click the Equipment tab at the bottom). Don't think of it as a magic item shop, but as gifts from your faction that came from other adventures or previous fallen adventurers. When you choose to spend your points, send me a PM reply to the one titled with your character's name. In that PM include the item's description from the DMG, your preferred picture of the item, and what its background is (rolled from the DMG as well). If this item is for a newly-created character also include some background on how/why your faction awarded you with the item. Please note that when magic items drop those people who chose Faction Points have no claim to any of it, and have no access to the Armory. Currently there are Two Faction Points in the campaign. One Faction Point will be awarded with the clearing of each Elemental Temple , and for the death of each Elemental Prophet . Another Faction Point will be awarded for the completion of the quest(s) involving the Missing Delegation . Disclaimer: As always this is subject to change as issues crop up. My goal is to make each option viable and attractive without wrecking the loot progression present in the campaign.
