Getting started..

Hey guys! For a good while I've wanted to try tabletop rpgs and such but I've never gotten around to it till now. I'm interested in D&D, The Call Of Cthulhu, and Warhammer (fuck yeah Bolt Thrower!!\m/ haha). I have a friend willing play with me and another whom I haven't asked yet but would probably say yes. But I have NO clue how to start/what to do etc. like at all. should I just like, google a rule book, and attempt to set something up on here and just wing it? orr what?
Id suggest finding a established group, or a GM that offers one shot campaigns so you can get a feel for things before jumping in as a GM yourself. As a GM you have to control the pace of pretty much everything, and if you've never played these systems before it could wind up being really intimidating for you and wind up ruining your experience with RPGs.
hm.. good idea. I have absolutely no experience. I shall quest for a on shot campaign or whatever, with a GM that can tolerate my noobishness! thanks
Be sure to check out the LFG feature: <a href="http://app.roll20.net/lfg" rel="nofollow">http://app.roll20.net/lfg</a>
Watch for One Shot Open Games run by Ajax. I use the Pathfinder Game System but you will understand how any Game System can be used in Roll20. Most new players find that these games are informative. There are usually a few veteran players too, and they are always very helpful to new players.
I second Ajax. I'm in a one shot with him at the moment and it's fantastic. I feel like I have much more confidence about roll20 thanks to his campaigns.
