[LFP] For D&D 5E Homebrew Podcast/Twitch

Edited 1445637001
We recently lost our Cleric due to work-commitments (he will be missed *sad-cry*) and we are looking for a sixth member to join the party! The game takes place in my homebrew world of Titeros, consisting of three major continents: Kalerus, Ioden, and Dragoris. The game is mainly centered around a loosely converted Dragon Mountain - however there is plenty of space for developing story, delving into backgrounds, and so on! IMPORTANT NOTE: The game will be played weekly on Saturday, 7 PM CST. We are also working on making these games into a podcast - so you should be open/okay with this! We also will occasionally play twitch, but this isn't until later down the road. But fun comes first and foremost. As I'm sure there'll be many questions, we will do our best to answer them! The party currently consists of Human Barbarian/ Drow Warlock/ Human Wizard/ Human Paladin/ and Human Rogue. Please either reply to this post or PM me with a little about yourself and what character you'd be interested in playing - if you write up a background prior to interview, please ensure your character has a reason for wanting to get to the mountain, this is so that the party has a cohesive goal. This will not be the only game we run, we're shooting to have multiple stories down the line to keep things exciting! Thanks for your time, looking forward to hearing from you!
I've neither used this site before, nor have I used 5E character builds. The starter set is lacking any serious detail for a good character's creation. I also have limited experience as an actual player (sounds dumb, I know). When I first played with my old crew, we played 3.5E and I was elected as the DM since we were all noobs, and I never had an opportunity to get any real PC time in. I can understand if you choose not to use me, seeing all my handicaps, but if you're interested or feel like giving me a shot, you can email me @ roman.a.thompson@gmail.com . I'm available for play daily 10pm-6am EST, but I'm sure I can make group times work. Ezekial Leonharte; Human Fighter; illegitimate son of the God of War My go-to character is a Fighter who is the bastard of the god of war. He has twin long swords, called The Soul Swords (or The Soul Blades, Blades of Souls, etc.) that are legendary throughout the lands. They are his trusty swords, and will not allow anyone else to use them. They are indestructible, and are vaguely conscious of their existence until later levels (if you're ok with this, then I can be gifted them later in-game, otherwise, scratch that part, and nevermind the sword description below, and I'd be glad to work with whatever mechanic you come up with). Being the son of a god, he doesn't die, per se. Instead, his physical body perishes and his soul gets transferred to the Soul Swords. While in the blades, he can speak, but his actions are drastically limited until he materializes his physical body again ( after 1d8 days). When he comes back to life, the swords and he take opposing alignment shifts. Both he and the swords begin at TN, and when he comes back, he comes back either NG, or NE (GM's choice), and the blades shift in opposition to him. This can be pretty nerve-wracking for Ezekial, because he'll need to perform saving throws sometimes to prevent the swords from doing whatever they want. The blades also become progressively sentient as Ezekial levels. This allows them to take on a personality all their own, as well as move on their own. Dante; Human Bard I have also created a Human Bard (which is new for me, since I don't branch out into magic much). Dante will be studying from the College of Valor. He was a young boy when he was taken into slavery by Orcs after his family was murdered by bandits, and he was found wandering the hillside, a scared little boy. He was taken to their camp and sold a few weeks later. He was sold to a travelling warrior who took pity on the boy. Dante traveled with the warrior through many adventures, watched his many deeds, and has chosen to tell the world about the mighty savior of his youth. He performs in small taverns and inns, earns his night's stay, and muses the locals with the warrior's deeds. His spell catalyst is a pan flute, and he is also proficient in the viol, his own voice, and the lyre. It's rare that an inn or tavern have a viol to play, but when they do, he never fails to please the crowd. Dante is a bit of a douche bag, though. To fans, and to total strangers, he is overly polite. But to people that know him well, he is known to be an asshole. Albeit funny when he gets set off on a rant, still an asshole. Everyone else laughs while he roasts his victim, but he gets red and angry in the face, almost to the point that he wants to punch someone or something. He also has no tolerance for morons and people that are rude or unkind for no reason. He also has a knack for sexual harassment of the most amiable nature. Again, only to people that know him well. I have a webcam and a mic on my Chromebook, but my HP Chromebook doesn't let me use Skype.I would love a chance to test either of these characters out and challenge a DM for once, and I would love a chance to test out this site for the first time. I'm still a beginner to D&D, but I adore the game and would love a chance to play extensively. I love RPGs. Particularly the Souls series. I fell in love with the gritty game play and challenge, and made use of my paychecks to make sure I had enough for a spare controller just in case. I’m currently into The Witcher 3, having just beaten the majority of the game, save for the Gwent card game, and I’m waiting on my next paycheck for the new DLC quests. The Bard's excuse to go to the mountain is, of course, to have a new story to tell and to measure himself against his warrior savior. The fighter's excuse for going could be that he had been having dreams about the mountain lately, and he hopes to discover the nature and cause for these dreams.
Hey Roman! Thanks for the reply! You've got some interesting character ideas here, indeed with strong personalities and stories. However, we do require that you have Skype as it is a fairly common platform (and what all of the group uses) for voice/video conferences.
God damn it! I'd totally be down for this if I didn't work so late on Sat's. I'm an experienced podcaster and twitch user.
Id be interested in playing, ive been trying to find a new gm for our Saturday Spelljammers game, I have skype, mic, and facecam (if needed), im new to the 5e system but Ive played pathfinder, 4e, savage worlds, you can check my profile for more info. Classwise I usually play a Rogue, if you have one already I can choose a class based on what everyone needs, ive played some games with some people on youtube twice, but not on a podcast, that would be a new one for me
SInce we havent played our sat game in 3 weeks im assuming its dead
Keep the applications coming! We begin interviews the week leading up to November 7th.
I would like to join, I have been playing dnd 3.5 for about 15 years now and still do evrey friday night. Been looking for an online game to play aswell and been interested in dnd 5e. and would like to play a wood elf druid named Firhowl. i am from the netherlands so it makes me gmt +1 but it mean i start at 1 am your time on the sunday so that is ok for me to play around 3 hours after that. I use an logitech g35 headset and i never had complaint's about the microphone and have a c310 hd webcam for decent quality. Background: Deep in the forest of (insert name here) there was a elven settlement. It was a peacefull settlement where evreybody helped each other. Though evreywhere there is peace their will be chaos sooner or later. This is also true for the elven settlement because one day a mighty dragon appeared and started wreaking havoc. the brave elven men and woman tried to fence off the evil dragon, but the dragon was to fierce for them and started to burn the forest. the elven who could not fight started to evacuate. A young elven female evacuated with her friends and family while carrying her son, but while running swift she stumble and dropped her son. She wanted to grab her son but others carried her before she could, and while shouting: MY SON! MY SON! I HAVE TO GET MY SON! she lost sight of her son in the crowd. The infant boy was lying on the ground and almost got trampled to death if it wasn't for an root that sprouted out of the ground to protect the infant. After the carnage what happend that day the infant boy found himself alive on a branch of a treant named Birchlock who looked upon the the infant boy wondering what he should do now. it was his root the elven female stumbled over so he was feeling guilty. He made up his mind and desided to raise this boy himself and named the boy Firhowl. while a difficult task for a treant he got helped by the critters that lived in his branches. many years passed and at first squirrels birds and other critters fed the little boy but when he got to an age where he started to walk he started to walk with the wild dogs, cat wolves and other wild life. The treant teached the boy the way of the druid. And finally the treant told him the story of his past. The treant told him this because he now was no mere a boy anymore but a wood elf druid, and thus he could make his own choice from now on. Firhowl choose to try and find his mother but was not succesfull in finding any trace after years of looking for her in other forests and even cities. so now he is trying to find the dragon who cause this all from happening and finally found a trace to dragon mountain...

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring as well... Flint Darkbrew , Dwarven Cleric, War Domain. "Sit down lads and lasses, and I'll tell ya the story of me life so far." "I was born in a small village in the north of Asmara by the name of Lagertowne. My mother was a shopkeeper, and me father was a master brewer of the greatest renown. People would visit our village from all over the countryside to sample the newest craft ales and lagers, thanks to my father." "When I was but a wee lad of 35 years, a stranger came into our village and attempted to rob our shop, we believe to steal me father's notes, and my poor father lost his life in defense of our family history." "I was sad, me mother was sad, our whole village was sad. No one had been murdered in our village since before the 'Time of Great Peace', and it affected everyone a bit differently." "I began to lash out. I didn't understand what was going on, why anything like this could have happened, not only to my father, but to me as well. I was overwhelmed with anger, and took my aggression out on anything in my path. I busted out shop windows, flipped over carts, even set a nearby shop on fire to try and release the feelings that just would not go away." "By the time I turned 48, I had left the village, joined up with other troubled youths, and began what I thought was the only way a life should be lived; a life of crime. Every time I committed some type of act, I marked my body, as a reminder of the deed. We robbed stores, people, even a bank or two. Being a dwarf came in handy to my peers. Who is going to suspect a dwarf is going to rob a bank? It sounds funny, even now, saying it out loud." "The day after celebrating my 52nd birth year, we had planned, what we thought, was the greatest robbery mankind would ever know nothing about. We had heard of a caravan traveling from Blackwater to Goathaem said to be carrying our weight in gold, gold that was collected in taxes by the Asmarian Regional Army." "The plan was simple, get in, get the gold, and get out. Nothing could go wrong." "Until it did." "There was five of us. Ting was our leader. She was the greatest warrior I had ever met in me life. For a human, she was also the most beautiful person I had met in me life, even if she lacked the chin whiskers to make a proper wife, I was in love. Her 'boyfriend', (bleah!) Stephano, provided her backup from a distance. He was a decent shot with a longbow, and as skilled with a dagger as anyone I've ever known. Then there were the twins, Honz, a gnome, and Ponz, a halfling. They weren't related, but a more simple pair of individuals you will never find. The might as well have shared the same bloodline. They worked with magic, and were decent at making big stuff go boom." "The twins were to knockdown trees in the road as the caravan passed, cutting it off from the others, Ting and Stephano were going to run in, grab what they could, and get out. I was to assist the twins with cover from the reinforcements. Simple plan, right?" "The caravan was ahead of schedule, and we weren't ready. When it passed the twins marker, I was off takin' a piss, and missed the signal. I hear an explosion, and by the time I get back in position, an all out war had ensued. I made it out alive with Ting and Honz, but Stephano was killed in the battle, and we never found Ponz." "What can you get from a caravan robbery when you lose two lives? A grand total of 36 silver pieces." "When we made it back to hideout, Ting told me that the caravan was actually a royal escort for the (king/emporer)'s daughter. Most of the escort had been killed in the battle, and only the three of us, and possibly one to two of the escort, and the child made it out alive." "I was heartbroken by loss for the second time in my life. All we wanted was the gold, but sadly, we were misinformed, and all we ended up with was death and loss." "It was at this time, I started to wonder about my purpose in life. I wondered around the countryside for years, trying to find a purpose. One fateful day I managed to drunkenly stumble into a temple. The clergy here worshiped a god by the name of Tempus, the God of War." "After speaking at length over many months to the clerics, paladin, and monks of this temple, I made the decision to change my life. I took up the banner of Tempus, and devoted my life to the helping others." "I returned home many years later, a devout cleric, and visited my father's grave. My mother came upon me, and greeted me with the joy only a mother who had not seen her son in over fifty years could express." "We stayed up all night that night, and she regaled stories of my father, and what had happened to the village since I had left. I decided that night to further my devotion to Tempus, by resurrecting my father's brewery. I joined the Brewmaster's guild and began to try and recreate my father's old recipes." "Some of them were successes, but most were failures. It took many years of these failures before any significant success could be had." "We've now been back in business for 40 years, and things are going extremely well. I've taken apprentices from neighboring families, and now spend my days traveling all over Asmara, spreading the word of Tempus, and sharing a brew with anyone that will have me." "You can find Darkbrew's Darkbrew in any tavern, inn, and most shops on the continent of Asmara. We've crafted and honed over 97 individual flavor combinations, including Darkbrew's Gnomish Darkbrew, at only 64 calories per pint." *Flint is covered in tattoos from his poorly spent time as a youth. His last tattoo is of a flaming upright sword on his right forearm, signifying his devotion to Tempus. *Holy symbol on shield, and as a poorly constructed amulet worn on a leather strap around his neck.
