Multiplayer Text Adventures are based on Parsely games, which are inspired by the old text adventure parsers from the 1980s (like Zork, or Deadline etc.). In this game,a person replaces the computer, and a map/adventure outline replaces the software. The GM is the parser – this title comes from the old name for the programs running text adventures (also called parsers). The players take on the role of, well, the player of the text adventure, and take turns to solve the problems, explore the environment, and move the story to its conclusion. Players use simple commands, mostly VERB+NOUN (TAKE AMULET, GO EAST, DROP FISH) to interact with the parser. It's not exactly a “storytelling” game, more like a “storydoing” game.
All games have a victory condition that ends the game. Although it can be a winding journey to get to it, playing the game smartly will always bring the player to the end. There is never be a place where the player gets stuck and cannot continue. Winning a Parsely game usually results in a perfect score of 100. Scoring is up to the parser and the specifics of the game being played.
5 to 9 players are preferred. Games take 60-90 minutes.
And we have DOZENS of adventures to choose from! It's one-shot, semi-casual, puzzle-solving, theatrical adventuring in awesome places!
