There has to be a better way! Regarding the NPC sheet struggle

I don't know about everyone else, but the most dreaded part of setting up my campaigns is the endless input of NPC and Monster stats. I like to make sure I have a sheet for every one, and extras in case the party veers off course. But typing in all the stats and attacks takes a while, sometimes ages for more specialized NPC's. Is there a better way? Have I missed some crucial step? Or is it just the way things are.
Just the way things are, unless you want to up your subscription to Pro and create or use an API script that imports and creates monsters for you.
I don't know if this helps, however here is how I handle it: -Create the skeletons of NPCs, aka an image or a token for them, do not fill in any info. -Special NPCs get actual stats, random NPCs get stats when they need them. Same with abilities. i.e The party decides to sneak up on villager Bob to take his gold purse. I roll on the stats relevant to the situation on the spot and mark them down. Afterwards villager Bob gets to keep those stats. -If you are lazy to roll, make up stats on the spot off the top of your head and go with them. It's not like the players will know about them. What system are you talking about by the way?
