instead of "handouts" and "characters" how about custom groups and full functionality for all pages

the problem i ran into, although minor, could probably be improved upon, so heres my take on it. i wanted to set up a party inventory, but realized no one could edit handouts except me. now i have a character called "inventory". since the only difference between handouts and characters seems to be image size and player control options, why not make one form with all the functionality of both handouts and characters, and allow us to make our own categories to put them in. the GM could edit if a file is a character for chat and other purposes.
I get what you are saying, anon. It's an interesting suggestion: to make fewer tools with a higher degree of customization, turning them into Handouts, Characters or whatever --even Tokens.
that does sum up my suggestion rather well. the more i think about it the more i would like custom grouping of journal entries at least. this way we could put a "locations" and "quests" and so forth in there and not have them all lumped under "characters" just so our players can edit them.
It seems a very good idea. As a lot of peoples tend to find unexpected way to use the tools of the VTTs, more customization is generally good (if the default is kept simple and if peoples don't have to customize each and any feature). +1
it then could be used for character sheets or stuff - where players could decide who can see what (as - own character sheet - yourself + gm - maybe some other person that looted your corpse after you died)
Even just having the ability to group PC, NPC, Monsters etc under the Journal tab would be huge.  Right now I have to scroll down a lot to find stuff.
