RETURN TO FORUM NAVIGATION CHARACTER CREATION What can I use? Anything that is on http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ is good (except mythic stuff) and many of the official pathfinder books on d20pfsrd.com are fine. All 3rd party materials must be approved using the following link: Allowed Materials What starting information do I need? You will start at level 1 with a 20 point buy and 150 gold which may be used to purchase anything you can afford. You may have 2 Traits and 1 drawback for an additional 3rd trait as an option. You may also start with 1 MW (masterwork) quality item of your choice to bring with you to the island for free. Characters will receive 2 additional skill points per level to spend on a craft and a profession of your choice. You will receive 1 bonus crafting feat or skill focus feat in craft or profession at the time of your characters creation. If you would like you may choose a feat you do not meet the prerequisites for but will not gain "access" until you do meet them This means you are "training in this" and it will unlock when you have finished "training" Okay, I have my character, where should I store it? Your Character Information will need to be transferred to the Sheet on Roll 20 but I will need to set up a journal entry for you and give you character access. I will do this by creating a journal entry with your personal roll20 name on it. You will then have access to rename this according to your main adventuring character. I will do this as you join as I am able. In order for me to give you character access you will need to log in to roll 20 at least 1 time to the tabletop after joining the campaign. What are some things to think about as I plan my character? Think about characters that would get along. There are no rules against monster type characters that are available in the race guide but remember that other players might treat you unfairly or unkindly (in character) if you are something strange. This can make for good role playing but if you don't personally have thick skin, consider a human .. i hear they are nice. The same goes for evil characters. If you are evil, you might expect to get locked up in jail or killed by the townsfolk in a riot so you might not want to do that. I'm not allowing PVP per say but certain events might happen once towns develop and people get votes .. you might get kicked out or worse. Just saying .. think before you create a character that will not work well with others. Please post any other character creation questions at the Player Concerns thread LEVELING UP Once you aquire enough MP (10 MP = 1 level) to level you should advance your character using normal rules You gain HP based on the following formula (new class hitdie/2 + 1) plus any con (built into the sheet) For example .. a level of fighter has a d10 hitdie and so would receive 10/2 +1 HP or 6 HP for that level. Make sure you add a level to your character sheet so it will calculate your hitpoints correctly. Your token should auto-adjust its HP and automatically include any bonuses from Con NPCS Once you have earned enough KP according to the KP table you will gain an NPC. This NPC will work for your character and will be able to greatly increase the productivity of your downtime. You will choose an NPC from the NPC codex under NPC classes and you may choose any of the categories of NPCs there The total value of NPC levels you can have at any time should not exceed 1/2 your KP level. A player with 8 KP has 1 NPC slot and NPC total value in CR cannot exceed 4 A player with 10 KP has 2 NPC slots and NPC total value in CR cannot exceed 5 Additional NPCs can be created by players but must be approved on the NPC list and available to all players. NPCs are assigned to an ACCOUNT and NOT a specific PC. You should choose an NPC from the list or the codex and list is as an ASSET at the store you are assigning it to .. Reskin your NPC and post him in your store as a "welcome" to your NPC COHORTS When creating your cohort they come in at PC level - 2 and get PC WBL with a 15 point buy for creation Cohorts are attached to a PC and NOT an account A cohort personally works for a PC and gains a lot of abilities to enchance the game Cohorts are always 2 levels lower than the PC it is assigned to Cohorts level when the PC levels Cohorts DO NOT get the bonus skills and Skill Focus feat that PC's do. Cohorts can do all the things NPCs can do but they may also accompany a PC on scouting, exploration and may even participate in missions Cohorts may go on quests with PCs and can be used as a primary roll if their roll is higher than the PC for determining success Cohorts may only go on missions if only half or less slots are filled at the start Should a cohort die, the slot reopens but a new cohort is an additional level lower Cohorts gear must be supplied by the PC A cohort never takes a share of treasure ADDITIONAL CHARACTER SLOTS Once you earned enough KP according to the KP table you will gain additional character slots These characters are completely independent from other characters and might even be enemies You should create your character using the same methods you used to create your first character. CHARACTER DEATH Sometimes a character will die and you have the following options to deal with such a tragic occasion 1. Pay for a Resurrection or Raise Dead There must be a high enough level cleric or service available to do this 2. Build a New Character from the Legacy of the old Sell off your gear (you may not give stuff to other players but they can buy it at 1/2 price Apply BB to gain MP for this character (do this first) Use MP from the dead character - You may consolidate MP from your old character up to 1/2 the dead characters MP total Ex. A level 10 character dies. I spend 80 BB to make him level 3 then gain 50 MP from the dead to bring him to level 8 with 1/2 the wealth of the dead character 3. Start a brand new character at level 1 and convert your MP into BB (2BB per MP up to the dead characters MP total) Ex. I create a new level 1 character and take 200 BB.
