hi all, a simple question

Hi, im new :) A friend of mine suggested me this great platform, and I'm try to figure out its potentials. As a DM, I'm looking for a good DM assistant to help me keep track of battles, encounters, position of monsters and characters on maps etc. There is someone that is using Roll20 in this way, with the players in the same room and only the GM watching the screen as a support? Thank you and goodbye
I assume you are wanting to run real life games instead of virtual games. If that is correct then roll20 is perfect for that, It has a turn tracker built in so that you can keep track of your players and monsters actions each round. If you use tiles, you can easily scan them in, and build maps in your campaign to easily reference when you build it for your players at the table.
That's exactly the case, I'm running a real life game! Thank you for the answer, i'm exploring the platform right now and it seems great
I am using it almost that way (and Maptool before it). But, you can also add a second monitor to your computer, open Roll20 two times (one as a GM and the other as a player) and then you can have a compleat view on your screen and your players see the same, but with the fog of war enabled. Which means that you have your "GM assistant", but also a display for the players. I don't know if I am clear, I explained it longer here (the explanation is for Maptool, but the principle is the same): http://toybox-sw.blogspot.be/2012/02/maptool-is-not-play-by-internet-program.html
