Ability to create custom tabs for character sheets

August 07 (11 years ago)

As of now there is bio/info tab and attributes/abilities tab.  There should be an option to add more tabs, name them, and specify which type.  For example, you could add a tab and name it "Gear" and put it as a type of page for notes.  Another tab you could add and name it "Skills" and put it as a type of page for ability macros.  This way you could better organize your characters info instead of having an abundant amount of information on two pages.

I'd get behind that.

I think its been asked before but do you really need all that info in roll20, i can understand attribs as they are needed for abilities but why would you have everything in there?

Not everyone has two or more monitors and doesn't want to alt tab back and forth all the time. That's why.

You can still see the video chat of the people in the hangout/tokbox.

+1 to this suggestion. Multiple tabs would allow character info to be organized better, and would decrease the need to scroll when referencing that info.

I really would love to be able to create character sheet tabs on demand (up to a reasonable limit, like 10).

I'd support this as well, for organizational purposes.

As for Alex's question of why?  I agree with  Honeybadger. Since I've gone to VTT for my gaming, I can't remember the last time I had paper copy of a character, which means they are all digital (either a .txt file, a pdf, in EverNote, etc) and if I have to leave the browser to look at the character and then back to the browser to execute an action, it's a general pain.  By making this available, I wouldn't have to leave the game window to get the information I need.

+1, excellent idea

Was talking about this last night with some friends. We're trying to avoid the situation of having a spread sheet open and the in game character sheet. Ideally everything would be in one place.

I typically have a printed out copy of each character sheet (of all PCs when I am DM, and my own if I'm a PC in someone else's campaign), so it's not that big a deal, but I would love this option as well!

I agree it'd be useful to a degree. To be honest though, I keep a seperate window open with my char sheet and just alt+tab over to it. It seems simpler/quicker than having to open a character sheet over my campaign, then close/drag it whenever I want to view the map.

You do know you can just hit escape to close it and double click on a token to open the linked sheet.

+1 i would like to have this to help with orgnization might be a small pain but i think worth it to have if you dont need/want it then you wouldnt use it

+1 from me - I have such a messy default character sheet because I use it to store all the variable for the API to access - attributes for each skill, all the combat related stats (including entries for power attack, combat expertise, rapid shot, etc), each TYPE of armor so the API can sort out which bonuses apply to which kind of attacks (as in armor, shield, dodge, maxdex, deflection, natural etc) and several other variables that are useful to have recorded. being able to split it into seperate pages would be awesomely useful. even just having heading attributes that let you 'close' sets of attributes in that section by collapsing them would be a massive boon in character sheet management. Either one would work, but extra tabs seems cleaner, also easier to have the API add more attributes and abilities to remotely without having to rearrange things every couple of additions.

This, oh god this. And also collapsible attribute groupings, but I'll post a new thread for that suggestion. Char sheet sorting, wtb pst.
