Date: 20-21st Harvester 609 CY Attendance: Wulrakas, Cat, Daron, Virgil, Alena ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recap: The party leaves the Dracolich's Gate and begins their trek back to Alena. When they arrive at the wellspring that healed their wounds just a day prior, however, they find that it has been turned into dark black tar pit. Cat pushes the corpse of Elmer Jud into the 'water,' causing his flesh and bone to melt away. Wulrakas, disgusted, stomps off back towards Crow Town. Cat uses her magic dust to create a pellet of the acid water, and then scampers after Wulrakas and the others. A short distance later they find an entrance to a cave in a rock face; near the mouth there's two lizardfolk, which Cat determines to have been bludgeoned to death. Wulrakas lights a torch and they warily step inside. After navigating through a series of tight tunnels, they eventually find more lizardfolk bodies. One speaks to Wulrakas just before dying, pleading that they warn the Chief of the "demons." The group opts to take the western tunnel, which leads them to a door they're unable to open. Pushing further in they find a bloated demon and his insectoid partner, who laps up the blood that covers the dirt floor. A battle ensues and both demons are slain. Alena finds a key in the blood and they return to the previous inaccessible door, which they unlock. On the other side a scene of a battle is revealed: a half dozen insectoid demon corpses are strewn out across the floor, alongside a inactive, partially smashed golem. They work their way around the battlefield and open the next door, which leads them downstairs. Here the walls are smoothed stone, different from the natural rock found upstairs. They proceed forward and Daron narrowly escapes falling into a pit of spikes beneath a rug. Unperturbed, he continues leading until setting off a second trap. This time he's not so lucky, and he ends up nearly ripped asunder by the force of two adjacent spinning blades. With Daron unconscious and bleeding out, Virgil thinks fast and uses his telekinesis spell to pry one of the blades from the wall. Daron's body falls limply to the ground, and Cat manages to heal him to health. Cautiously plowing forward now, the party eventually ends up at a staircase leading up to a door. Cat goes invisible to investigate, and he finds a scholarly man pouring over some books. There's a chained skeleton of an adult dragon in the center of the room, as well as some test tubes and other scientific or arcane devices. Cat crawls into the dragon's mouth and tricks the scholar, who he determines is lying through his teeth. After discussing it with the party they decide to attack him, with Virgil and Cat invisibly stalking inside and launching a fireball-lightning bolt combination. Unfortunately the fireball does nothing, but the lightning bolt does some damage. A fight ensues and eventually the scholar reveals his true form -- a cat man in regal attire -- before vanishing from sight. As the party goes to search the room, something in the nearby tubes awakens. It appears to be a young boy, and he begins pounding on the glass. Eventually he is freed from his container and he stumbles out, coughing and gasping for air. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Experience: Alena – 7,000 XP (89,650 XP total) LEVEL UP 11 Wulrakas - 7,000 XP (161,750 XP total) Virgil - 7,000 XP (132,850 XP total) Cat - 7,000 XP (135,500 XP total) Daron - 7,000 XP (111,500 XP total) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Loot: Skinned Chitin - Retrieved from the insectoid demon. Is in very good condition. Glowing Eyeball - An eye from the bloated monstrosity. Glows faintly, with a strange, neon green liquid inside. Squished Eyeball - C at, after poking the other glowing eyeball, found his paws covered in this strange liquid. After tasting it (and finding it absolutely repugnant), his tongue now glows neon too. An hour has passed and the glow has not subsided. In addition, the following items have been identified after the last long rest: Medrash's Breastplate: Platemail. Dark red in color, with black and gold trim. Black spikes on shoulders. Very regal in appearance; looks like ceremonial armor for someone very important. Lacks a helmet. (Magical) The armor acts as half-plate (simply because it lacks a helmet). In addition, it provides anyone attuned to it advantage on social checks against anyone with Draconic lineage. (Example: Lizardfolk, Kobold, Dragons, Dragonborn, Draconic Bloodline Sorcerors). Red Cape: This hooded cape was worn beneath the Crimson Matron's robe. Looks to be a regular cape until held, when faint traces of magical energies can be felt. (Magical) Smells faintly of Brimstone. When worn, can be used to cast DIMENSION DOOR as an action. Property cannot be used again until next dawn. When you vanish, you leave behind a cloud of smoke, and you appear in a similiar cloud of smoke at your destination. The smoke lightly obscures the space you left and the space you appear in, and dissipates at the end of your turn. A strong or light wind disperses the smoke.
