Kellen's Metal Masterpieces

Business owner: Kellen Samenth keywords: Metalworking, Storage, artwork Downtime Log A large coin takes up most of the hanging metal sign, and the face of the coin is take up by a large smiling halfling giving a thumbs up to all passersby. At the top of the coin a small key, the symbol of Abadar, seems rather recently added. After passing through the large gate in the stone walls the sounds of general town life fade away, and you enter an area of pristine quiet. The front entrance leads directly to the bank, although there are paths to other nearby buildings. A guard directs you throughout the compound, to whichever building you need to go, and an adept escorts you there.  The store-front is filled with small statues and other metallic items. Stacks of pots and pan, punches of caltrops, rings and necklaces line the walls, and crates of other generic metal objects sit under tables. Every once-in-a-while you hear an old man shouting somewhere else on the compound, something about a being a stupid goblin and needing to count higher than 7.

Bell was very...err.....excited when she arrived. The crew complained to me for about an hour while she packed her belongings from all over the ship. Once she got to the build site her excitement went...well....down. She made me promise her that she gets an office in the place (which i had already planned for) in exchange for her work. I agreed, ill need her help to gather more companions and complete my work here.  The Abadaran soldiers are generic looking well groomed humans, wearing scale mail and a heavy wooden shield. They have a longsword on their hip and javelins on their backs. Each has a holy wooden holy symbol to abadar hanging from their necks. The captain of the first group is named Elery.
A quite tall woman with blue skin, long black hair, and purely white eyes steps into Metal Masterpieces. "Hello? I understand you're looking for help here in exchange for boarding."
A soldier looks up from a pile of papers nervously, "youll have to speak to the boss about that, I can take you his....room...." He stands up and stacks the papers neatly. "right now weve got all our beds in the warehouse, hes using one of the back-rooms as a personal chamber." as he walks you down the hall you can see more rooms being added on to the building. A short human woman with long brown hair looks over confusedly, and then goes back to ordering the laborers around. The guard guides you to the storage room Kellen is currently occupying, and leaves you there, wishing you good luck.
"Hello. I imagine you're Kellen? I am here about exchanging my services for boarding. I don't know what I can really contribute, but I'll do what I can." Eilife stands tall, her full six-foot-one, hopefully displaying confidence, waiting for the halfling's response.
Kellen spins on his heels quickly, amazed that anybody actually showed up, "yes yes! as you can see, and the guard surely explained, the lodgings are not currently...er....complete, but that is next weeks project! i figured getting the area ready for business first was fine since the inn is nearing completion. anyhow, you said you wanted to work here, so im sure you can contribute something. what is it exactly that you....do?" As he is speaking Kellen eyes you up and down, nodding. He mutters something about reaching the top shelf, and starts to wander around the room as he listens to your response.
"I, uhh... I'm a witch." She fidgets and steels herself to be thrown out.  "There's really no other way to say it. I can make trinkets and dolls, deal with magicks, perform magicks, and have knowledge of arcane and planar matters." Eilife is emboldened by the fact that she is still being allowed to talk.  "I'm not particularly sure how that applies here, but I am certainly willing to do what is asked of me. Even if it is just menial labor for now. I have no place else to stay, and while I am accustomed to often living quite roughly, I'd really prefer not to somewhere I know nothing of the surrounding clime." She exhales the last of her breath, hoping Kellen wasn't just waiting for her to finish to begin his outburst.
Kellen stops pacing and goes to sit behind his desk. "A....witch...well that's certainly A way to introduce yourself, but we'll have to work on that a bit more. The important thing is that you were honest, and magical aptitude is certainly something welcomed here. I have a few tasks to be done around the place, but do make sure you have a look around town, it really is growing into a magnificent place. you can put your bed in  the un-occupied private room, or just sleep out with the workers. If you want to leave the compound at night just tell one of the guards and they can open the gates. There is a list of rooms were still working on over there, Bell will work on whatever she thinks is the most important. I will be out of town for at least a few days this week, so if anything happens, go to her."  Kellen pulls out a small piece of paper with a list of names (including his own and bell's) and hands it to you, along with ink and a quill. " just sign that when your ready, now iv'e got some packing to do"  he begins rustling through droors and shoving clothing and stuff into a backpack.
Reads the entire sheet carefully making sure she isn't pledging her soul to some demon through rude trickery. Once she is satisfied she signs her name in sloppy Samsaran text places the quill back into the inkwell. "I will begin working right away. Thank you for not throwing me out."
"your...uh...welcome? I usually try not to throw anyone out." Kellen looks over his shoulder with concern.
Zordlon baught a set of"locksmiths" tools for 30 gp
The tools come in a simple leather satchel with several compartments. within there  is a small note " If I find any of these tools anywhere near any door in town so help me whoever bought this. This is a warning not a threat, and we keep a log of purchases here. So i will know. Oh, and the third pick on the left is a bit.... well lets just call it special."
After a strange conversation she had with Zordlon where he asked Eilife if she was aware of her surroundings, and then suggested she should get some training in that area, she made a note to give to the guards that she doesn't trust his motives and to keep an eye on him, with the possibility of keeping him out of the store altogether, which she added after he left.
The guards accept your concerns, and watch him closely as he leaves the compound. They will mention your concerns to Kellen when he finishes packing for his trip.

They mention that Kellen was hurrying out of town with a few adventurers at the request of Agela, and that if you hurry you can probably catch up with them.
A woman in crimson robes glides into the storefront with an easy smile on her face. She regards the symbol of Abadar with genuine reverence. I'm not sure we've been properly introduced. Destra Farlight, at your service.  I have a pressing need for a crossbow. My old crossbow was... confiscated during my journey here. Destra absentmindedly rubs a finger along the relatively fresh scar on her face. Not one of those hulking monstrosities I've seen mercenaries wield... a small, efficient weapon.  Is that something this store can provide?
Uh, hullo?! I heard talk you guys accept work for lodgings? A red-haired dwarf approaches the store, trying to figure out who's in charge. I'd like to offer my services as a weaponsmith, in exchange for the use of your forge. I can make all kinds of weapons, and can help around in other tasks too.
We can handle the weapon right away, ill ask one of the archivists to get one out of the back (it'll cost 25 Gp instead of 35), as for you sir, i'm afraid we cant accept any more help. Your probably welcome to live here if you work around, but the forge is occupied by the archivists and adepts. (AKA the rules changed so a building can only be used once per day) The Master and his friend will of course want to talk to you first if you still want to hang about, and if you need I can take you back to him.  The guard pulls out a sheet of paper that looks like a small receipt and hands it to Destra, requesting she sign it. As he does, an elderly half-elf approaches with a well-made crossbow, and sets it on the desk, Smiling over at Destra.
Destra inspects the receipt and the crossbow with equal scrutiny. She signs with flawless penmanship and stacks the coins neatly for the half-elf. A fine weapon, perfect for the transformation scroll... Good day, may Abadar continue to smile upon your fine works.
Prytania entered the store the afternoon after the party, and while she wasn't at her best, she looked pretty fine for having ended that badly... Must be the youth. " Hey Kellen, how are you doing? Congratulations, by the way, they say you did great!... Either way, Álmos told me that you won a nice headband yesterday, and I was wondering if I could purchase it from you.. You know, I kinda fancy all those things "
Kellen looks up, having been only passing through the room. "Ahh yes the party, that was quite the night. Cant say I figured i would be the one to win this one, but im sure next time there will be even feircer competition. The amulet is already on display over there, listed price and all. just talk to one of the old men if youd like it. I had something similar made for me a while ago, so i have no need for it."
Ellie has locked herself in her room and refuses to come out. What's she doing in there?!
Kellen knocks lightly on the door . Uhh hello? One of the guards told me you've locked yourself up, and are acting strange. Would you mind explaining what is going on?
"Oh! NOTHING! NOTHING AT ALL!!"  Yet you hear a lot noise as if she's rearranging the furniture and knocking metal cups together. "Can't talk now! Very busy!"
Is everything alright? you sound nervous, and that makes me nervous. do you need help with your furniture?
"I'll be fine! Just doing some straightening up!" You hear something bump against the door.
did you just block the door? Are you sure everything is ok? It sounds like more than straightening up.

"Nope, all is fine! Be done soon!" Hours later, you find the door unlocked, everything clean and tidy, but the room is completely empty aside from the large Air Bed of hers.
Kellen closes the door, and locks it.
