Special token use question

So I want to do something, and I'm not sure how to try it, or if it's possible. I want to have two tokens, stuck together, each one having a different purpose. Basically I want the equivalent of a mini and a base. The base would be just a plain circle, and would fit in the grid, and would be what you click on to move the mini around. The mini would be on top of that, and would be purely decorative. You would not be able to click on the mini, the mini would not necessarily stay within a square on the grid. For instance, I'd like spearman to have a circular base that fits in the grid, but have their spear still stick out (and not interfere with clicking on other tokens next to it). I realize that I could just make circular tokens with little portraits inside, but I'd rather do it the other way if possible. Thanks in advance.
You should be able to accomplish this by grouping the items .

He could but he would also have to use the alt key while moving them so there is no snapping to grid problem. The main issue I see is the part about  (and not interfere with clicking on other tokens next to it)
Yeah, I'm just going to have to resign myself to using circle portrait minis.

API Scripter
Scant consolation I know but i've used circle portraits in my game for a year and my players have never complained... besides there is a lot to be said for a nice front facing picture of a scary monster!
I do something like this when using mounted characters, and just manually move the top one out of the wa when I need to click the bottom one, and select both when they are both moving. Why do you need them to be different images if one of htem is purely decorative though?
I want one to be purely decorative because I want to be able to click through it, and I don't want it being resized to fit in the square (and if they were the same, the circle would be resized with it). The base size is important, the mini size is not.
If you become a Pro subscriber, you could make use of an API Script (e.g. like Bump ) to "group" tokens across different layers such that you could manipulate "bases" on one layer and "minis" on another.
Wow, that's perfect Silvyre, thank you.
