NAME: Food For Thought TYPE: Training, Standard PREREQUISITE: Level 1 ONLY MISSION LEVEL: 1 SLOTS: 4 DESCRIPTION: We need more food. Please head out to the plains where we saw a multitude of deer and bring us back as much food as you can. Be careful for swarms of ants out there. We saw some huge mounds. Don't forget your alchemist fire!
Agela calls you into her office.   We can always need a little more food and since you are new here, you've drawn collection duty.  Lucky for you we recently found a small herd of deer just a few miles away.  Head out there and kill as many as you can.  Oh, and watch out for the ants.  Some of the scouts have complained about some swarms of ants attacking them out that way.   She reaches for a bag on a shelf behind her desk.   Here, I put this together for you earlier, I'm sure the alchemist fires will be very helpful against the ants and I'm hoping you won't need the other.  Do you have any questions before you head out? // A quick look in the bag reveals there are 3 alchemist fire's, 2 cure light wounds potions, and a detailed map to the location (requires a DC 10: Survival check to follow)
"Mmmh, no, no questions. I'm certain a few ants won't be any problem." utters Kyros, taking 1 alchemist fire, 1 clw potion and the map. He studies the map, trying to discern the place with what he's seen. "Yeah, I know the place, shouldn't be too hard."
Gathering up the supplies the dynamic duo make their way to the plains as shown on the map.  It only takes them _______ hours to reach the location.  They are alert as they enter the area marked with ants. // I need Survival, Perception, and Knowledge Nature checks
After 5 hours of walking, arriving at the spot indicated on the map, Kyros eyes the area, his gaze drawn to an unfamiliar stump. "Huh, I wonder what that used to be."  He keeps walking with the alchemist fire close at hand, following Agela's advice. ((Perception 11, Knowledge (nature) 9, Survival 26))
((OOC:  I haven't forgotten about you, We will pick up tomorrow, I'm looking at options to get you a companion or 2))

Andy admires the vile of alchemist's fire. The craftsmanship is acceptable. He puts on his hat takes a deep breath and says "Onward to adventure!!" And promptly leaves the room. Moments later he pokes his head in and inquires "which way are the deer?"  (Ooc: sorry about the delay. Vtt was being a jerk!) perception 19, nature 10, survival 10
((No worries))  As the group walks towards the hunting grounds, they are on high alert and easily spot an ant mound in the distance. //Players Respond Slot 2:  Roll intitiative: and take your first actions:  
Spotting the mound, Kyros readies the alchemist fire, trying to get to a safe distance to throw it against any enemy to show up. ((Initiative 24.04, ready alchemist fire))
GM Slot 2:  The ants seem disturbed by something as they come pouring out of their mound, Kyros lobs his readied alchemist fire at them.   ((OOC: go ahead and make your attack for this round.  Next time you have a readied action, you can pre-roll it and post it just in case))
Kyros throws his readied flask, into the pile of ants, spreading the alchemical concoction over some, burning them. ((throwing flask for 17 (don't know the range, 40ft?, if so, then it's -3), for 2 damage (before swarm extra).)
GM SLOT 3: The ants are all stirred up and looking for a fight...they surge towards the party, feeling out in a several directions before zeroing in on the group.

Seeing the ants move toward him, Kyros hastily throws the other flask of alchemist fire, however he throws it too hard. Instead of hitting the closest ants, slowing them down, at least, he throws the flask at the far end of the swarm, where the alchemist fire engulfs a few more ants at the least. He backtracks, away from the swarm, trying to get out of the way of the nasty-looking ants. Thankfully some of the alchemist fire from the previous round seems to be working, engulfing some of the swarm before it completely fades. ((critical miss on the throw, 5 on the fumble, hitting the back of the swarm for 2 fire. Another 3 fire from the previous alchemist flask as well.))

As Andy stands there, with hands splayed and thumbs touching, fire flies from his fingers into the mass of ants.  In anger the ants swarm towards him, and begin climbing up his legs, biting him many times. ((OOC: Andy takes 3 damage from the swarm.  Casting while in the swarm is a bad idea, but they can't take attacks of opportunity so all you gotta do is move. ))
Andy screams. The sound is reminiciant of a small girl exuding an uncouncous sound full of terror and excruciating pain. Andy hikes up his robe and runs screaming "HELP!!!" (ooc: Andy moves his speed out of the swarm)
((OOC: Are you able to move your character on the VTT?  I know you said you were having some troubles.  I moved your character this time and can everytime if needed. ))

(Yes. For some reason I usually cannot even log in to the Vtt. The vast amount of information overwhelms my laptop and it decides to say "nope" When I'm at work I have access to a computer that has no problem logging on. I am trying to find a solution. My appologies.)
Kyros speeds past the swarm, looking at the damage the alchemist fire does, trying to go around the swarms possible path as he tries to get close to Andy. ((double move, alchemist fire does 7 damage))

Andy summons the magic within him, ignoring the pain of the ant bites, and casts forth a bolt of lightning at the swarm. His aim is off and the bolt goes over the swarm, harmlessly into the sky. (ooc: Rolled a 5 on attack. I missed.)

GM Saturday Slot 1 Ants continue to swarm up Kyros's legs, biting him in more places. ((Philip, what spell are you casting to shoot a bolt of lightning? Also, remember you each have 1 more alchemist fire, toss away))
Andy suddenly remembering he had an alchemist fire throws it at the swarm, but at the back of the swarm so he doesn't hit Kyros. The throw goes wide, and Andy is satisfied that he completed half his goal, and did not hit Kyros.  (The previous spell was jolt, rolled a 5 on my throw this round)
"Aaaagh! Damned ants!" Kyros screams, moving out of the swarm and away from it, as far as he can get.
An alchemist fire falls out of Kyros' pocket as he runs away and the flask manages to burn away the last of the ants. ((OOC: rolled  a 6 for 9 damage)) Finally finding themselves clear of the ants the group finds their hunting ground.  Many deer are gathered in the clearing.  Time for hunting. ((OOC: I need a survival check from each of you plus any relevant strategy you might use to take down a deer, stealth, spells, trap, etc. ))
Kyros shakes off the last of the ants, and sets off to the task at hand. Finding the deer without a problem, he uses his knowledge of the wilderness, to get closer to them without being spotted, as well as his light steps, before shooting them with his bow, avoiding any young ones or nursing does. ((Knowledge(Nature) 14, Stealth 21, Surival 25))

Not wanting to disturb kyros's hunt, Andy waits for Kyros to make the first move. He decides that I'd Kyros kills a deer he will attack a different one, and if not than he will finish it off. (Rolled 15 stealth, 18 attack and 4 damage(jolt))
((In this sort of a situation we simulate some of the outcome without entering combat.  Survival is generally used to gather some amount of food so we start with a survival check.  After that, I'm allowing you to add some flare, and strategy to what you do and granting a modifier based on that.  So, no need to attack individual deer or anything)) Kyros uses what he knows of deer to aid in his en-devour.  Staying downwind he is the middle of deer before they know what is going on, anticipating their moves and placing several well timed shots he is able to bring down several deers.   Rewards:  For being successful in locating and killing deer for the community, you receive: 2 MP, 1KP and 3 rations of deer meat. Additional Rewards:Pick one of the following: A) 3 Alchemist fires B) 1 Cure light wounds potion C) 24 gray/green cylndars (found in the field after the deer have skattered) and 2 more rations of meats.
