How does the community feel about one shots and short campaigns?

As a storyteller I get burned out on long, drawn out stories. I prefer to do things like broadcast shows or anime in Japan. In other words, there is an ending involved (I can and often do leave them open for re-visitation). I was wondering of there were player out there who feel similar. Also, how do you feel about experimenting with systems. I am happy to expose people to new systems and there are some interesting ones out there... and there is a lot of p%#p too. But I think it's important for the community to talk about the various games they encounter, and as objectively as possible. Many of the newer producers of ttrpg's love feedback, and the more constructive criticism we can offer, the better the material produced. Feel free to reply here, and if you are interested in one shot/short campaigns PM me. They would have to be weekend evenings PST and I like to shoot for four hour sessions.
We run a series of one-shots that are small story arcs in the Living Guild campaign for 4e.  I would say that the reception has been quite positive.

I'm running a one shot this friday night. Got almost a full group for it.
I am part of two running long term campaigns and i love them both. That said If theres a good one shot happening I am all up for joining those as well. It really depends on the players and the GM, both types can be equaly enjoyable. Let me know if you're planning something ;) I might join in for some awesome one shots.  The only issue here is that im gmt+1. So PST evenings is basicly the middle of the night for me haha.
Currently running a longish-term campaign story. Objectively, I can definitely see where you'd get burned out by something like it, but maybe it's just about how you approach it? For example I'm experimenting with an 'hub' approach - where I have a town/village/city that has the main quest for the party to complete and a few side-quests. The party will receive a few minor rewards from the side-quests and one really nice if they complete all of them.  I enjoy one-shots for the opportunity to try out different character concepts (and voices too ;D) with different groups of people - still trying to get the family together to try it out. Any who, nothing wrong with whatever allows everyone to have the most fun!
I'm running a One-Shot today actually.

I think this subject has hit the off topic limit as it is not leading to a recruitment thread which I had hoped it would or get shifted to roll20 specifics. If no one has anything to add that will bring this thread inline with the CoC and make it roll20 specific, we will have to close this thread down.
Really? I did not think this fit the guielines mentioned for Roll20 specific so I posted it here. I will create a new thread in that section. Feel free to close.

The reason it has been left as is instead of being closed for off topic is because it appears you were going to make it specific to roll20 such as a recruitment post, a question about how to use roll20 itself to create a one shot, etc... Right now it is just a general discussion which should be held in the reddit community for  roll20 , the  G+ roll20 community , or another site that is setup for this type of discussion.
Hmm. Inconvenient, but thank you. I will keep that mind. Appreciate the explanation. Close this up then.
