Hi, I'm looking for players for my Mix&Match game, due to work reasons we are playing on my days off from work, Wednesday. Might seem a little odd, but I'm working in a 24hour store, so there you go. It is just how it is. We utilise the Roll20 built-in Audio for chat, though we also use Skype for IM outside the game. Due to various work related things, two of my regular players have had to bow out, and I'm seeking new people to fill in the slots. Game Style Specifics: Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, 1st/2nd Edition NOT PATHFINDER OR ANY OTHER D20 STYLE GAMES. Old school gaming - No instant levelling. Levels are gained by XP earned from actions, words, deeds. Role-playing (somewhat), combat (lighter), puzzles/riddles/clues (at times), laughs(generally). NO PLAYER's OPTIONS material (other than spells pulled from them, as well as various equipment) NO SPLATBOOKS (but spells are pulled from them all) NO KITS (but you can use them for inspiration!) There will be things happening at the DMs' whim, but these are unavoidable As for the term "mix&match": I select things both from Classic D&D (B/X or BECMI), 1st Ed and 2nd Ed Advanced D&D that I like and replace things I don't like from 2nd Ed with. Mechanics wise, I use as little optional rules as possible, though I do utilise the "weapon Proficiencies" from 2nd Ed, but they don't slow down gameplay and we can get combat over and done with faster. I also try to use "a little bit of everything" because a game with only combat will be boring, if it's only riddles and mysteries to be solved it'll be boring, if there's only roleplaying, it'll be boring and so on. So I try to cater for every taste, in turn. Some likes more combat, some likes more roleplay, some likes more mystery, some likes to just flirt with the barwenches.... All is catered for, though not necessarily in every session. Some session are more towards one thing than any other, and there's only so many wenches down in a dungeon.... ;) As for houserules: Initiative is 1d6, ties goes to players NO NWP, I prefer that everyone tries things with a difficulty setting of d6's under your attribute score Magic-users gets bonus spells like Clerics for high INT General tips: Combat will be faster if you setup a macro that rolls both your To-Hit and your weapons damage at the same time (example: "/me rolls [[1d20]] for my attack, doing [[1d6+1]] damage if I hit") <-- I believe that is a workable macro, this can be set as a button under your picture/namebar in Roll20 so you can just click it once World Specifics: I play in Greyhawk, which I find is the easiest to just pull stuff out of my head and place somewhere if I want to (and I do that a lot). All races and classes from 1st/2nd Edition Players Handbook are allowed (So races are: HUMANS, DWARVES, ELVES, HALFLINGS, GNOMES, HALF-ORCS, HALF-ELVES. Classes are (any allowed combination subject to race as per the books): FIGHTERS, RANGERS, PALADINS, BARBARIANS, CAVALIERS, CLERICS, DRUIDS, MAGIC-USERS, ILLUSIONISTS, THIEVES, BARDS, ASSASSINS, MONKS. Anything else, please ask. Character Generation: roll 4d6, drop the lowest, place result as you wish. You will at this point in time start at level 4, which gives you a certain chance of having magic equipment, this will be rolled for by me during your first game. Roll for starting money as normal, give yourself your normal equipment (food, water, rope, etc, as you would your normal level 1 character (Thieves, would likely have a Thives Tools kit, Fighters and extra sword, and things like that.) The money you rolled up? That is what you have now, NOT what you have to buy equipment for ;) Although, be a little bit obs if you want to play a Fruztii Monk, for example, the Snow, Ice and Frost barbarians are somewhat based on Viking Scandinavia and as such there were no monks..... ;) the Party are at the moment levels 4 - 5. The story so far: the characters were ambushed at their home town of Highfolk, and woke up some time later on a boat, without any of their equipment. They stranded on an island somewhere, and had to battle orcs and goblins, before finding a new boat that took them to the mainland. There they encountered an Orcen village that had been sacked, travelling further down the coastline they came upon an intact village (again of orcs) who were very friendly and helped the party out with new equipment (of the kind that they lost in the first place). They took farewell with the orcs, three of them even came with them for extra protection in the lands. A few days later, they saw a burning thing crashland from the sky, upon investigation they found a metal flying ship that was no longer flying, and three survivors. They headed west towards the mountains and the dwarves they heard lived there, found the entrance to their underground place, and discovered a zombie plague had wiped most of them out. Fighting through the zombies and other stuff, they eventually came down to a level were there ws indeed some living dwarves left, which could finally tell them were in the world they were and were they needed to go to get home. This far underground, gnomes had in ancient time built a railway that was still somewhat working, going north south. This had been done to get supplies to the Southern Dwarves back in a time when a full scale war had fought over ground and getting anything through had been impossible. Back on the surface, the party cam out near the small town/large village of Perpignan (No it is NOT on any maps, don't even look for it ;) ) and they started to wait for a ship to go upriver towards Highfolk. In the meantime, they cleared out a small moathouse from some scumbags, the leader there said something about " Ansgard will hear of this" before he died. They went to investigate a tunnel under a guard tower, and from there came to an ancient Dwarven Mine. After having been down in those mines for some time and killing goblins and kobolds, they managed to re-surface in the Bandit Kingdoms, just north of the Tangles forest and the City of Riftcraag. Last session the Party had just entered the city. --------------- If any of this sounds like a fun game to play in, please send me a msg.
