I thought it'd be a good idea to start a thread with links to various resources that could be used in games. These could be graphics/sound programs, libraries, informational, etc. Post any you find useful and I will add them to the list. Libraries http://www.opengameart.org - Graphics, Sound Effects, etc http://www.pdsounds.org - public domain sounds - sound library http://rpgmapshare.com - maps http://www.d20srd.org/ - D20 3.5E System Reference Document http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ - Pathfinder Reference Document Graphics & Mapping http://www.blender.org - open source 3d graphics software http://www.gimp.org - open source 2d graphics software http://pyromancers.com - free online map maker (can export as jpg, png, or pdf) http://rpgvirtualtabletop.wikidot.com/tokens - tokens (free & paid) http://www.ugo.com/games/superhero-generator-heromachine-2-5 - superhero creator http://www.rptools.net/index.php?page=tokentool - Token Creator http://sourceforge.net/projects/pymapper/ - Map Maker Sounds http://audacity.sourceforge.net - open source sound recorder/editor http://www.freesound.org - sounds http://sounddogs.com/ - sound effects System Specific Tools http://iplay4e.appspot.com/characters - D&D 4E character sheet service http://www.asmor.com/scripts/4eMagicItems/randomTreasure.php - Treasure Generator http://www.asmor.com/scripts/4eMagicItems/index.php - Treasure Index http://4eturntracker.com/ - Combat Manager http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Drama_Cards - "Drama" / "Bonus" Cards http://www.power2ool.com - D&D 4E Info Tracker Games http://www.wizards.com/dnd - Yeah, D&D http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG - Pathfinder http://shadowrun4.com - Shadowrun http://www.chaosium.com/ - Call of Cthulhu http://www.white-wolf.com/ - World of Darkness, etc http://www.bullypulpitgames.com/games/fiasco/ - Fiasco http://dangerpatrol.com - Danger Patrol http://www.sjgames.com/gurps/ - GURPS Books http://www.amazon.com/X-Treme-Dungeon-Mastery-Tracy-Hickman/dp/0977907465 - XDM X-Treme Dungeon Mastery - awesome book with good tips and even better sense of humor

added, thanks guys
This is awesome, great work guys. To good not to be an announcement.
Awesome, thanks Richard.
Added Games & Books sections. There's no way I can find all the awesome games out there, so post away! Also, continue posting any other resources you find helpful for GMing, roleplaying, or gaming in general and I will add them to the list.
Quartermaster for D&D 4e. Treasuregenerator: http://www.asmor.com/scripts/4eMagicItems/randomTreasure.php Treasure index: http://www.asmor.com/scripts/4eMagicItems/index.php
http://4eturntracker.com/ Best combat manager I've found. Tracks initiative, status & just about anything else. You can import .Monster files from Wizard's Adventure tools, as well as .dnd4e files from the character builder. You can also customize a lot through text config files, and use raw text or image files for the players/creatures, so I'm betting it wouldn't be hard to adjust to work with games other than 4e.
Excellent for making your own tokens. http://www.rptools.net/index.php?page=tokentool
Very nice! I'm going to try and GM my first real campaign ever (after 28 years of playing heh) and I'm going to be use Roll20 to do it with some remote friends. I love the http://pyromancers.com - free online map maker (can export as jpg, png, or pdf) Played with it for a few minutes...that looks to be awesome.
This is a wonderful implement for all you 4eD&D GM's. Simply award them as you'd like. They really spice up game play. http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Drama_Cards I was able to upload them all into the Roll20 card system and I have the players draw them after every session or award them immediately for outstanding RP. Then I upload the image as a handout and stuff it in their Player Journals. It is also a way to keep you on your toes as a GM! Check out my examples in the screenshots. Notice the Handouts section in the second screenshot. Talk about intuitive!
Updated the list. Thanks everyone, let's keep it going. Btw, love the campaign name Ian :)
Haha Thanks!
There is also http://www.power2ool.com, which is designed to help you organize your D&D 4E information. It integrates with D&D Insider, as I recall, but you can also use it as sort of a pinboard for DD4E related stuf.
As I add your links to the list, I'm going to upvote your comment to help me keep track of which ones I've done (because hopefully we'll get a lot more people posting hehe)
A couple of online reference sites here: http://www.d20srd.org/ Hyperlinked and searchable D20 general reference site, useful when wanting to quickly look up a (non trademarked) rule, spell, skill, feat or monster for D&D 3.5. http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ Similar to D20SRD. Not as well laid out but again great as a quick reference when flicking through book and pdf pages looking for feats, and rules. Skill List Index (in the index section) is incredibly useful for spellcaster players who don't have their own core rulebooks.

And Illustrated by Howard "Schlock Mercenary" Taylor no less... *ominous hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm* Heck yeah :)
For the Sound Effects i use "http://sounddogs.com", it's fantastic! :D
Ran across this today: "387+ Free D&D Maps" http://www.dungeonmastering.com/tools-resources/387-free-dd-maps
http://constantcon.blogspot.com/
Here is a link that I think is a bit better for Pathfinder then the one above http://www.d20pfsrd.com/ It is easier to use and a lot of information, to include 3rd party publishers stuff.
Here is web site that will create random dungeons, encounters, and shops. They have for D&D 3.5 and 4.0 as well as sci-fi and a few others. http://donjon.bin.sh/d20/dungeon/
I have some tokens and maps (Swashbucklers and Deadlands, mostly) on my blog, as well as some tutorials (for exemple to turn Sketchup Warehouse vehicles into usable tokens). http://toybox-sw.blogspot.be/search/label/Tokens I hope it shall be useful.
DragonStar SRD for the original 3.0 settings http://dragonstarsrd.freehostia.com/
I got a tarot card pack for those looking to use alternative cards.
Does anyone have a Deck of Illusions deck, perchance?
Might be nice for the 22 card deck of many things to make an appearance also.
http://donjon.bin.sh/4e/dungeon/ I've used this for many dungeons when I was lacking some creativity to build my own. It gives you wandering monsters, traps, descriptions, loot, etc. It also allows you to download a GM map and a player map separately. I've tested it out, works nicely with the layer system here. Put the player map on the map layer, and the GM map for the GM overlay, along with the PDF that references all the monsters/traps/descriptions that are scattered on the GM map.

Fiasco would be difficult to play with the dice only in the chat. I've been thinking of making a suggestion thread for roll-able virtual dice that show up on the main table screen. Not only would it look awesome but it would make games like fiasco a lot easier to play. Might even be a workaround for lots of other die systems like exploding dice etc.
Matt, there is a thread for dice rolling, where the use of virtual dice has been mentioned more than once http://community.roll20.net/discussion/208/dice-rolling-suggestions#Item_130
I like this one for my real life groups: http://www.ambient-mixer.com/

Hey Everyone, I'm a freelance sound designer with a longstanding love-affair with D&D. I've recently been working with a DM to produce some specific sound loops for use during the tabletop sessions to improve the overall ambience of the game. I realise there are some free sound resources out there already; what I'm doing differs in that I create custom sounds and loops catered specifically to creatures, items and locations within your game world to give it a uniqueness where stock sounds perhaps fall short. This can also include voices for magic mouthed items or story elements that require epic narration!! Currently, I am just trying to get a feel for if anyone is interested in working with me on this project so I am happy to deliver some FREE custom sounds to DMs with some cool ideas! Please message me personally to discuss the details if you would like to participate in this experiment. Here is a link to some examples of what I have already done. Feel free to stream these if you think they could fit into your game! (Downloads available upon request) http://soundcloud.com/amujala/sets/dungeons-and-dragons I hope you enjoy, happy gaming to you all. Cass
Please Add OSRIC "Old School Reference & Index Compilation" to the Games Section. OSRIC is an Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 1st Edition Clone that is completely legal and very thorough. The OSRIC Rulebook is available for download and has everything the Players Handbook, Dungeon Master's Handbook, and Monster Manual included. I have had a blast getting back into AD&D by using it.
Cass said, (. . .) This can also include voices for magic mouthed items or story elements that require epic narration!! This "sounds" very interesting. I've suggested implementing the capability of assigning and being able to trigger Jukebox sounds from images and tokens (regarded as "story elements") in Roll20. It's in a post in the following thread, "Quick and Dirty Contextual Notes Access": (http://community.roll20.net/discussion/2881/quick-and-dirty-contextual-notes-access#Item_5)
Greetings all, please allow me to add to the flow of information sharing. I actually found this from an entry in the forums on this server, but don't remember who posted it. This site will offer a nice collection of maps and map sets. It also offers some "Dungeon Dressing". Enjoy http://educatedgamer.net/gallery/index.php And another one from Cartographers Guild Archives http://www.cartographersguild.com/sitemap/f-57.html
Nice site with the maps. Liking it very much.

found this video on removing background and making it transparent using GIMP photo editing/paint program. made some sweet looking tokens for an xcom game i am building. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjwclFiIBbM just ignore the part about resizing, as you can resize in roll 20 easily enough, also to save them as a .gif you need to select export... and then change name to (blank).gif
Fiery Dragon ( http://fierydragon.com/ ) has a ton of portrait tokens in PDF. They do charge for them. You can use a PDF utility to extract the images though.

You may want to check out the website Epic Words. It's a campaign management program that is similar to Obsidian Portal, but it was developed before Obsidian Portal. Anyway, it's a pretty cool program that offers a limited free account. However, the last time I checked it was like $12 USD to subscribe for a year of service. Anyway, each campaign created there has it's own forum, wiki, journal feature, and a wealth of other campaign tracking features. It also has an automatic (i.e., reoccurring) game session notification feature. Under a free account, a GM can create one active Campaign, and a player can have up to three active characters, IIRC. Anyway, the point being that if you are only going to use it for one Campaign, then both you (the GM) and your players only need to subscribe for the free account option. However, the really cool thing about the free account is that you can archive your characters or campaigns. For example, as a GM you can archive your free campaign, and this frees up your slot so that you can create another active campaign. It works the same way for active characters as well; i.e., you can archive a character to free up one of three active slots allowed in the free account. Epic Words: http://www.epicwords.com/
For Pathfinder www.d20pfsrd.com/ It is an absolutely amazing compendium for everything.
