Draconians have a feature called "Instinctive Flight." This feature gives them some rudimentary flying ability which replaces other features that Dragonborns have. Here is the exact text: " Instinctive Flight: Although your wings are neither large enough nor strong enough to sustain flight for long, your battleground mobility is still quite extraordinary. Benefits: You gain a flight speed of 6 squares (altitude limit 1). You cannot use this fly speed if you are carrying more than a normal load. You must land at the end of your turn. This benefit replaces Draconic Heritage. " This is terrible wording for a number of reasons. 1. The official definition of altitude limit is "If a creature has a specified altitude limit, the creature crashes at the end of its turn if it is flying higher than that limit. See also fly speed." So an "altitude limit 1" means that if you are above 1 square above the ground at the end of your turn, you fall to altitude 1. However, the feature also says that you must land at the end of your turn, which makes the altitude limit clause both redundant and contradictory. 2. It does not specify whether or not you need to land willingly or if you can fly up to altitude 6 and then "land" at the end of your turn by crashing into the ground. Since you have a fly speed of 6, you would take no damage from the fall, but it is a clear loophole in the feature. 3. The feat "Draconian Wings" becomes relatively useless, as it increases your altitude limit to 2. Again, by the official phrasing of altitude limit, this means that you cannot end your turn above that altitude. Because the feature specifies that you must land at the end of your turn anyway, this altitude limit increase accomplishes nothing. Therefore the Instinctive Flight feature for Draconians will be replaced with the following text: "Benefits: You gain a fly speed of 6 squares, but cannot fly above altitude 1 (your feet 1 square above the ground). When using this feature, you must end your turn at altitude 0 (on the ground), either by willingly landing or falling from altitude 1 at the end of your movement or at the end of your turn. You can move and make an attack while flying, but you fall to the ground immediately after the attack is resolved. This benefit replaces Draconic Heritage." The Draconian Wings Feat text will be replaced with the following: "Benefit: You ignore the speed penalty for wearing heavy armor, and when using your Instinctive Flight feature, you may fly up to altitude 2 (your feet 2 squares above the ground). When using this feature, you must end your turn at altitude 0 (on the ground), either by willingly landing
or falling from altitude at the end of your movement or at the end of
your turn. You can move and make an attack while flying, but you fall to the ground immediately after the attack is resolved." I think this corrects some of the poorly-written text of the feature in that Dragon Mag article, allows Instinctive Flight to be used as it was originally intended (avoid difficult terrain or attack enemies somewhat in the air), clarifies the terms on which "landing" is allowed (with benefit of the doubt given to the PCs), and allows Draconian Wings to be a useful feat that logically makes sense.
