Roll by player hidden for player

February 17 (9 years ago)
Hello everyone,

As a GM, i dont like rolling dice for my players. It's like playing alone (because sometime there is a lot to do!) and if « I » make a fumble, i'm not really in the mood to punish them for it.

As a Player, i prefere rolling my dice myself, but even if i manage to do it, a lot of my friend are not abble to be « RP » enough to say « it's ok » when they roll a 3 (on a d20 or more....) for trap detection.

So, is it possible to add a rolling option that make a roll « ONLY » the GM can see, as a player ?

So only the player and the DM can see the roll? That's /gmroll (https://wiki.roll20.net/How_to_Roll_Dice). And depending on the game being played some character sheets come with a drop-down menu for selecting if rolls from the sheet print to everyone or just the DM.
If you meant having the player roll something and the output being only shown to the DM then that really is just the same as your first point of playing alone, someone else is just clicking the button. It would probably be better to talk amongst the players about how to improve roleplay if you want them to be "I didn't find anything, we should still proceed carefully." instead of "I rolled like crap, be careful."

Hello,
I know about the /gr and /gmroll, and of course i dont ask for this :)

Good for you if you dont need that kind of "improvement", but that is not the same for me and my players (there're going to vote for this suggestion as soon as they have vote option avaible).
If some other player/gm need it, maybe the dev will implement a "/secretroll" or something like this.
If not, meh, we will just do as usual, but we will be sad :(

Some GMs don't want the players to know the results of certain checks the player has to make, such as Search, but it's still easier for the player to hit their own macro for a roll than for the GM to dig it up for each player.  In situations like that, a "blind roll" function would help out those GMs.

In that spirit, how about a "blind" version of whisper that the sender can't see in their own chat logs, for templates and inline rolls?
