After searching Plorig-Stagul's office, Malak, Elaryan, and Loki return to the twisting hallways of the Ineluctable Prison. As they wander the mazelike passages, Elaryan reads from the notes they discovered in the office. After several hours of wandering, the heroes approach an intersection guarded by a single tarry demodand. Though they have not recoved fully from their earlier fight, they leap into action. Malak assumes dragon form, Loki takes to the shadows, and Elaryan launches a barrage of spells. The demodand is quickly overpowered. The sound of battle attacrts the attention of three nearby prisoners, who all call for help. Investigating, the companions dicover Arthas, Nor, and Waxberry, each locked in a separate cell! Malak frees them, using disentegrate on their cell doors. After bringing Nor and Arthas up to speed, the party continues their exploration. Soon, they come to a large, remote cell guarded by four balck, stringy demodands. This large chamber consists of two domes merged into one larger room. The largest of the domes has a sixty-foot-high ceiling supported by numerous pillars, while the smaller one is only forty feet high. Under the smaller dome shimmers a twenty-foot-diameter magical circle, its complex runes and lines threaded with silver light. After defeating the demodand guards, the heroes turn their attention to the magic circle. Loki takes the lead, but the moment he approaches the circle, six rays blast from the ceiling, slaying him. Nor resurrects him, and the heroes proceed more cautiously. The magic circle is in motion, as a roiling black mist rises up from it. A fanged mouth manifests at the center of a slowly swirling vortex of black smoke, bellowing a single word: ALDERPASH ! The mist is contained within a wall of force however, and cannot leave the circle. Elaryan explains that Alderpash is one of the prisoners listed in Plorig-Stagul's notes, so this prisoner must be related to him. Malak decides to dispel the magic circle, freeing whatever is trapped there. He casts antimagic field upon it. Immediately, the prisoner manifests. It takes the form of a hideous, gargantuan beast... almost like a giant turned inside-out. The giant is quite insane after his ages of imprisonment and immediately attacks! The heroes fight valiantly, but the inverted giant is too powerful for them. Fortunately, it is more interested in escape than vengeance. It eventually pushes past the adventures, into the hallway beyond the cell, and plane shifts away. Everyone who played gains 30,000 XP.
