Can't click on the map tiles I want

Hard to click on specific map tiles, textures, etc. when building a map. I'll try clicking on a tree and will instead move the dirt or grass beneath it. I am using googlechrome with Windows 7.

Try hitting the esc key before clicking on a different object. This deselects the object you are currently working with so you can select another object. If people were unable to work on objects underneath other objects because only top objects got selected they would be reporting that as a bug instead. :) - Gauss
