Suggestion Intro-to-Game-Video

I've only just recently joined and haven't gotten up to much yet. But I started creating my own campaign and thought how cool and easy it would be, if instead of explaining on how the characters got to be at that specific starting point and giving them a bit of history etc., they could just watch a video showing them the beginning of their story together. How each character got pulled to that specific location from their own individual starting point, i.e. Eladrins from the Feywild, Dwarves from the mountains etc. all end up tegether in an Inn, a cave, a prison and so on. And after the video finishes, the first map shows on the screen with each character on it and the game can begin. Any thoughts?

Good idea but wrong forum board. This board is for suggestions and ideas for improving the roll20 site and the vtt. As for your suggestion, I don't think a lot of people would do it. I know for a fact that I wouldn't because I would have to wait for the players to give me their characters background then i would have to spend a lot of time piecing together the video instead of working on the game itself. Again good idea and suggestion but most of everyone probably won't do it.

Kornelia, is this a suggestion for Roll20 to create a way for you to do videos? - Gauss

Kornelia, just put your video on YouTube or Vimeo.  They are free sites for uploading videos, and you can get a Share link to the video. Simply post your video link in the Chat Room, or your Campaign Forum.  That way your players or applicants can watch.  You can even make a whole channel on Youtube or Vimeo, and post unlimited videos explaining all aspects such as Introduction, Character Creation, House Rules, or "Meet this NPC". I've been in a couple Roll20 campaigns that do this.  It's not unheard of at all, and works fine as is. As for your players all watching the Intro at the same time, then the Map appears, you can do that.  Just make a blank opening map screen (or create a splash page, perhaps with the campaign title and the PC's tokens).  When the Players arrive, in the chat room the GM can post "Everyone watch this youtube Intro now" and give the link.  When everyone is done watching, the GM can "move the players" to a different map page, where you have the starting map, like you wanted.
