Game Updates - 3-1-2016

For any interested. So I've been working pretty hard lately to update the game rule book. Balance and fix things more, and simplify rules, and game play more. For anyone interested, and still following the game and updates, I hope to start a new campaign this summer, or in several weeks, to continue play testing. Currently, the Rule book link has been taken down, as I am working a lot on it. Any old players interested to start a new game, please feel free to send me a message ^__^ Hope to see some of you back!
I can join any time on fridays and saturdays other days the times I'm available are more limited but I am in if needed.
Whew long time no see, I would love to rejoin your game if you would have me!
I'm free most of the time so I'd love to rejoin!(You know- Considering I never really got to play at first lol)
Depending on the time I might be available, but I'm more than willing to rejoin =3
Wow! Thanks for everyone's interest responses so quick! It really encourages me to work even more on the changes and game book! Thanks all!
Sounds good, have forgotten this game was in my "Recent Games" pile. I would definitely be interested in joining this time.
I cannot post the rule book right now. But some things I would like to ask for input on, are this -- As most people commented about the unbalance of Faction Attributes mostly: Terran now has a max of 5 for attributes and Zeniri are at a max of 8. I am also looking to add as a Faction trait for each race, a dice pool of 6 dice that the race can use to add to any action / roll / skill test etc. The dice pool will refresh after a game session. The pool will be specific to each faction. Zeniri = Physical tests / attributes , Terran= piloting, or intellegence checks, Loli-gothica = charisma etc etc. I am increasing starting money a little. 6000 per lifestyle rating approx. per lifestyle point.
I'M IN I'M IN I'M IN I'M IN where's that meme I gotta post that meme 👌👀👌👀👌👀👌👀👌👀 good shit go౦ԁ sHit👌 thats ✔ some good👌👌shit right👌👌th 👌 ere👌👌👌 right✔there ✔✔if i do ƽaү so my self 💯 i say so 💯 thats what im talking about right there right there (chorus: ʳᶦᵍʰᵗ ᵗʰᵉʳᵉ) mMMMMᎷМ💯 👌👌 👌НO0ОଠOOOOOОଠଠOoooᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒ👌 👌👌 👌 💯 👌 👀 👀 👀 👌👌Good shit Gaige and I will be joining you guys once more, definitely. God, I can't wait to tell her about this. As for your questions, the new stat caps for Terrans and Zeniri sound good - the racial dice are a neat thing, and an increase in starting money is always nice! Now excuse me while I giggle like a little girl that just got the barbie doll it asked Santa for.
Fal might be interested in rolling in to this one, if I can find him!
I've wandered onto a higher plane of reality. You may only have one of the Sutherland brothers. Fare thee well, humanity.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO, JESSIIIIEEEEEE!!! But about players leaving and coming - I have two friends of mine who are really interested in joining. Is there still room aboard the SS Singularity?
Wow, thank you all for the support and interest! I dont really have answers on when or what time I hope to schedule for the new campaign plan launch. As usual people interested are always welcome, and I hope to keep it to around 6-8 ish players like before. And as usual, the focus about game play and roleplaying is always my goal. Like prior games that all went there own unique ways, I want to again try and have a group or crew of a starship that work or game together. I hope to see New characters created or developed for playing ^__^ Again, where in the singularity verse the campaign will be centralized and start, I do not know, I like to try an see what the players want to do, or try out for roleplaying and work around that.
New characters it is? Too bad, I would have loved to play Ytar once more (and my friend would have loved to play Gaige again), but we'll stick something together! Chuck, the two friends that I mentioned are the ones I mentioned in the private messages to you. The ones I created the custom race for, you might remember the Moth Race, for example? Would they be able to play those, by any chance?
I'll think of a new character, though it would have been fun to bring Hideyoshi or Nero back XD
I think the dice pool should help. Will let people have a moment to shine every now and then hopefully.
( @Josh + all) Playing or remaking an old character is always fun. ^^ But I would like players to explore new options. So we can try new stories. However I have no issues with anyone remaking or updating an old character to play in future or side games, you can always update your character in the database once the new game rules / book is posted. ( @Verasul ) If I recall those were pretty much Morblin, or Fae characters. I would rather not introduce custom Faction / Races right now to the main gain, as it defeats the point of playtesting current game version and rules. However if the characters use Morblin creation rules that is fine. Morblin are very diverse and there are many types.
So been working out more specifics about vehicles, since they were pretty non-existent originally. Some Vehicle Fun Facts - Zero G Racing Jumpers have a Speed Rating of R14. Which is approx 1400 kph!! Whoooosh! While normal Zero G Jumpers are around Rating R6. Or around 600 kph! Zoooom!

A few other things that I am adding in for character creation: ---- In addition to Faction Perks, which give you several dice to spend once a game on specific attributes / skills etc. unique to each faction. Such as Zeniri can use them on Strengh or Body rolls etc. And Loli-Gothica for Charisma rolls etc. I am thinking all characters get 6 dice. Or perhaps you have to level up the Perk rating. Not sure. I am prolly making it a solid 6 for everyone. ---- I'm also looking to add optional Character Advantage Traits. You get 3 to choose from at character creation. Which allow you to increase an attribute by +1, or gives you a unique boost to skills, like Rogue or Performance etc. And a few other mostly attribute or health point bonuses etc. Something more to give characters more unique-ness. --- I am trying to keep things balanced. And trying to keep the game and characters from getting ridiculous large dice pools. But I feel these additions will give players more options and more interesting characters. But I am also trying to keep creation simple. Hahaha, i might be failing that one.. ... urg... --- Also , I've added more aspects, beyond just Allies, Lifestyles and Contacts. There is now Lifestyle, Allies, Contacts, Renown, Networks and Faction Status. Which you can level up or point points into for a larger variety of character Aspects / background type things. Renown is how well you are known in areas of the Verse. Networks are more like organizations that you have access to. And Faction Status is where you sit in parts of your Factions hierarchy. On a side note -- Outside of new art and drawings of Starships and Vehicles, those sections are looking pretty complete for the game now! Yay! Vehicle stats and Starship stats, as well as some basic generic starships will now be in the Game Book for reference. I hope to expand on Vehicles and Starship types in the future with expansion content books / etc. I need to think over the new character creation adds, and then do some heavy proof reading and checking. But things are looking pretty good now I feel. To the point where I feel the game and game book are coming together much more. The next big step after that is to get some new good art done for the book. ^__^
Kind of wondering about renown, networks and factions status. Are they only positive reputations or can they be negative as well? Unless it's easier to just put stuff like that in your background.
Jim F. said: Kind of wondering about renown, networks and factions status. Are they only positive reputations or can they be negative as well? Unless it's easier to just put stuff like that in your background. They could represent Ratings of negative status. Such as you are renown as a evil pirate? Do you mean something like that? Or you are so hated by your Faction, but still have say political pull? They could go both ways, Example : A Rating 4 in Renown could be you are well known in the Verse - As a great pilot, or As a great villain. Do you mean like that?
Yeah, bad as in you did something that a lot of people know about maybe unethical sciences or as you said piracy or you are some kind of resistance/rebel in that faction

Jim F. said: Yeah, bad as in you did something that a lot of people know about maybe unethical sciences or as you said piracy or you are some kind of resistance/rebel in that faction Yeah definitely, and yes, you could work them in with your story background too. I do not see why not. That would be something you could work with the GM about or with. A low rating would mean you are simply not well know, which is not a bad thing. And you could get more specific about it, that is the point of having it a more "vague" terms, that players can work with. A neat Example: An unethical scientist will be wanted or hated, and shunned, but at the same time, people or groups will come to you for services or to deal with you because you are known, or they know you will work on a project that most others will not. Just like a Rebel with Renown will be hunted or wanted, but will also attract fellow Rebels or those with similar causes my try to help you or assist you. Also, you could use your dice pool for Renown - Rebel to locate a possible safehouse or rebel friendly merchant or contact etc.
Could help with making even more character ideas I guess
SINGULARITY RULE BOOK v3-1-2016 UPDATE Ok! Here is the current version of the Rule Book. It is still in google doc form and is 242 pages. So it may take a minute to load. I would like anyone interested to check it out, and see what you think of the current changes. The index is updated and current, and there is not really any sections that I have not updated or corrected. Basically I am looking for some comment and feed back prior to forming up a new play test campaign. Post here or in private messages for comments. I would love new feedback! Thanks everyone!!
CHANGE NOTES -- Too many changes to really cover 100% but I will do my best. But first off you will notice the game has gone back to using D10 dice from D6 dice. Difficulty numbers etc are pretty much gone as you either need a 8+ on a D10 for success, or 9+ for success pending skill or unskilled role. Removed the annoying Tech level rules. Added more variation and ability for gear / starship ratings and parts. Added some Gear / Equipment modification rules. So you can raise stats on equipment / weapons with some disadvantages. Big Armor overhaul. Weapons added. New shields and armor added. Giant robot Mecha added!! Big Implant and Augmentation overhaul. Large Character creation adjustments. Max attributes per Faction Race have been increased for more variation. New perk dice and traits added to Faction Races. New Aspects are added to boost character creation ideas and variation. New character creation bonus added, you can choose 3 a creation to raise a skill or specialty or boost an attribute. Only available at creation. Starships added!! Big changes to starship creation. Simplified starship and vehicle creation. ( I hope! hahah...) Added starship descriptions and some common ships. Added vehicle descriptions. Lore and Faction descriptions did not change. Only minor edits. Planets and System descriptions did not change. Minor edits. Minor Combat changes. Mostly Initiative changed again. Let me know what you all think. Feedback would be awesome. As I want to make some minor edits and corrections and then hope to start some play test campaign going!

Everything is sounding really great so far. More of anything is always a good thing :-D Including armors and weapons. Can't provide much input on the d6 and d10 change, haven't read the past rulebooks, but it sounds like you wanted players to land more success rolls. Don't know what was the change beforehand, but it sounded like it was too easy to land successes so you changed previous d10 to d6. It sounds great though, don't mind the change, makes it more reasonable. Either-way it sounds fantastic man, keep up the good work!

It sounds great though, don't mind the change, makes it more reasonable. A big part was less Critical and less Botches on the wild die. As 1 in 6 used to be fail. (17%) Now its 1 in 10. (10%) approx. You now have a slightly less chance of success. 8+ on a roll of D10 normally. (30%). The D10 gives more numbers to play with too. Such as for improving gear beyond limits, botch can now happen on a 1-3 roll etc. Where D6 doesnt really give any options. Plus if GMs want to modify things a little, it gives more play room for changing target numbers. Maybe 7+ for real easy things. Or only a 10+ Stuff like that.
Couple updates: Thank you everyone who has let me know of game error stuff. I am correcting what you see, but in a document not shared. So you will not see the updates. Please keep letting me know about stuff! It is very helpful!! Also - for those interested, as it was asked: Yes, I do want to do some campaign play testing with the new rules and updates. And Yes, I do not mind if previous players rework old characters as new ones. If they wish. If people want to plan an old character please ask, and we can vote on it or decide together on how to organize characters. But please note, situations or the game story may be altered from the previous game depending on who or what characters people want to play. For Example: If the old crew of the Fairy Starlight wish to game and play those characters. That is fine. However most likely, you will all awake from cryo-stasis a little woozy. And story arcs may be modified or different, due to possible Singularity Rift distortion. That is the great fun of this game, having the ability to play multiple scenarios or mega-verse space time distortion fun :) If any one has any specific questions about making an old character please ask. They would be made new as per new creation rules. But story or memories can tie into the old game, we can work out specifics.
I'm fine making new or reworking old ones if for some reason everyone else wants to play their old ones =P
As fun as it would be to play old characters, I'm thinking of making something new, probably either a Faelin or a Morblin.
I'll probably wait and see what everyone else does. Makes it easier for me to pick something.
I haven't played the game before, so obviously I'm going to start a new character.
I've been looking through some things and there's something that I think needs to be fixed a little. Class II Morblins get so much less than Class I. Not just in terms of traits, but also half the bonuses to survival and stuff, plus Class 1 get +3 Stamina. Maybe give Class II +1 Intelligence, +1 Creativity, and +1 Knowledge? Maybe something else, but to be honest with the 4 less traits total, and essentially 3 less stat points, Class II Morblins are a lot weaker than Class I.

They are not suppose to be superior really, Class II, being more "human" looking is the benefit of Class II. But I do see your point. Morblin are suppose to be a more "blank slate" for unique characters / alien-esque type of class / race. That is why all the possible class choices. I am going to review them again. Thanks!
By the way - Roll20 Note. I am working on an actual custom character sheet for playing SSO on Roll20. And I hope to make the html link code available when done.
Sounds cool, hope you can get it to work!
Jim F. said: Sounds cool, hope you can get it to work! Pretty much complete. But trying to add built in dice rollers for skills, attributes etc. Basic html is working, but not figured out some more complicated means to add rolls together etc. Working on it. ^__^
UPDATE--- Yay! New SSO character sheet is complete! Anyone wishing to try it out or modify old characters can certainly go ahead and do so if they wish. There is also a "CHARACTER SHEET TEMPLATE SSO - 2016" open template you can play around with and test out. Please let me know of any add ons or other features / boxes that you would like to see. Dice rolling should be built in and complete as well. If you find any bugs, please let me know. You can access the "Character Sheet" by opening any character you have access too, and select the Character Sheet TAB at the top. Next to the BIo and Info TAB.
New adjustments to Factions, and Creation. Looking into some of the comments people have made, I took some time to rework-adjust the Bonus's and Trait Bonus's of the different races. Tried to balance or give more starting free skills to races with less attribute bonus's. Like Terrans, Victorians, Loli-Gothica etc. Also I added in changes to things like "Wardrobe" Traits etc. Where some now give bonus to skills per each rating chosen, as I found balance in the Faction/Race traits very poor. I'm feeling this will help not just balance things, but more give specific races more flair or specialties options. I've been making random npc's an stuff, to test character creation. So far I feel pretty good about everything. I want to start adding images soon. They may not show up in the google doc. Pending on how it works. But I am feeling that the rule book is more an more positive and fun. I want it good and solid, and then I am going to work to add updated art and visual images for the game book / blog pages. Please take some time to look ^___^ thanks all!! Feedback always good. I'll try and make a character then see what it looks like now. This character ended up kind of crazy =P

Awesome, I looked through and the Morblin definitely seem a lot more balanced in terms of Class I vs Class II. I'll try to make a character too So after talking with some friends and reminiscing about this game, I might bring back Hideyoshi. So many good memories... Or maybe a descendant of Hideyoshi, that could be interesting.

Nice. Jim F. said: I'll try and make a character then see what it looks like now. This character ended up kind of crazy =P Hehehe. Nice. Feel free to do whatever to old game sheets. I can make some new test blank character templates for you if wanted. Just let me know. If you find bugs or errors on the character sheets let me know too. Or if you find you need more note space or something, or anything that can be added. The actual SSO game everyone has access too may have bugs as I made a "test game" to build and test the character sheet in. So updates may not be 100% on the actual SSO game page. But the character sheet should be about 98% ok and up to date.
Josh E. said: Awesome, I looked through and the Morblin definitely seem a lot more balanced in terms of Class I vs Class II. I'll try to make a character too Cool, thank you for reviewing! Hammering out, adjusting, balancing, the Faction stats etc is pretty much the last thing I am working on. I like the new initiative system. Basically. roll 2D10 +Agility and that is your Initiative. Higher goes first. Pretty straight forward, and the 2D10 add a pretty varied range, so that even "slow" characters can have opportunity to be first or beat out "augmented or fast" characters. I also worked on the Loli-Gothica, Terrans, Victorians more too. So basically while races are not fully "balanced" point for point. What I am trying to smooth out is about half the races have Attribute bonus's and the other half have more Skill bonus's or freebee type skills at start. So Attribute races are the Zeniri, Vampir, Morblin, Faelin. And Skill races are the Loli-Gothica, Terran, Victorian and Evanrill. While not the perfect balance, I like the feel of it, and I do think adding the skill bonus and things to race /faction traits is making each race /faction more specialized and diverse. The goal being unique characters with unique traits or skills. I feel its working pretty good. Comments always welcome.
I think all you need is that everyone can have their thing or moment where they get to shine. And sure I would like to have some sheets to mess with. Got some character ideas I'm trying out.

So after talking with some friends and reminiscing about this game, I might bring back Hideyoshi. So many good memories... Or maybe a descendant of Hideyoshi, that could be interesting. Waking up from 50 or 100 cycles of being in cryo-stasis is always a fun easy way to bring old characters back. I do ABSOLUTELY LOVE the idea of descendants of Hideyoshi !!! omg hahaha. And I would very much urge anyone wanting to "remake" a old character to try thinking about remaking them in this fashion. I would very much love moving the Singularity Verse timeline up 100 plus cycles, as that would let me make up new stories and things for you all, which is something I like doing-- Examples---- You could be playing son or daughter of Hideyoshi and ITTiR. Avalon station has grown. The Fairy Starlight is retired and/or still jumping around the galaxy with a new crew. The Fairy Starlight II is now your ship hehehe. Gaige and Ytar are settled on some science colony, while a younger clone version of Ytar and daughter of Gaige now have adventures. Kaimina is most likely entombed in a bio-cyborg coffin like the God-Emperor in the warhammer 40k verse hahaha ruler of some machine world. And you could play her siblings - or her machine essence creations that now roam the Verse as AI-Automatons or cyborgs. The Sutherland brothers reached the status of rich Victorian pirate captains. And you could play a legitimate heir from a Terran girl from a abandoned settlement. Characters that have more lengthy life spans could be remade, and 100 cycles of time added to them, and some new story arcs / backgrounds added for fun. Regardless, that is what this game is about. Roleplaying, making stories, and having fun. I had pretty good notes about the Verse as per the timeline of the last games. It would be fun to push the time-line out about 100cycles (years) and write some fun story / verse settings for the game.

Added some blanks for you and Josh And they should be updated and current. As I just fixed some errors on the test one. --- Hoping to add a new printable sheet to the blogpage soon as I have time to make one. Along with StarShip sheets.
That Kaimana bit was spot on =P Might need to make another character based around that.

Also we need to think of some example or use of Occult Science cause it still sounds so cool but no idea what you do with it XD

Right now I work weekday nights.... so my schedule is kinda odd. As I dont get home till around 12- midnight USA , Eastern Time.... April is really bad for me right now. I'm hoping to get some games together in May? I really want to play and game test, but it most likely will not be for a few weeks at best. I dont have a problem prepping up story though, or characters. As that is always fun, and can be done reletively easy through messages.
