Experienced Gamer/GM – New to VTT’s/Roll20

Hello all: I have lots of experience with many genres of RPG’s.  I won’t bore you with the text wall of them but notably I am more familiar with the D&D, all editions. I am trying to expand my horizons because I am having a hard time finding groups to GM/play in in the area I live. I have looked at other VTT’s but settling on Roll 20. I have gone through all the tutorials, developed some campaigns but as of yet I still haven’t put my toes in the water, so to speak. To be honest the whole VTT thing kind of intimidates me.  I am looking to come out of my shell.  I am looking for any advice/help the community might have. Thanks, Stephen H.

Go looking in the Looking for Game forum or in the Looking for game listing (the button to it is towards the top of the page) and find a game you are interested in. All you have to do then is post to it. This is no more than walking into a game shop and seeing a group of people setting up for a game and you asking them if you could join them. Just grab your hat and jump in with both feet.

I know that others will say there is more to it than that and there is. You will have to introduce yourself to them and be accepted into the group then work out a schedule or fit into their schedule, build a character, hope your play style is a match to theirs (doesn't happen always), enjoy the game, come back the next session, enjoy the game, and continue. Good luck and hope you find a game and have fun.
