Weekly 5E campaign - Wednesdays or Thursdays @ 7pm Eastern

Edited 1456981631
Starting a new 5E campaign in two weeks time.  Will launch it for either Wednesday or Thursday evenings starting at 7pm, running for about 4 hours per session. Setting:   Generic fantasy with forgotten realms backdrop.  Map is the same but the lore slightly different (Don't have time to read all of those books). Style:   Sandbox with various plot hooks & options that branch out.  Gameplay: Standard 5E with play time being about 50% combat, 50% everything else.  Both roleplaying and roll-playing.   Players:   I'm an older DM (almost 40), so more mature is good, but the key is reliability.  If you can't commit to the time slot each week on time, for a long time, please don't apply.  Other than that, we want players that are engaged and social.  The more you give, the more you get basically. Characters:   Either 4 or 5 player characters for the chronicle.  You can create your own character using standard array (15,14,13,12,10,8), or use one of the pre-gen characters with higher stats than normal.  The group does not necessarily need a healer, as there will be pots and wands available.  I will post the list of pre-gens soon. Disclaimer: The game has a level cap of 9.  That's max level.  At that point, the players will start a new chronicle set in the same game world with different characters.  Original characters will be saved for potential future use as the game world develops.  New characters start at level one with specialized equipment (TBD). This will be a good one - we have lots of beautiful maps, and use nice looking tokens, sometimes sound effects etc.  Dynamic lighting in most cases as well.  Please reply or PM if this sounds like something you might really enjoy.

Pre-Gen Characters Gibbs Mulgrew NG Human Fighter Str: 18 Dex: 14 Con: 16 Int: 13 Wis: 11 Cha: 9 Gibbs is from an isolated coastal community that managed to struggle along clinging to the Old World for many years: its geographic isolation protected it from the worst of the raider gangs, and the surrounding mountains preserved some of the micro climate. It is rumored that he was involved in local law enforcement. That was then. Gibbs is now a haunted man, wandering the wastes alone. He lost his horse and pack mule weeks ago, and has been trying to survive in unknown territory since then. Starting gear: Battle-worn broadsword (2d4 dmg), wood shield, worn leather armor, backpack, 14 silver, 12 copper. Distant Rain   (Claimed) CG Halfling Druid Str: 10 Dex: 16 Con: 14 Int: 12 Wis: 18 Cha: 10 Born into a remote mountainous forest clan, Rain was given over to The Sisters of the Cliff as a young girl, when it was realised that she was ‘a strange one’. The Sisterhood maintain a symbiotic relationship as Seers for about a dozen tribes in their cliff top retreat, and number less than sixty Sisters, and a few servants. A series of visions experienced by herself, as well as several other Sisters, convinced her that her true destiny lay out in the Wastelands, as well as a shadow indicating some larger threat. Following chance and her instincts, she has wandered the wastelands seeking the revelation she craves. Starting gear:  Tomahawk, backpack, light crossbow, 1 electrum, 2 silver, 9 copper. Dag Stonetoes  (Claimed) TN Hill Dwarf Rogue Str: 14 Dex: 16 Con: 18 Int: 13 Wis: 14 Cha: 8 Dag was an abandoned dwarfling brought up in the workshops of a survivor community that had moved beyond simply surviving or reassembling pieces of the old world. They were beginning to invent a new future for themselves. Instead of repairing the lost technology of the Ancients, it was beginning to create it’s own technology, with developed metalworking, steam engines, and ingenious but simple devices to not only complement dwarven effort, but also sometimes replace it.  Unfortunately his thieving habits led to him needing to abandon this, and he gained a petty revenge by betraying them to a large Raider Gang. These he worked with as a fixer, soon resenting what became essentially indentured slavery. As was his wont, he stole what he could and fled. Starting gear: Mace, dagger, light crossbow, dwarf workman's leather (+1 AC), backpack, rope 150', torch (x3), 15 gold, 2 electrum, 18 silver, jade elephant figurine with a faint glow. Hanna Dil'Serra   (Claimed) CN High-Elf Fighter Str: 13 Dex: 17 Con: 14 Int: 18 Wis: 12 Cha: 10 Hanna never belonged anywhere, always a wanderer for as long as she could remember without any recollections of what a family ever was like. She learned to survive almost on her own, sometimes there was people there for her but most times she was alone or rather, ended up alone one way or another. In just the first century of her life she started to become known in the mercenary circles as a decent markswoman and ability to sneak around unseen. This has earned her the nickname of Hawkeye among other mercenaries. Still mercenary work was just a way to earn money when she had free time for her main source of income has always been scavenging old ruins for valuables left by the dead old world.   Starting gear: Shortbow, shortsword, dagger, leather armor, backpack, 9 gold, 15 silver, feywine (2). Vincent Silvermane   (Claimed) LE Human Sorcerer Str: 11 Dex: 15 Con: 14 Int: 14 Wis: 13 Cha: 18 Smug, handsome, and impeccably dressed, Vincent did well for himself sticking close to the rich merchant guild which became prosperous in the slave trade in the years following the cataclysm.  His charm and ease with social interactions allowed him to avoid most of the drudgery of life in the new world, all the while allowing him to search for artifacts of power amid the ruined cities throughout Faerun.  Vincent has no qualms about using whatever means necessary on his quest for arcane power, held back only by a personal code of honour instilled into him as a child by his father, a mercenary of some renown. Starting gear:  Staff, travelling clothes, fine clothing (3), dagger, potion of healing (2), 18 gold, 5 silver, 15 copper

Hi, sounds interesting as I'm in my late 30's also. I've been RPing for 10+ years about 1 year with 5E, somewhat new to Roll20 but have the mechanics down quite well. Would like to play as a Wood elf Rogue as its been awhile since I've played one. I'm available Thursday evenings (EST) without conflicts and set up on multiple Audio/Video platforms with mic. Post or PM me if you want to chat or if you need more of a backstory.   Hope to hear from you.   Cheers

I'm interested in joining this game if you still have room. I have not had any practice with 5e but I have played previous editions so it shouldn't take me too long to get up to speed. In any case, I'm making my own character. Sunedrea (Real Name: Jalina Redshire) NG Tiefling Cleric Str: 12 Dex: 8 Con: 14 Int: 14 Wis: 15 Cha: 12 Sunedrea's real name is Jalina Renshire. However, she does not immediately respond to it. This is due to the traumatic experience that lead her to her new name. Jalina never had a close relationship with her parents. Her father and mother had her out of wedlock. He was a local merchant and she was a courtesan. He had no interest in being a father and told Jalina's mother that she wouldn't get a copper piece out of him for raising his daughter. Jalina's mother was indifferent to his aid at first...but after the first two years of child raising, she was practically ready to beat the coins out of him. Unfortunately for her, he had wisely chosen to move without telling anyone where he went. Jalina was tolerated for another three years before her mother intentionally left her in a crowded street market, knowing full well she was too young to find her way home. Jalina spent survived by becoming a street urchin and eventually she joined a gang known as the Tri-blood. They're initiation involved scarring the necks of their members with a triangle symbol. Jalina was no exception. As she grew older, she began to gain a reputation for being a skilled thief. The gang slowly gained power thanks to Jalina's efforts. They were able to bribe mages into aiding them on difficult heists and they were able to run circles around the local guards. It wasn't long before Jalina was assigned truly difficult tasks that required all of her skill. She was commanded to steal a golden statuette from the church of Pelor. She intentionally wounded herself to pretend that she had been in a mugging and gain entry into the temple. What she didn't expect was to meet a priest named Lionell Harrington. Lionell waited on her hand and foot while she 'recovered'. At first, she hated all the attention, he was showing her. He rarely left her alone for more than a minute which made stealing the treasure impossible. However, she was also charmed by it all. She never had someone dote over her this much before. Furthermore, Lionell seemed genuinely interested in Jalina. The two talked about various subject and Jalina began to feel a bit guilty about her mission. Soon, she was completely well and no longer had any reason to stay at the temple. She reported back to the gang that she had a contact in the temple and would be delivering the statuette within two weeks. With Lionell as a friend, Jalina was able to come and go as she pleased in the temple. However, she spent most of her time just chatting with Lionell. During her last day before she had to steal the treasure or be branded a traitor, she confessed the truth to him. That she was sent to steal a treasure but didn't want to hurt Lionell since the two were associated together now. She said she was going to convince the gang to give up on the holy artifact. Jalina knew full well she would likely be killed but she believed that the gang would be appeased if they took out their aggression on her and not Lionell or the church. Lionell begged her not to go, but she left him. Lionell told the city guard and within a few hours, they managed to find the hideout of the Tri-Blood. Lionell was greeted to the sight of Jalina badly brutalized and beaten. Her right horn had been broken completely and she had several scars across her body. When she brought back to consciousness, the clergy discovered that a strange ritual had been performed on her body. She could not remember anything about her life. One of the gang members questioned revealed that they were planning to wipe her mind, start from scratch and send her back in to do the job right. All efforts to magically restore her mind ended in failure. She was put through so much pain from these processes that it was deemed cruel to continue them. When Jalina's trial came up, Lionell petitioned the judge that she serve her sentence in service to the church. He spun the tale in such a way that it seemed like she was truly trying to leave the gang and turn them in. She couldn't remember anything and was no threat to anyone. The judge agreed and Jalina was accepted as an acolyte of Pelor under Lionell's care. During this time, Jalina adopted the name Sunedrea and took to the teachings of Pelor eagerly. As the years passed, the clergy began to refer to Jalina by her new name and even if her newfound faith was part of her sentence, she has happily served the church. The only thing that became problematic was Lionell's relationship with Sunedrea. He often thought of her as a good friend and even harbored thoughts of them getting married some day. She on the other hand, felt he was her dearest friend but viewed him as an older brother rather than a lover. Lionell knew how Sunedrea felt and tried to subdue his own urges but at times he found it too painful to bear. He sent recommendations out to transfer Sunedrea to other positions outside of the church. Although she was always closely watched, she used her powers to aid the local guard and was eventually allowed to travel freely without supervision. Lionell had pulled a lot of strings to get Sunedrea to this point and he felt this would be the best for both of them. She could start a new life and fulfill her duty. Starting gear: mace, scale mail, a light crossbow and 20 bolts, a priest's pack, a shield and a holy symbol to Pelor, 5 sticks of incense, vestments, a set of common cloths, and a pouch containing 15 gp.
Thanks for the detailed post.  Can you PM me with some detail about you as a player?  I'm primarily interested in the player-fit within the group.
