Pathfinder Group Forming (GMT+1, Saturdays)

Edited 1377320531
Greetings! We're two guys (Sam and me!) looking to form a regular group to play Pathfinder (slightly "homebrewed") with. For our first session, we're gonna go with sort of a warm-up to see what everyone is about and also to introduce new people to the rules and whatnot. Yes, we do welcome new players! I'll be DM-ing this first stunt, Sam is gonna prepare something a little more epic for the long run. He'll probably take over duties as a regular DM unless we annoy him so much that he can't take it anymore. So, let me try to see if I can put all the relevant information here to give you an idea whether you'd like to play with us or not. Timezone is GMT+1 (-ish) Games are currently scheduled for saturday afternoon&nbsp; / evening. Ideally we want to aim for at least one session per week, possibly more, depending on schedule and interest. Focus will be on *roleplaying* not powergaming. Combat can and will happen, but it is not the main dish. It's the icing on the cake. What happens in the game is going to be pretty heavily influenced by the players, there will of course be some plot hooks, but if the party choses not to bite there's not going to be much railroading.&nbsp; We're using the rules as found here: <a href="http://www.d20pfsrd.com" rel="nofollow">http://www.d20pfsrd.com</a> Races and Classes are going to be somewhat limited for now, might change once everyone has a firm grasp on the rules. For now, it will be Core Races (unless you have a really, really good roleplaying reason to be another race) and Core Classes (minus monks because while fun, they are somewhat different).&nbsp; General tone is going to be "good" aligned. This doesn't mean that you cannot do whatever the hell you want, but neither of us two is interested in running around the countryside slaughtering pregnant women and burning orphanages. Just throwing that out there as a fair warning. :) As I said, this is going to be newbie friendly, if you need a little help with your character, I can help with that. And if you don't know what to roll when at first, that's fine too. We can take our time with the first few sessions until everyone is familiar with the rules and the roll20 interface. To play, we're obviously going to use roll20 and also skype. We're aiming for 4-5 reliable players so everyone has a good chance to participate So, if this sounds a little bit interesting for you, drop me a line, either here or via PM. What we'd like to see from you is a basic outline for the character you want to bring. If you are familiar with the rules, go ahead and create the stats for him / her as well.&nbsp; 15 Point Buy 2 Traits (Optional: +1 Drawback &amp; +1 Trait) Races and Classes limited as stated above The most important thing for me, though, is that you come up with a little bit of backstory and some sort of excuse for why your character is adventuring. Basically I'm trying to set you a little roleplaying hurdle that you have to jump over. Sound fair? I think so. I hope so. In my experience it weeds out the people that are basically just looking to slap some stats together and shred monsters. Go play Diablo if that is all you are after! :D Well, if you managed to read through this wall of text, drop me a line, either here or via PM and we'll get things sorted out. Cheers! EDIT: Confirmed Players: - Aledas (Paladin) - Adam (Rogue) - Sam ("something" / DM from Session 2 onwards) - Fishy (DM for Session 1 / "something" from 2 onwards. probably a Cleric since none of you chumps got one :P) - Joe (Wizard) - Patrick (Ranger) If all of you guys show up today, we're full. ;) First session should start around 3pm GMT +1 today (24.8) If anyone of you still needs a hand with their character, try to get a hold of me before the game, otherwise we'll get things sorted out as we go along.
I for one would love to play with you guys, It sounds really fun! I've not got much experience with tabletop games, but I'm a fast learner and understand a fair few of the concepts involved. Timezones shouldn't be too much of an issue as I'm GMT+0 so afternoon/evening works great for me. I'd most likely be a Lawful Neutral Cleric ( If that's what the healers are in pathfinder, as I've heard its similar to D&amp;D) or maybe a Chaotic Good rogue or thief that while being a good guy in general, may take roundabout routes as to how to help others. Lemme know if you'd be willing to let a newbie join and what times are available as for this week the afternoon may be a bit of an issue :) &nbsp;
Great to see finally a game that i can join without loosing sleep :) ive been looking for about two weeks now hehe , i would really like to join you guys as i am also gtm+1 , i would need some help with creating the character and i could only play on saturday but i am reliable so i will be there allways :) i normally tend to be more in favore of meatshield class and paladin being my favorite , so dont worry about evil coming my way :P , if you guys have time to give me a hand with character set up i would be free from 5pm gtm+1 tomorrow and set up the character together ? , anyways hope to hear from you soon and get to gaming :)
Hey guys, I'm the Sam spoken of in the post, just though i'd pop my head in and say 'hey'! I'm new to the tabletop RPG scene and have offered to GM the group, but if there are any more experienced GM's out there who think they fit well into this game, just say and you can take over that side of things, as I imagine I may not be quite as good on my first go :P Thanks for any interest shown, and if you have any questions, feel free to pm me and i'll get back to you as soon as possible!

Adam, I think I answered most of your questions in my orignal post, but anyway ;) Yes, we take newbies. Games are scheduled for saturday afternoon. Aledas, I'll be around tomorrow (23.08) afternoon / evening. Once i get home from work I'll get my daily hour of running in and then I'll set about fleshing out the campaign for saturday and while I do that I can help somewhat with getting characters off the ground. That should be around 6-7pm for you.&nbsp; This goes for anyone that needs help with their character, of course. It is a good idea to take a look at the website I linked, though. I'd suggest to start reading up on the basics of Attributes, Skills, Classes, Races and Feats. And of course the backstory part is all up to you guys, I can't come up with that for you! :3
Quick question, how long will these sessions last for?
Kinda depends on how long we want to go. Personally I'd say about 4 hours with a break if needed seems about right. I probably wouldn't start for less than 2 hours, though. This is something I'd leave up to group consensus, though.
Alright, that sounds good, was wondering if it was manageable or not, as some groups go on for up to 8 hours!&nbsp;

What time are you thinking of? GMT +1 is not really all that feasible for a lot of people in America depending on the time, but, if it's more towards the evening, it might be okay, which would get me to be interested.
Hi, I'd like to join you guys. Since I'm a newbie I could use some help with character creation. I'm open to playing any race/class, would maybe prefer ranger or a caster. I'm in GMT+1 as well so no problem there.
I'd be very interested in joining, got a little bit of pathfinder experience and could easily make character if I knew for certain that I was going to play. I'd hate to put all the effort in making a really individual character to find out I couldn't use them. I'm from the UK so I'm currently in GMT+1 as well so the timing couldn't be more perfect.&nbsp; Feel free to contact me on here or to add me on skype, snapshotcraig&nbsp;
Sounds good Fishi , just let me know how to reach you and then we can get things set up :)
Just to note here I managed to make my half elf rogue with the point buy rules you set, all that's left is to get the backstory confirmed, as well as maybe put the character sheet into pdf form as I used PCGen to make the whole thing :S
Thanks for your replies guys. If there are questions that I did not answer in my original post, feel free to ask me. I'll be watching the thread now while I start preparing for tomorrow's mini-campaign and I'll be available to give some help with character generation. In case there are more people applying than we have spots I'll probably have to sort people out based on how much effort they were willing to put into this as I feel this is a fair judgement of someone's commitment and interest.
I guess one of the fairly important questions now is when is everyone available and what is a good time for everyone, cause I know I have another tabletop game on saturday and I'm wondering if I'll have to change the time or day :P
We're aiming for around 3-4pm at GMT+1. First session will be tomorrow (24.8) if we're enough people.

Ok, sounds good, Add me on skype at guiltyspark96, unless we are using some other VOIP software during the session... Edit: Just saw we are using skype, so no worries there... Also if someone has a nice pdf character sheet they are using if they could pass along the link that would be great :)

You can use <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com</a> for the character sheet. We've just finished creating aledas' Paladin, so that's one guy that's definetly ready to go. :3
Hey guys i thought i could post my char so you start to see what we are goin be in the group , so here is my lv 1 paladin :) <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=639306" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=639306</a>

Finished trying to redo the character sheet on myth weavers, there is a few fields I wasn't sure as to how to fill them in, HP being one of them, check the link below for what I have so far: <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=639349" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=639349</a> Baldurs Gate, Love that shiz! :D
Hello, I'm Joe and I'm looking for a nice Pathfinder Game. &nbsp;I'm looking at your time and a game starting at 3pm GMT+1 should mean it's about 10am for me, which I can definitely make tomorrow. :) I can definitely come up with a sample character if you guys are still looking for people. &nbsp;I'm really excited about the Pathfinder system and it looks like you have a good foundation to build on. &nbsp;I'm a roleplayer at heart (even if I get all into the rules), and I'm sure I can come up with something for you. &nbsp;I love that you're using the core races and core classes. If you gave me a picture of your current group, I'd be better able to tailor a character to fit in. Hoping to hear from you, ~JOE
Indeed , favorite protrait ever ;)
Hey Joe, right now we have a Paladin and a Rogue. For our starter session tomorrow, Sam will bring "something" and then take over as DM for sessions 2 to infinity. That's when I'll be joining the party with a character of sorts. Maybe I'll try to make something that "fits", i.e. a wizard or a cleric. Or I'll go with the character I put my heart into, which is a rogue. I'm a little bit on the fence there at the moment. On the one hand, a well rounded party makes everything easier, on the other hand, a not-so-well-rounded party can make things fun in it's own way as this gives you all the more obstacles to overcome. Personally I'd say pitch a character you'd enjoy to play and we can probably make that work.
Looking good Adam , finally a rogue that seems i will not have to argue with :P @adam the last word is from the Gm's but i belive right now its only 2 players with a character allready made , that be Adam and mine , hope that helps :)
Well my rogue is a thief, but with his backstory and all, he is slightly similar to robin hood :P

It's not that hard to make a rogue that can play nice with pretty much any party. My rogue actually has never stolen a thing in his life. The skillset rogues have lend themselves to all sorts of things. Think Batman crossed with James Bond.&nbsp; Edit: Gonna put the players that signed up in the first post so it's easier to keep track of us.
Oh my rogue might steal things, he just isn't going to do it for self gain... Most of the time anyway...
Alright, looks like Joe is with us tomorrow. We'll still need to see if he can make it at our time on a regular basis or not, him being from the US and all. If so, we're probably at a spot where we have enough people but can take one more and still give every plenty of opportunity to participate.
Ok, Just about done now, added the weapons and armour to my character sheet, just need to ask how starting hp works, is it max hp on hit die times 2 for level 1 plus your con modifier? And then I'll need a quick hand on what items I should take as I'm not too sure about that...

We're going to give everyone a max roll on HD for level 1 but you do not get anything extra for level 1. As far as I am concerned, if you're level 1, you have 1 Hit Die. If you level 1 gave you a level in your favored class you do get that bonus as well. So as a rogue you will probably end up with something around 10 hp or so, depending on your feats and con modifier. For starting gold, you can either take the average amount listed for your class on <a href="http://www.d20pfsrd.com" rel="nofollow">http://www.d20pfsrd.com</a> or you can roll for it with a GM present. ;) For items I'd suggest looking here: <a href="http://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment---final" rel="nofollow">http://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment---final</a> especially at the part about goods and services. I would suggest to use your best judgement. Probably you will want to have something to sleep in as you travel, so a tent, bedroll and blanket spring to mind. You might also want to have some rations. A bit of rope is always handy. Maybe you also need a torch or two. If you're a rogue you might need some tools to work on locks and traps. And you probably want to have some spare gold left over in case you need to bribe someone or get a beer. ;)
Alright, character complete! Just need a good place to find a character portrait :P

So, if it's core classes, do you mean no other options from other books for those classes? I'm generally fine with that, but it's a good thing to know in case I decide to go take an archetype later. EDIT: Since it seems like no one is here yet, do you mind if I leave my character partially incomplete for now until we meet up tomorrow? And can I get a game link? Thanks.
Updated first post with info about the party and first session starting time :3
I'll be around from now until we start playing in case anyone needs help finish up his character.
Er where do I go to find the roll20 campaign, or the skype for that matter!
Odds are pretty good you'd find my skype name in the PM I sent you yesterday. ;)
