Greetings! We're two guys (Sam and me!) looking to form a regular group to play Pathfinder (slightly "homebrewed") with. For our first session, we're gonna go with sort of a warm-up to see what everyone is about and also to introduce new people to the rules and whatnot. Yes, we do welcome new players! I'll be DM-ing this first stunt, Sam is gonna prepare something a little more epic for the long run. He'll probably take over duties as a regular DM unless we annoy him so much that he can't take it anymore. So, let me try to see if I can put all the relevant information here to give you an idea whether you'd like to play with us or not.
Timezone is GMT+1 (-ish)
Games are currently scheduled for saturday afternoon / evening. Ideally we want to aim for at least one session per week, possibly more, depending on schedule and interest.
Focus will be on *roleplaying* not powergaming. Combat can and will happen, but it is not the main dish. It's the icing on the cake. What happens in the game is going to be pretty heavily influenced by the players, there will of course be some plot hooks, but if the party choses not to bite there's not going to be much railroading.
We're using the rules as found here: http://www.d20pfsrd.com
Races and Classes are going to be somewhat limited for now, might change once everyone has a firm grasp on the rules. For now, it will be Core Races (unless you have a really, really good roleplaying reason to be another race) and Core Classes (minus monks because while fun, they are somewhat different).
General tone is going to be "good" aligned. This doesn't mean that you cannot do whatever the hell you want, but neither of us two is interested in running around the countryside slaughtering pregnant women and burning orphanages. Just throwing that out there as a fair warning. :)
As I said, this is going to be newbie friendly, if you need a little help with your character, I can help with that. And if you don't know what to roll when at first, that's fine too. We can take our time with the first few sessions until everyone is familiar with the rules and the roll20 interface.
To play, we're obviously going to use roll20 and also skype.
We're aiming for 4-5 reliable players so everyone has a good chance to participate
So, if this sounds a little bit interesting for you, drop me a line, either here or via PM. What we'd like to see from you is a basic outline for the character you want to bring. If you are familiar with the rules, go ahead and create the stats for him / her as well.
15 Point Buy
2 Traits (Optional: +1 Drawback & +1 Trait)
Races and Classes limited as stated above
The most important thing for me, though, is that you come up with a
little bit of backstory and some sort of excuse for why your character
is adventuring. Basically I'm trying to set you a little roleplaying
hurdle that you have to jump over. Sound fair? I think so. I hope so. In
my experience it weeds out the people that are basically just looking
to slap some stats together and shred monsters. Go play Diablo if that
is all you are after! :D Well, if you managed to read through this wall of text, drop me a line, either here or via PM and we'll get things sorted out. Cheers! EDIT: Confirmed Players: - Aledas (Paladin) - Adam (Rogue) - Sam ("something" / DM from Session 2 onwards) - Fishy (DM for Session 1 / "something" from 2 onwards. probably a Cleric since none of you chumps got one :P) - Joe (Wizard) - Patrick (Ranger) If all of you guys show up today, we're full. ;) First session should start around 3pm GMT +1 today (24.8) If anyone of you still needs a hand with their character, try to get a hold of me before the game, otherwise we'll get things sorted out as we go along.
