Gaming Type and Frequency Type : This is an episodic campaign. I want a stable group of players to stick with the campaign, but I'll also have one-shots available. People can come and play as there are open spots, but regular players will be given priority. So, if you are a core or regular player and want to not play from time to time, that's cool, I'll work to fill the spot for that evening.  Frequency : Monthly for the main story arc, and with one-shots for side story arcs at other random times. Tuesdays or Thursdays 8PM-11PM EST, although same may run over by an hour. Communication through roll20 with audio required, video optional. The Setting Introduction You are a member of a large nomadic tribe, White Snake, that is traveling a primitive world by beast and foot. You live off the land, hunting and scavenging to survive. Leading White Snake is the head witch doctor of many years, Meka, that seems to know and see all things. She foretold of great heroes destined to bring the tribe to ultimate safety and fulfillment, believes you are one of those heroes (you decide if you want that to be public knowledge).  You may have been born with the tribe or joined at a later time. Let me know. You have had your coming of age ritual and have participated in your first hunt at some point in your past, where you were required to choose a spirit animal. This spirit animal is of great importance to you, in whatever manner to choose, and you feel like it is a part of who you are. Most of the tribe feel deeply connected to the land. Meka has spoken of that the origins of White Snake several times, saying it dates back many generations, in a time when the land and sky was on fire, and we escaped to the Far Away. Character Creation System : D&D 5e Stats : Standard point buy (27) Classes : there is no real or formal knowledge of arcane magic and all education exists with what is told within the tribe by storytelling or practical teaching. There isn't really a "religion" other than the witch doctors, and they are regarded as spiritual leaders and healers. So any class you choose should be aware of that. Races : limitations exists solely due to practical reasons. A large nomadic tribe is the only real other sentient beings around and needs to reproduce with one another to ensure continued tribe survival. Most people are human or human/elf hybrids. Starting   Level : 1 (if joining a group with everyone higher than 1, ask me first) Books : D&D 5e Player's Handbook Starting Gear/Items : Most things should translate over, except for metals (any metal swords and gear would have rusted away long ago). Typically all gear/items are made from wood, stone, leather, plants, bone, shells, etc. Bonus Ability : You can assume the form of your spirit animal for a short time and do things it would do naturally. You can't change your spirit animal unless you die. If your spirit animal dies, you will drop to 0 HP. Unsure of the balance yet, thinking something along the lines of normal "morph" is weaker or equal to your normal attacks, and a strong "morph" will provide a combat advantage in some way but leave you weakened in some manner. I want the spirit animal thing to work. Due to limitations placed upon you by the setting by lack of materials and arcane, just hit me up with questions. Note that just because you do not start with metal and arcane, that doesn't mean they don't exist. You just are from a shamistic nomadic tribe. Expectations What you can expect from me : You can expect me to be more sandbox focused, I won't be unfair with die rolls (what is rolled is what it is), I welcome roleplay especially for exceptions justifications, and I am looking forward to seeing what you will create within what I provide and I shift with it, too. It is our game, not mine. Above anything else, I aim for fun and that's why we play this game, right? What I expect from you : be open to collaborative storytelling and don't be a jerk. Don't be worried about if what you want to do is within mechanics, but be more focused on what your character wants to do and we can see if it is possible. I expect you to play your character and keep metagaming to a minimal. Primal. Savage. Shamanistic. Connected with White Snake, spirit animal, and the land.
