Hyena Den

NAME: Hyena Den TYPE: Kingdom, Standard PREREQUISITE: None MISSION LEVEL: 2 SLOTS: 6 DESCRIPTION: A den of hyena is causing trouble in the area. Find the den and rid the plains of this menace.
Setup: Hyena have been spotted in numbers in the plains. You have been recruited by the town to hunt the beasts back to their lair and end them. Post any preperations made here, and i will begin the mission in Slot 1, posting as you make progress.
Shinon grabbed her gear and wore her armor that still had the streaks of blood from the combat before.  She was shaken but still ready to go.  She waited at the point where all the people were supposed to meet.  She didn't know who was going to show up for the fight.
Endy runs over.   When do we start!?
Bebblebrox comes up riding on a pony.   Is this the dog hunting party?  Good, I don't think I've had the pleasure of meeting either of you.   Springing off his pony with a flourish he sweeps his large floppy hat off his head and bows deeply.   Bebblebrox Wizzlepop at your service.
Cool! I'm Endy. I just got here. Dogs can smell real good so I can help keep us down wind.  watch this! Endy runs 30' feet away then starts dancing with the wind. The air gathers strength then launches toward the group, stopping just short of anyone. Keeping us down wind is less awesome, I've been doing that already.
Valkor walks over to the group and turns toward Bebblebrox and Endy, This is for the group hunting hyenas, right? Hello, by the way, I am Valkor Zeildred.
Aladriel materializes next to Valkor, the only one here he recognizes. He'd been here the whole time, simply had no reason to come out until now. He waved to the others, and stood silently, waiting for any more who might show.
OOC are we missing any members? i thought there were 6
After meeting up you set off, towards the hyena's last known location, the deserts south of town. Walking, it takes you a few hours to get there, but after searching for a while you come across the corpse of a kobold from one of the local tribes.
OOC: We are missing Michael, he signed up, but never answered in here.
Aladriel looks at the corpse, taking note of it's wounds. He isn't very well versed in medicine, so he doubts he will be of any help in figuring out what to do next. Perhaps one of these loud people know how to track hyena? 'At any rate, they'll fall fast enough once they're found.' he thinks to himself as he listens to the others.
Valkor walks over to the corpse and examines it. It looks like his legs have been shattered and he was torn to pieces. Could very well be the hyenas. 
What else can we find out here? OOC: Perception 14 to find tracks, Knowledge Nature 15 to try to identify
As you look around, you notice that there are a few sets of tracks, but following them would probably require someone versed in such things. One set is kobold, another is obviously hyena. The third set is much larger, and cat-like, although you couldn't guess at the specifics of the creature. 
I'm not one with the wild, perhaps we can set out bait if none of us can track these guys.....maybe they will come to us and we can kick their butts! Throws some feable punches and kicks at the air with sound effects.
Shinon looked at the tracks.  She wasn't skilled enough for tracking.  She looked around and shook her head.   What way should we go?  If waiting here is the plan, it could be an issue since this is a desert with no cover for us...
OOC:  sorry all had to work late and had computer issues.   Michael is not a tracker either, but, "It seems prudent to follow the non kobold tracks as far as they go.  that gets us closer to the Hyenas, while standing here does nothing but lets us look a dead Kobold. "
OOC: The perception was simply to recognize that there were tracks there. For following them, I will need survival checks. Even if it is untrained, you can each roll, take the highest, and let the others assist that character. This is normally known as a team roll or group roll and happens pretty frequently in our system.
Endy survival result is 10 to assist.
Bebblebrox survival: 6 
Aladriel survival: 13
Valkor survival: 4 XD
If this doesnt succeed perhaps some of us can take 10 (unless you all have neg survival skills)

After a few minutes of looking around, with endy's help, Aladriel manages to find a trail into and out of the area for each of the sets (minus the kobold). It looks like there were a few more kobolds all coming from the same direction. The large cat prints lead north from their western path, while the hyenas both enter and leave via the south. OOC: yall made it exactly lol. just BARELY.
you found them! Which way now?  Jumping with excitement.
Alright Aladriel, lead the way.  Be on the watch out folks, we don't want to be the underdog here.
(assuming Aladriel leads the way) The path the hyena takes is winding and long, taking a few more hours to navigate. As mid-day turns into after-noon, you enter a hilly area where the hyena seems to meet up with a couple more of it's kind. Following the tracks becomes easier now, and you can hear the creature's vile laughter echoing through the hills. As you close in you see piles of bones seemingly markers for entering dangerous territory. OOC: each player needs to make a fortitude save DC 12. If you fail, you are at a -5 to perception checks as long as you are distracted by the horrific piles of corpses strewn about nearby. After your fortitude checks, i need a perception check for each character. Now is the time to make knowledge nature, stealth, and other rolls in preperation to combat. After you make your rolls, you may place your characters at the southern end of the canyon in map 3
Aladriel feels no sympathy for the dead (fort nat 20, roll of 19 because -1) and proceeds to stealth (Stealth nat 20, roll of 36) as he takes a look around at the area in question, alert for any hyenas or other animals that may come (Perception 22). He prepares 2 daggers for throwing, and sneaks around the group, seemingly unhampered by his stealthy motions, he moves at his full faster-than-most speed, trying to create a known-perimiter to be safe.

OOC:  Gah...more early days and late evenings.  sigh.   michael sticks beside the group.  If hyenas come at us, if we support each ther as a group we will have a better chance. 
Ooc: fort 12, perception 18, nature 13, stealth 17. 4 people are constantly down wind for scent abilities, scouts and people in the font of our group. Ill be up front.
OOC: K, Shane i will need you to make rolls like the others. Ben, if you could mark whoever you have scent-blocked that would be wonderful. If you dont have access to their tokens then just tell me and i will mark them. Once the others post we will continue.
\\OOC Fort crit 22, Percep 17, Steath 1 (crit fail), knowledge nature 7\\ Shinon lives in armor, it's not quiet.  She didn't care about the blood and the carnage around her.  She has seen and been part of it before.  She looked around for anything that would be an alert but didn't see much and was clanking around as she looked.
OOC: oh my gosh guys i didn't mean everyone HAD to make stealth and knowledge. I just meant if you had any applicable skills for the situation now was the time to use them.

Slot 1: We will begin using slots, since we are getting close to combat, and the end of the mission. As you approach the den, you hear loud barking laughter from within. A few steps closer, and you hear a crash of metal as Shinon stumbles on some gravel. The laughter stops, and is replaced by a few quick barks. After that the small canyon falls into an eerie silence. Dont worry about initiative for this combat as both parties know the other is there.
Shinon cursed under her breath about her armor as usual.  She was looking ahead trying to see if anything was ahead.  (Perception 5) she sees nothing by looking at the same direction as the sun.
OOC:  I would Amy but I cannot find my character sheet anywhere.  these roll are based off what I can remember of my sheet.  and may or may not be accurate.  fort save 6 (fail) 10 for perception 17 for stealth.  
Bebblebrox strides foward Come friends, have courage, we will be victorious this day.   Turning towards the cave.   Here doggie doggie doggie, here doggie, Mr. Bebble has a nice slashy treat for you.   Bebblebrox moves forward carefully which scimitar drawn and buckler at the ready.

GM POST SLOT 2 (9 am - 5 pm) From the rocks 2 Dire Hyena leap towards Bebblebrox, one biting the gnomes legs and sending him toppling to the ground (13 damage plus tripped). From the other side a single Hyena jumps at Endy and 2 more come out of the cave growling and snapping. Player's Post Slot 2 (5 pm - 1 am)  - Feel free to post early though
Begins muttering under his breath and after some time, the air begins to shimmer around him as the nanites from his blood fly around him, giving him a layer of protection (Mage armor). He then pulls his weapon out.
Shinon with her sword already out moved to the closest one and took a swing at the nearest one and hits for 2 dmg \\*sigh*\\  \\AC hit 17\\

Slot 3 Endy blasts the hyena with a fierce gust of wind.  Ooc: missed slot 2 :/, gusting air blast missed but still has the spell effect. I cannot see the AC /HP but am assuming a 5 missed. The wind will remain as the gust ot wind spell for 1 round preventing him from approaching unless it makes a dc 15 str check.

Slot 3 (5pm - 1am) Bebblebrox hops back to his feet ((used kip up, doesn't provoke)), takes a 5 foot step toward the creature Shinon is attacking and swings his scimitar around threateningly at the other Hyena. //Natural 1 on the attack
Combat Slot 3: Hyenas The two hyenas from the cave rush towards Endy, while the other one gets bettered with winds. The two on Endy snap at him, one grabbing at his legs and knocking him down. The one shoved southward by Endy's winds lands a vicious blow on aladriel, knocking him to the ground and out of consciousness. The two larger creatures turn to attack bebble, who easily dodges their attacks.  OOC: one miss, and one unconfirmed crit on endy for 4 damage and a trip. one confirmed crit on aladriel for 9 damage. two misses on bebble
