After another wonderful recap by Luke we started our session
by arguing which direction the team should take with the fight becoming more
urgent by the makeshift torch that Kritty had fashioned together finally dying
out and the Sarman’s torch starting to flicker and die.
Finally deciding to return to the closet where Tammy was
discovered, they attempted to create a few more improvised torches by smashing
the crates within. Having a difficult time due to the urgency of the task on
top of other concerns, Kritty may have smashed too hard, though through sheer
luck, they managed to find two pieces of wood large enough to craft into a
light source that’d last them long enough to return to the Hub room.
Leaving wounded Brother Sarman and the fatigued Solaire in
the closet with Tammy and Sarman’s flickering torch to protect them, Terezi and
Kritty adventured towards the Hub to purchase items with Kritty’s recently
obtained treasures, spending an entire chest worth of money, they got a few
minor healing potions, a paut, and some spare torches before wandering back
towards the broom closet.
Unbeknownst to them, Tammy was not as he seemed and took the
opportunity to attack the weakened warriors, striking first at Solaire that
barely managed to block the kick to his gut and attempted a return swing, but
missed in the close quarters combat that Tammy forced upon them. Sarman, woken
by the noise that was generated behind his slow ascent to his feet but by the
time he makes it and readies a hatchet, the torch left by Kritty finally
sputtered out leaving the three in darkness.
The penalties were only minor for the opponent as he had
managed to grapple onto Solaire in the confusion with his counter attacks still
going wide in the close combat melee, and instead takes a punch to the stomach.
Sarman, desperately attempting to defend his companion, exerts himself past
human capabilities and manages to strike a lucky blow with a throwing hatchet
against the turncoat, hitting him in the foot with a nearly crippling blow.
Ignoring the stricken martial artist and the strike to his
foot, Tammy deals out another massive blow to Solaire’s chest, recovering as
fast as he could, he threw out a wild swing with all of his might and managed
to strike the giant in his leg, forcing him to flinch and release his grasp.
Sarman stepping forwards, wobbling on his legs, once again transcended his capabilities
and struck out, leading to two massive blows to the man’s groin, one striking a
pressure point on the man and by the barest of margins Tammy avoided succumbing
to the immense pain. Unfortunately Tammy responded to this treatment by
breaking Solaire’s arm, forcing him to drop his weapon and fall down into the
fetal position clutching it in pain and shock for a few seconds.
Sarman, still trying to beat on the man to distract him from
Solaire does some damage, though his exertion finally caught up with him as he
finally passes out from his wounds. Solaire, having managed to overcome the
pain, begins to stand until Tammy turns around once more and delivers a
crushing blow to the man’s solar plexus. The cleric crumples to the ground, his
breath finally leaving him for the last time.
At the same time his divine ally vanishes from behind
Kritty, the borrowed armor and the purchased weapons dropping to the ground. Knowing
that something bad had happened, the swashbuckler fought against his greed and
his conscience and hurried towards the broom closet that he had left his
companions within. Finding the door still locked and a familiar voice issuing a
command to go away from inside, the crafty Catfolk did what came naturally and
picked the lock. What he found on the other side was an unfamiliar individual,
no longer appearing like a giant lumberjack, instead the green skinned fellow
was even taller than before, towering over everyone and holding a knife to the
throat of the unconscious and bound Brother Sarman. A hot standoff occurred
with Kritty attempting to negotiate the release of his companions and Tammy trying
to get out of the trouble he was caught in.
Without common ground, it all fell to pieces as Kritty
ferociously attacked the monster, forcing him into unconsciousness before Tammy
could slit his hostage’s throat. Instead
it ended up with Tammy being the one that had his throat cut.
Dealing with his companion’s death with great respect, Kritty
brought Sarman back to the Hub room and managed to get almost $3k for
everything, spending some on healing potions for Sarman to bring him back from
the brink of death. Now with just the two of them, they await to see if another
group of adventurers will come into the manor to help them leave. CP Awards:
