The party is organizing its collection of artifacts when Nor stumbles into the room, ejected from the maze tapestry. All thoughts of loot and exploration are pushed aside as the other adventures swarm around the halfling, yelling out requests for healing. Nor, for his part, is completely disoriented. From his perspective, only a few hours have passed since the battle with Uffrandir. As the party is in the process of catching Nor up, they are interrupted. A two-headed, twelve-armed marilith enters the vault and begins casting spells. A silent alarm-- triggered when the vault was first infiltrated-- has summoned the prison's warden, Ylleshka! She leads with a maze spell, dumping Nor back into the tapestry. Elaryan casts prismatic wall, blocking Ylleshka's progress and buying the party some time. Arthas uses the opportunity to walk over to the vault's three doors (red, gold, and black) and opens the gold one. A solid wall of golden mist fills the door frame. Arthas steps into the mist and disappears. Malak, Loki, and Elaryan are not left alone for long, however. Two stringy demodands teleport into the vault and attack! Loki follows Arthas intot he mist, leaving Malak and Elaryan alone to deal with this latest threat. Malak engages the demodands in dragon form, while Elaryan attacks with spells. Eventually, they are rejoined by their companions, and the demodands are defeated. laryan opens the red door, revealing a blank wall on which has been carved a detailed bas-relief carving of Baphomet. This carving is inhabited by a vilsteth demon which steps out of the carving and attacks the sorcerer. Simultaneously, four more demodands teleport into the room. The vilsteth grabs Elaryan and batters him into unconsciousness as the other heroes engage with the latest wave of demodands. This battle is more frantic than the first, as the demodands use their acid fog power to lay down cover and their mythic severance power to weaken the adventurers. Loki is grievously wounded, while Nor is reduced to riding on Malak for protection. Nonetheless, the heroes are eventually successful, slaying both the demon and the demodands. Everyone who played gains 40,000 XP.
