It has not been many days since her hatching and already Jana has established a clear daily routine, waking up early she spends a quarter glass following Adolfo around on his daily doings in the Mermaid. Once satisfied that things are all in order, and hopefully after receiving a treat, she takes flight through one of the windows. Going out in wide circles from the inn she aims to find the morning's entertainment. Usually that will be some new thing that takes her fancy; the fishermen and their comings and goings, the rag tag people making their way to the west part of town; hoping to be first in line for healing at the Lodge of Light or even something as mundane as following a mail carrier around. Usually these things are observed from afar; and above, but sometimes she dares closer looks or even meetings. Once saying hello to a cat lazing out in the sun and once landing to strut along the stall-keepers at market as they set up. Those who would notice, and take interest in her would see that she grows; and fast. With her size comes also nerve as she takes on ever more daring "quests". After her first week of swooping Jana makes a friend, one of the short featherless, with dirt all over her fake feathers and in good need of grooming, and it would seem; bread. Running without those things Syvil insists are called "shoes" she seemed most delighted at having gotten her claws on a chunk. But just as Jana had corrected course as to follow; the short one had been tripped by a somewhat bigger one, who also wanted the bread. But it was the short one's bread! Thus Jana decided that her time for watching had ended and her time for action come. Diving down towards the thief she came to hover with wings fully spread; blotting out the rising sun. Though an owl is hardly a tangible threat the surprise so scared the wrongdoer that bread was forgotten and haste remembered. With the bread in her talons Jana soon found her way back to the short one who was now cleaning her face by sending water running down from her eyes; a peculiar thing for it was not very effective but it stopped once the bread was reintroduced. The two quickly became an infamous duo for their upstarts; the short one would think of some thing to do every morning and for a few hours Jana would watch, and eventually help; best she could. Together they have lots of fun and encounter many things and people; good and bad. But whether things are scary and confusing, or nice and interesting; the short one always ends up with a few rounded pieces of that heavy shiny thing; metal. And if there is one thing Jana is beginning to understand it is that metal makes people very happy. With the morning taken care of she then goes to find Syvil, leaving that man alone for too long tends to see him worrying over her whereabouts and he does get so very ruffled if she makes him worry.  So, as the sun is breaking even with the roofs she makes her way back to that building with the silly fishwoman hanging outside. Letting Syvil clean out her feathers; often ruffled or dirtied by her adventures with the short one. He had not been very happy about the short one at first; he agreed that what she did was "right" whatever he means by that, but he seemed to think the tiny featherless might be dangerous. As if someone so small without talons or claws would attack her. Together they usually sit for a bit, Jana having some more treats and Syvil droning on about some topic or another. Most are boring; what bows and arrows are, what water not to drink or some other nonsense. More interesting are the talks of that place he calls "home" with its great big trees, strange creatures and many other odd things. Thankfully he usually keeps the first kind short, and dwells longer on "home" or "friends". Thinking that she likes "friends" Jana has decided that she has three; that short one, the one who she considers the happiest featherless for he is always in metal; Syvil calls him Cain, and the woman who, of all things, lives under the ground. "Home" is a bit more uncertain, a few places are competing for that title as of now but an answer will come, in time. And it seems there will be much time; if only there were as many treats.
