All Rise for his eminance Sir Jon Cranston, Lord High Sheriff of Maladon. You Master Reskin, are accused of a most grevious crime, though the court recognises the you were on the business of the Blue Sashes and therefore of the Empire. Nevertheless, it seems to me that your use of magic in this case was wanton and unneccessary. How do you plead Reskin of the Blue Sashes?
Marokin attends the trial and makes sure to have a place from which he will be audible.

Cain wishes to speak as Reskins arbiter for the trial and if he grants it: Cain leans over and whispers to Reskin, I implore you to say guilty they have the testimony of many men of the city watch. Cain clears his throat, Excuse me Sir Cranston, Reskin did indeed attack the city guard but his motives were not to kill them and I do see that none lay dead do they? If it were his will to put their throat to the blade he could have done so easily while they were incapacitated. He is the reason our mission to clear out the cultists was so successful! Any word given outside of our party would likely have resulted in the cult finding out and escaping with all their information, do you not think this true? Any whisper said in the wrong place on this Island spreads like wildfire! Would you want the evildoers that caused the mass riots leading to many deaths to run free? And what of the important information that has come from this? We now know of the Ciderboys, The Cult, and once Kodos is tried and hopefully granted amnesty the location of the Scarlet blades hideout! Would you not say this is more than worth while than trying a man for giving a few hard working men of the guard some time to rest? And best of all what he has helped us do is let our party gain entrance to the lair to stop that dangerous plant beast! How many do you think in the upper city would have died if that monster had gotten free? It took five skilled warriors to take that thing down when it was constricted to a small hallway unable to move freely what of the results if it were roaming free attacking unarmed citizens? There is a man we have to thank for getting us past the guards and allowing us to complete this mission and that is RESKIN! Cain grabs Reskin's hand when he says his name and lifts it proudly and triumphantly for the audience to see clearly.  Yes Ser Cranston Reskin is indeed guilty but I would say only of being a savior to haven!
Syvil too is there, though he yet awaits a moment to speak. As Cain holds his speech he has raised his signature eyebrow but does not interrupt but rather listens intently.
When Cain finishes his speech it takes 1-2 seconds and you hear clapping from one side of the room, a few seconds later the other side of the room joins in and then Marokin starts clapping, who, you could swear, was humming a bit before the clapping started.

(This part only takes place in the case that it is indeed true; which I fear it will be) Having been seated next to Cain, Syvil now leans over to him. If Marokin thinks that using magic in court will go unpunished I fear he will find himself sorely mistaken. Obviously the court is weary of magical manipulation; they would be ignorant not to... Syvil indicates a few men in robes who keep a keen eye on the crowds.
Reskin would now stand. He turns towards Cain, and gives a smile you have never seen him give. Cain, you have defended me well, and for that you will have my thanks. With that, Reskin turns back towards Sir Cranston. Lord Sheriff, First off I would like to point out that as Cain said, we did Indeed stop the Cultists, and if the city watch got involved, that all could have gone down the gutter. Also, I would like to state that I was not doing this for the Blue Sashes, this was my own goal. Finally, I plead neither guilty nor innocent. The guards were accosted, and knocked unconscious yes, and one of them was thrown out a window, but in reality, If I were to not have done that, I would have been arrested then, and this trial would have happened any way, just with fewer charges. I have reason to believe Lieutenant Tobias Esterban of the Company of The Black and White Banner was indeed a cultist, so that answers your question as to why I was in his house. He escaped using a passage, which is why I was busting in through his chimney, in case you were curious. So what do you say to this? With that, Reskin would sit again, looking expectant.

Hmm; your words seem true to me Master Reskin and this court acknowledges that you are not hiding behind the protection of the Blue Sashes in this matter. I have to say however, that I am still not convinced that your aims could not have been acheived without unlawful resort to the dweomer. The matter of Tobias Esteban appears to have been closed; his body washed up in Haven Sound this morning. This is clearly a thorny matter; does anyone else with knowledge of these events wish to speak?
Actually, I would like to ask the court to consider one thing: How would I, a novice practitioner of magic, knock six heavily armed guards unconscious? The answer is, I did not. It was the source of my power that did, for I was completing this task on his behalf.

The prisoner had best keep silent! Confessing to being in thrall does not lessen your crimes Sir! Anyone else wish to speak before I pronounce sentance?
Syvil stands up in the crowd, and at first a few heads turn to see if he would speak; he does not. Rather he leaves, with a small frown on his brow and naught else.

Marokin stands up and takes a look at the High Sheriff. Your honour, as you just noticed there are some things that Reskin is and that he isn't. For sure he is a man of short temper and for sure he isn't the wisest, for sure he is upfront even, perhaps even short sided, however, he also isn't evil, more likely in some regards he is naive. He asked me and the others that were involved in this matter for help and since getting rid of such a cult seems to be a good thing to do I joined in. Yes, there might have been other ways to solve the situation, but consider the situation he was in.  The guards were around him, he had to fear to loose the trail of the cult and to let them escape if he did not act immediately. I followed him in the house and saw all the guards were well. So the main concern was the pressure of time. I dare to argue that if he had acted in a different matter, the uprooting of the cult might have been jeopardized. This at least must have been the situation in which he saw himself in: obey the order of the guards or obey his heart to save the haven of an evil that caused much nuisance to and Marokin points around the room  anyone living here. I was not there when it happened and I blame myself for that because perhaps I might have found another solution, but alas, I cannot undo it and perhaps the guards would have insisted on taking us away which was not tolerable in that moment. I am not saying you should leave him without punishment, he indeed needs to take a lesson from this and learn to tame his temper and to employ more reasoning, but consider the loss that was prevented through his actions. Thank you for your attention your honour.

And as Erolith walks past him, Syvil turns and remains on the edges of the crowd. Not willing to leave his friend potentially alone in such a tense situation. At Marokin's words Syvil's furrowed brows grow ever tighter knit, yet he holds his silence and instead focuses his intent on Erolith.

The court thanks Marokin the Bard for his statements. We recognise the value of rooting out these cultists. Nevertheless, certain questions remain to be answered. The Court recognises Erolith of the Blue Sashes. Speak Good Sir!
Lord Sheriff Erolith nods slightly you know me, you know of the work i have done, and the work i did for the empire when i was last here and you know of the deeds i started in finding and uprooting the cultists when their activity first began, from stopping the gobin attack on gategarth to brokering a deal of peace and stopping a ritual most heinous, yes i am aware of the goblins attacking anyway but i know for a fact it was the hand of the sithi cultists that made that situation more dangerous and if it were not for them the attack would not of happened, and was it not I who found and hunted out the sithi cultist that were acting in this area of the noble homestead and it was i once again who put a stop to it, i am not here to speak of my deeds to this great city of haven or of that for the empire but i am speaking of great needs that need to be met, yes i was not their when this all happened but i can say it needed to be done sir Jon for at that moment i can only guess that Reskin felt time was not on his side and that if he were to be held by the guards or have the guards report it the cultists would know, with this i think we can both agree because yes their members are scattered or dead but their influence over people and who they may of had in their pocket is still a mystery, but yes reskin acted brass and with out thought but he did so in the greater good and left the men with nothing more then bruised body parts and egos, and even though he says he was acting alone he was in the company of the blue sashes completing blue sash business that i had started, so sir Jon i ask you to think of this not of a crime of ill intent but a young man trying to do whats right when time is against him and maybe going about it in the wrong way but in the name of good nevertheless. Erolith pauses for a moment then continues one more thing this crime that we are discussing here is nothing compared to those of the badgers yet again their at the centre of this court room and yes one of their members is dead who was helping with the cult i would say a full investigation of the badgers is needed because it was the proof that reskin found showed without a shadow of a doubt their involvement, thank you
Reskin would nod to this man who defended him.

Now sure that Erolith has not said anything to get himself in trouble, Syvil leaves the crowd behind altogether and is not seen in the taproom for a few evenings.

Very well; the court thanks the witnesses for their deportment during these proceedings. The defendant will now stand. Reskin of the Blue Sashes, I find you guilty of the crime of wanton use of magic upon his Majesties subjects. Taking into account your previous deeds and the fact that your actions did indeed result in the foiling of a lair of cultists at the very heart of Haven, I am minded to be lenient. You are hereby fined 100 gp for your actions; I hope you do not come before this bench on similar charges again. That would then become a matter for the Holy Inquistion! Case Dismissed; Master Reskin, please pay the clerk.
Reskin pays the clerk, albeit reluctantly.
Before resking can leave Erolith walks over to him and says we need to talk

Reskin is released and the court calls the next case to trial.
Marokin leaves and sees Erolith and Reskin walk out. Following them with quite some distance, just being his curious self and thereby easily risking to loose them.
