[LFG] Rusty player LF long-term campaign! GMT

Hey there, folks! It's been a long, long time since I've properly played in a tabletop session, and I can't say that I've ever had a proper, long-running campaign. I've always wanted to have a solid group of people to play regularly with and weave a continuous, deep story alongside. Due to where I live, this hasn't happened, so I'm giving a go of looking for a group online again!  A bit about me; I'm Hugh! I'm from Ireland, and though I'm an avid lover of all things geeky, there's not many outlets for such in this place, so it can be very hard to get into anything in a significant way. I played D&D with a group back in college that got me hooked, but we all moved on, and I've had one or two sessions since, online and otherwise. There's nothing I'd like more than to fall in with a chill group of people that are into their roleplay and stories, so here's hoping! I'm rusty as hell with D&D 3.5, and I'm inexperienced with most systems, but I am very much willing to learn, if people will be patient with me. I can be a bit shy when it comes to verbal roleplay, but I'm hoping I'll be able to warm up to it and get going when I'm more comfortable with the character and the group. Setting -wise, I'm game to try out most things. I have a preference for superheroic shenanigans and fantasy, but generic fantasy is fairly stale for me these days, so if there's a campaign out there that mixes the genre up and keeps it fresh, I'm sold! I'm particularly fond of original and homebrew settings . I am a huge fan of the Malazan series, so if there's one in that setting or in the same vein, sign me up . Systems , I'll try anything. I have some experience with 3.5, but it's been a very long time and I didn't play for long. I'm willing to learn anything! Heavy Roleplay ! I'm big into my stories and characters. I write as a hobby, and do written rolepay a ton, so some of the most enjoyable parts of a tabletop campaign is the story-driven stuff, for me. I just need to get better at actually playing  the characters. I'm available pretty much any time except for around 5ish-6:30PM GMT, due to dinner and the like, and I'm quite willing to stay up later than is normal for the right group. If you'd like to talk with me first or get to know me a bit before trying me out in a game, I am more than willing to provide contact details! I know my chances are slim, here, but it's worth a shot, and if you've come this far, thank you for taking the time to read my rambling ad!
If you're interested in Legend of the Five Rings, I'm currently planning a campaign which I hope to be long running.
I admit I've never looked much into it. What's your campaign like?
Planning a D&D 4.0 campaign on here. I am a story heavy DM (I've written and published several books). I have my own world that I hope players will become a part of. My games are living breathing games where NPCs have thier own adventures that the PCs learn about in between their own. I've DMed for 23 years. All D&D except 5th. Earthdawn, WoD. Ive done a lot. You are more than welcome to join if I can get the game together. PM me if interested. J
I've received a number of PMs about campaigns, and while they sound great, it'd be nice to have one that's closer to my timezone. I'm open to text-based campaigns as well, I should have said! Though I do get the feeling that EU games aren't terribly common.

I can only say maybe, right now, and get in touch. Liked your LFG post from the first day you posted this, I thought you would get something from the other offers. My game seems to be on appropriate time of day (we are 2PM central USA afternoons, this is around 8PM UK time). Some things in your Bio that seem to fit are, interest in RP, and being a long-time player from back in the day. We play in a homebrew world that I created that's expanded from worldbuilding of Players, big themes of character development; unique setting that sounds like it would catch your interests, high concept & high magic & high fantasy. I would not say low or generic fantasy but certainly has many of the familiar tropes, orcs, evil, dragons, Gygaxian dungeons and scenarios, but also some twists like certain monstrous characters and allies ala Complete Book of Humanoids; elemental bending from the Avatar Airbender cartoon series; and bits of planes-traveling, time travel, celestials, fiends, pantheons, fey, politics, investigations, exploring. We play AD&D 2nd Edition with some homebrew tweaks. I will send you a PM with more information. If you are interested in this possible game, Hugh, write back to me on PM mention "Adventures in Homebrew World" game. Happy adventuring!
