[LFGM][LFP] RuneQuest or Ars Magica

So I know not a lot of people play these but I am so sick of D&D that I've been considering requesting a "not D&D" button in the LFG system :) . That said, I know both of these games relatively well and can tell you they are very analytical and fun systems to play. They both have their merits, so if a GM either knows about these games (or is willing to pick it up) and wants to run something please let me know. I'll include some info about me down below: Basic Info: 26 Mic No kids in the background Few distractions (if any) Native English-speaker (American style ;) ) Preferences: Small party (even a solo or 2-person game would be awesome) Emergent gameplay Sandboxy-ish Dark/Scary/Adult content is all A-OK At least 1 game a week (possibly multiple smaller ones) If any players want to join in let me know and we'll see if we can find a GM or do some kind of round-robin. If something I've posted is confusing or you'd like to just test the waters with these systems let me know.
I'd be all over playing Ars Magica like woah. However, I live in Europe, so timezone could be a problem.

Possibly, I play odd hours. We will just have to look at specifics. Let's see how many people we find who are interested in each game. I'd really like to play RuneQuest but both games are very good. Unless we find a single dedicated GM, we will just rotate and take turns GMing but I will keep the party around 3 players/GMs.  If I'm one of the ones running the game, we will all sit down to discuss day and time. We will also decide between Skype or Teamspeak. For those who don't know, Ars Magica is a game where you play a mage in real history and can custom make your own spells. RuneQuest is a very crunchy system that can be put in any setting. Its combat and magic are both very lethal and it feels very immersive.

I will be around. I'll check Skype from time to time.
Cool Neil, glad to have you onboard. I think I just sent you a message on Skype so I'll leave it on for when you drop by.
I do enjoy both games. both are good for long running campaigns as it take time to build up a character. RQ6 is not as lethal as earlier version. But things can go bad fast. Luck points are the things that save the players. Ars Magica is a game that is good for a player group who's members may not always be able to attend. The players are mages (normally of different types of magic) who have set up a covenant in some out of the way location to have a safe place where they can study magic. Adventures are normally to find some type of power or aid friendly people. Adventures tend to be made up of group consisting of a mage (or two), one or two companions (player's alternate characters) and some "gogs" (the covenant's servant npcs). Being on an adventure can be good and bad. It take the mage away from his studies but allows him to find power for the covenant (and himself). I think this game works best with 5-6 player so there a good number of different types of magic is available to the covenant. I have played this a few time and it can be a ton of fun.
Neil H. said: I think this game works best with 5-6 player so there a good number of different types of magic is available to the covenant. Nothing a few NPCs can't fix :P The game generally assumes that there are a few other NPC mages living with the PCs in their covenant anyway. Personally, I prefer games with 3-4 players, as 5-6 over Skype can get unwieldy.
