An erinyes named Oresta, one of the fallen angels who serve Duke Furcas, appears to the party. She reveals that the cultists are building a chaos machine in the caves below the buried city, and this infernal contraction is part of the plan that Baphomet set in plan millenia ago to tip the scales of power toward Chaos. She command Malak and Elaryan to destroy the machine, then disappears. The party delves deeper into the buried city, fighting an assortment of fiendish creatures, including a chaos beast and two demons. They search high and low for the Adamantine Cog, but the cityis huge, and they have no indication of where to look. They eventually find a subterranean prison, guarded by a deformed cultist, whom they defeat. They release the jailer's prisoners: a halfling fighter named Eliava Farstride, a teenage girl named Kori Vessamor, a young man named Lorat Muester, a troll named Murlash, and an ogre named Ugglam. The prisoners follow the party for a while, but as it becomes clear that the heroes intend to proceed even deeper into the dungeon without rest, the captives decide to try their luck in the other direction, toward the sewers. Murlash in particular is very eager to lead his new friends to safety. Continuing onward, the party encounters a woman fighter with snakes for hair. They easily defeat her, but not before Elaryan looks into her eyes, and is turned to stone! Everyone who played gains 4000 XP ⇚ The Buried Tower The Mrathrach Machine ⇛
