Hello to all my roll 20 brothers and sisters. i recently have taken the time to appreciate the lore of dark souls and have come up with the thought of a Dark souls campaign. It would take place many years after the setting of dark souls 3 where the eternal flame exist only in small traces of the past which causes for Whats left of humanity ( The unkindled) to rise up in attempts to restore the world back to where it once stood, The era of the first flame which had a single attempt of being re enacted but turned out horribly wrong. Of course we would be taking the 5th edition outline of combat but have added in dark souls attribute system still using sorcery,miracles, and pyromantics as the main forms of magic I have many Hours spent on role 20 and have Dungeon mastered alot of campaigns . Some of which have gone on for many months, my exerience comes from 5th edition campaigns and many Homebrewed campaigns as well so i would def be stoked on the oppurtunity to create a dark souls setting for players to traverse through Let me know what your thoughts are on this. if it will be favorable i am currently making a campaign for it which is in the process of being fleshed out fully ^_^ Max amount of people would be 4 Below i will post a little bit of the lore which from the beginning is not my own but as the lords of cinder is where i have added in my own story since the worlds lore will be fresh when the players start (Sorry for some reason it would not let me space anything out. it just dissipated lmao ) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------The Age of Ancients--------- In the beginning the world unformed, shrouded by fog. It was a land of grey crags, arch trees and everlasting dragons. This time was known as the Age of Ancients. There was no such thing as life or death, everything was dull and grey, constant. ----------The Discovery Of The First Flame ------ "But then there was Fire and with fire came disparity. Heat and cold, life and death, and of course, light and dark. Then from the dark, they came, and found the Souls of Lords within the flame". With the Fire the first forms of life started to appear and eventually some of these living beings evolved and probably built their own civilizations under the ground. Three of them found the Souls of Lords within the Flame. They gained an inmense amount of power, so much that they would be able to defeat the everlasting dragons in the surface and change the order of the world. -------------The War Against The Dragons ----------------- "With the strength of Lords, they challenged the Dragons. mighty bolts peeled apart their stone scales. The Witches weaved great firestorms. a miasma of death and disease spread about the lands. And those within the enemy lines betrayed their own, and the Dragons were no more." The Gods, with the power of the Flame, developed the strength necessary to defeat the dragons, miracles and pyromancies. ------------The Age of Fire------------ With the Dragons Defeated the Lords Settle their own Kingdoms. Together they proclaim themselves Gods. During the Age of Fire a number of Human Kingdoms rose ------------------The Fading of the Flame and The Birth of Demons--------- Eventually the Fire began to Fade. One of the lords decided to go and relink the Flame, He bequeathed Shards of his soul to his children, His Advisor, and the 4 Kings. Upon relinking the Flame he became hollow. One Lord decided to try and recreate the First Flame. This went horribly wrong and the Chaos Flame and Bed Of Chaos is born, a twisted mockery of the First flame that gave rise to Demons. -----------------The Chosen Undead ------------ "Only, in the ancient legends it is stated, that one day an undead shall be chosen to leave the undead lands, in pilgrimage, to the land of ancient lords, Years pass since the Linking of the First Flame and it has once again begun to fade. Legends state that a Chosen Undead will Rise up and Relink the Flame. One such Undead Succeeds where many have failed. The Chosen Undead collects the 3 Lord Souls and their Shards and journey's to the Kiln of the First Flame. It is uncertain if the Flame was relinked or Not, but many others have ventured forth to do so. ------------The Curse and The Cycle------------ "As flame rises, so does it fade. Such is the way of things." All Undead will eventually hollow. For souls to flourish once more the fire must be relinked. Some complete their task becoming Sublime Bonedust. Some refuse to be sacrificed and carve out Kingdoms instead. Even when the Flame sputters and Dies, it will rise up and burn once more. This is the Cycle of Perpetual Fire and Twilight. One must and will forever succeed --------------------Lords Of Cinder-------------------- There are currently 5 Lords of Cinder, all 5 of their ashes are needed to reenact the Linking of the First Flame. The 5 Lords Are collected by the chosen undead and the first flame is set within his eyes. Instead of continuing the cycle as time has repeated over and over again..the chosen undead decides to extinguish the flame so that the eternal cycle comes to an end… or so it seemed. His way of doing so lead to the chosen undead imbuing himself with the flame. --------------------The Land of Grey---------------- Imbuing himself with the flame. The world sprouted into a system of stasis as souls were generated no more. The stasis of time spread insanity throughout the world causing for pandemonium to outbreak around the lands. Unable to keep the flame to himself the “true Lord’(Chosen undead) decided to imbue a select few with the flame to spread out those they saw worthy. -------------------The End of The Second Flame----------------- Spread out those they saw worthy. This caused for the unkindled to crave the life they could not have. The shift of the world changed overtime as each lord created their own territories ranking from lowest chosen to the highest esteem. The cycle being repeated once more The Chosen undead seeing this sacrificed himself to the bed of chaos in hopes of ending the flame forever. But instead sent him into insanity which turned the other lords insane as well. The new creed being born as the era of the first flame came to an end. The lords kept their power to themselves Just as the chosen undead had done long ago. --------------------The Rise of The Unkindled-------------------------- "As flame rises, so does it fade. The cycle forever continues." The flame overtime began to fade and the lords unable to relink the first flame refused to sacrifice themselves to keep the flame alive and horded the dying flame. Those who had received flame from the lords attempted to spread the flame to those they felt were meant to defeat the lords once more so that the flame may live on. At the Bottom of the kingdom the Bonfire chooses the unkindled..the Flame maidens guide those meant for victory. Once the Bonefire chooses the unkindled they are considered Ashen Ones and must be tested for worth. The Ashen One : Journey for the third flame Chosen by the Bonefire the Ashen ones are sent to the Holy testing grounds In order to determine their worth. Those that pass the test of cinders are sent on the pilgrimage into the charted territory Known as “The Land of Lost Hope” which is a compliment of Avion’s Castle and the lands that stretch around it. An Ominous journey surrounded with those that yearn to become kindled. Along the journey the ashen ones are meant to defeat the old lords and bring them to The chosen undead for the relinking of the second flame which will create the Third flame. The Ashen Judge Hilran the last giant Watches the lands before his majesties castle Novian The Heartless Seals the entrance to the land of thy lords Zovryn The Dragonrider Protects the skies stopping the ascension of unwanted Lephe The Maiden Stands as the speaker that separates man from the keeper Once loved by chosen undead Olin The Orphan Product of Power greed and destruction. An embodiment of the chosen undead’s sin Kadius The Keeper of Flame contains the second largest amount of living flame awaiting for his majesty’s return The Bed of Chaos Holds the Chosen one in the current state of Chaos Avion The Chosen Undead
