Hey everyone, First of all, this may be enough off-topic that it shouldn't be here, if it is I apologize. The group of friends that I play with is trying to get our voice chat to work better. We started with Ventrilo, but needing to borrow someone's server and frequent connection, volume, and distortion issues sent me looking for a better alternative. We've been using google hangouts for several sessions now, and I like that it is easy to get someone into the chat, but the lack of push to talk functionality (without something like a global push to talk program) is problematic for some people. We tried Discord during a recent session of The Strange, but had serious connection, volume, and distortion problems and we probably won't be going back to it. We also tried the native Roll20 voice/video chat feature, but had some issues with it (it's been about a year, so I don't remember what they were). One of my players has suggested mumble, but I'm leery of trying to get everyone to install and set up a new program if it's just going to be more difficulties. So, what do people use for voice and/or video chat? What programs have people had issues with? Any advice for getting discord/roll20 native to work better? Thanks, Scott TL;DR: Anyone have suggestions for a good voice and/or video chat program? Anyone have suggestions on getting the best performance out of discord or the native Roll20 feature?

We also tried the native Roll20 voice/video chat feature, but had some issues with it (it's been about a year, so I don't remember what they were). Please open a thread in the Bug Reports & Technical Issues forum to address such issues. Within this thread, please carefully work through Steps 1 through 8 of the Roll20 guide to Audio Visual Troubleshooting : Step 1: Make sure you’re using the most recent version of either Chrome or Firefox Please check if these issues persist when using both Chrome and Firefox. Step 2: Give Roll20 permission to use your microphone and camera Step 3: Make sure Video and Voice are turned on inside Roll20 Step 4: Clear your Web Browser’s Cache Step 5: Make sure you have the right ports open Step 6: Check if your camera is working with WebRTC Step 7: Check that your camera is functioning Step 8: Do a bandwidth test If none of the above succeeds, please thoroughly work through Step 9 : Step 9: Solving Technical Issues Step 9.2: Ensure that there are no extensions/addons interfering with Roll20 Please disable all add-ons/extensions and anti-virus programs. Step 9.4: Provide a bug report Please ensure that the Console Log is complete.
