Date: 9th-11th Patchwall, 609 CY Attendance: Wulrakas, Jareth, Cat ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recap: The group is teleported to a field overlooking the city of Edgefield, courtesy of Falx Templamut. Even from a distance it's easy to tell that the city is in disarray; the outer wall is a crumbling, mossy mess, and the large obsidian keep that towers over the city is partially collapsed. When they approach closer they see that the area is patrolled by a countless number of orcs, who bully the predominately human peasantry. They're able to bypass the orcish guards at the gate after Cat (who has turned into a glowing phantom wolf-pup [thanks to a weird, temporary wild magic surge brought on by the teleportation]) prestidigitation's their noses to turn different colors. Entering the city reveals that the interior is just as poorly kept as the outside; the roads are mostly dirt, and what little cobblestone there is is broken and falling apart. Cat's antics continue, with multiple spells cast to confuse and terrify the simple-minded orc bands within the city. Some time later, they save an older peasant from some orcs accosting him. The peasant tells them to head to Rostanna's House of Pleasure if they have questions about the city, so they do so. From here they're directed to a demonic-blooded woman drinking alone in the brothel. They learn that after the Days of Vanishing, the force of 10,000 strong Orcish slaves overtook the city. Led by an Orc known simply as 'Boss,' they've gradually destroyed the city thanks to ineptitude, laziness, and general stupidity. However, the demonic-blooded woman -- Jas -- says that she thinks the previous leader, Prince Hastern, has returned. She claims that she used to work in the Citadel, the large obsidian keep towering over the city. On one of her last days, she claims that she heard screaming and may have even seen one of the guards trapped within the walls themselves. The group decides to take over the city. Their plan is to use a combination of magical trickery and to dress up Jareth like an orc. They succeed in getting a good costume... (Session 56) ... but fail to take into consideration the fact that Jareth doesn't speak Orcish. The ruse is up as soon as Jareth and Wulrakas return to Rostanna's House of Pleasure. The two are nearly slaughtered but manage to snatch victory from a group of elite orcs. When Cat arrives -- back to his normal form -- he's absolutely baffled. Rostanna tells them to hide out in the back rooms; that she'll take care of the inevitable questions from the orc militia when they arrive. The following morning the group sets out for the Citadel. Cat sneaks through the poorly-kept gates and finds an entrance. When he wanders inside, however, he triggers a trap which blasts him with necrotic energies. Licking his wounds and returning to the others, it's decided that Cat will use magic to convince oblivious orc sentries to walk through the Citadel. The first is promptly killed by the trap, but the group follows regardless. After trying to move the corpse they set off the trap again. Cat, by this point, is a smoldering mess of burning fur. They return to Rostanna's to heal up before venturing out again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Experience: Alena – 0 XP (118,650 XP total) Wulrakas - 20,000 XP (250,750 XP total) Virgil - 0 XP (162,850 XP total) Cat - 16,000 XP (201,500 XP total) LEVEL UP 16 Jareth - 20,000 XP (201,500 XP total) LEVEL UP 16 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Loot: Coins (various, unfamiliar mints): 1,312 gold 50 silver 80 copper Mundane: Chainmail Spear (2) Greataxe (2) Javelin (4) Tattered Cloak Elite Soldier Badge (screaming, one eyed orc) [4]
