Gorefest Dungeon May 15th Session

This session we have joining us: • Stripe playing Rashi Talonfurr the Fire Cleric at 259 point. • Luke C. playing Kritty the Catfolk Swashbuckler at 292 points. • Naryar playing Brother Sarman the Martial Artist at 275 points. (According to previous session math). • Mark W. playing Kegorach the Wood Elf Wizard at 263 points. • Archie joining in and helping with some of the fights. Continuing off from the session two weeks ago and a quick recap, we come back to the group investigating the room only to be rudely interrupted by an unexpected burbling and an undead slime coming up from the well at the edge of the room. A semi-epic battle ensued as Rashi fought valiantly against gravity and his inability to stay upright against the attacks of the slime. Despite their best efforts, the group were forced to retreat past the previously closed door, nearly falling prey to the trap on the stairs beyond. Sarman and Rashi still managing to hold their own as Kritty and Sarman head on past them up into the darkness. Placing the Holy Fire of Isynsela in the doorway, the slime finally figured that it had enough of the torment and returned back to the depths of the well as Rashi scrambled back up the stairs, barely managing to drag himself over the trap. A bit more hectic than normal, Kritty nearly ran out of breath as he scaled the near 45 degree staircase, though this was merely temporary. Instead his fight came as he missed the signs of a trap. Stepping on the stair, the Scooby Stair trap activated and Rashi and Sarman failed to keep their balance and rolled back down the former staircase. The saving grace being that the slime had been kept from following them, otherwise it could be a real sticky situation. More cautiously than before, the team ascended further and further, up long narrow staircases and rickety wooden landings, a few traps sprung on the Swashbuckler, but with style, grace, and a lot of caterwauling he managed to dodge the deadly pit traps and punji stairs and lead the group up towards the hallway leading to the final room of the corridor. Taking a well-deserved breather at the top of the flights of stairs. No matter what it felt like, this group had managed to climb nearly 348 feet into the air, 116 yards into the air, 24 stories tall tower that none could actually recall existing as they originally entered the manor. The room they entered was grander than the hallway preceding it. A ten yard tall ceiling with large pillars extending all the way up into the shadows. On the walls are what appear to be windows, but even though close to them, the only thing seen through the glass was a deep black with hints of something worse beyond, hiding in the darkness. It didn’t take long before the battle began with a demand on the side of Kritty. With Sarman moving to strike, he was not one to accept the abuse. After flash stepping away from the attempted grapple, de la Mare began the assault by mentally stunning Kritty with scenes of his death. Avoiding another blow from the Martial Artist, he pulled back and summoned forth his zombie minions to attack the group as he supported them by casting Terror upon the two warriors. Kritty was lucky to get out of it with just his mind scarred. Kegorach brazenly attempted his best against the Necromancer, but his Strike Blind spell fell short, although he was still able to root the opponent’s feet. With Rashi bringing into bear the Holy Fire, de la Mare was stuck trying to escape. It was only by quickly phasing out that he was able to free himself and move, making sure to charge his staff with a spell. Unfortunately Kegorach had a counter to that as he caused a spasm to run through the group, forcing them to drop their weapons. But still the horde beat the group back towards the doorway as they tried to coordinate to bring them to the chokepoint, but the Necromancer wasn’t having any of that and the zombies were intelligent enough to realize it. One of them attempted to close the door and if it weren’t for the swashbuckler, he may have had an easier time. Unfortunately Kritty’s blows were strong enough to batter the zombie against the door and kill him, leaving a limp body in front of the door, preventing their previously easy exit. The session draws to a close as Kritty turns his attention to saving the cornered wizard, cutting down two zombies as the rest draw closer with a Skull-Spirit in tow. Rules officially introduced. Casting of Blocking Spells as Regular Spells. http://forums.sjgames.com/showpost.php?p=1929169&p... Per Kromm's ruling, you are able to cast a blocking spell as a regular spell. The downside to this is that you must still pay full price and it counts as the blocking spell for your turn unless you have the Blocking Spell Mastery perk.
