Skype group calls.

Hi, I'm dming a group on here, but the default voice chat hasn't been working for us very well. So, we switched to Skype last week. I was wondering if you guys know if there is some way to isolate a person during a conference call without ending the call. Like, say only one player learns a piece of information, is there any easy way to talk only to that person, temporarily. Maybe with a hotkey or something. I kind of doubt it, but I guess it can't hurt to ask. Thanks in advance.
I don't know of any that would be very cool if you could.   But you can use the text chat in either roll20 to whisper back and forth or use skype to have a private text conversation while still chatting with the group.

I simply leave the call with the player I need to talk to and then we rejoin, but we have a set group on skype that we use.
I find it difficult to keep talking to the other players as I whisper the one who has the information, and my group is fed up with voice chat fiddling by now, anyway. (We went through the default roll20 chat, then google+ hangouts, and finally settled on Skype over the course of three sessions, each time cutting nearly an hour out of time we should have been playing trying to get them to work.) So, I'll just tell them to roleplay really hard that they don't know crap they shouldn't know. Heh. Or whisper it if the information is really sensitive. Thanks for the suggestions, anyway, though!

Out of curiousity, what was the problem with Google+ Hangouts?  - Gauss

For some reason it kept crashing for one of our players. We never did figure out why. Edit: At first he was using Google Chrome, and when we couldn't fix it there, he switched to firefox, where it seemed to work at first, then started crashing again.

Interesting, did he look at his console while this was happening to see what the error was? - Gauss
I don't think so, no. Or, if he did, he didn't tell us about it.

If he ever wants to explore that I suggest checking out his console (and maybe his network tab in the console) to find out if there are any errors. Additionally I suggest he go to&nbsp; <a href="http://supportdetails.com/" rel="nofollow">http://supportdetails.com/</a> &nbsp;and report what he gets from that (except for IP address).&nbsp; Maybe we can see what is causing him issues.&nbsp; - Gauss
Hey, just wanted to suggest to the OP the option of using TeamSpeak program. It has a "whisper" function and also if you don't really feel like messing about with whisper settings you can always change a channel for talking to someone privately depending on what server you use. Check it out. I think it might solve your troubles. &nbsp;
Thanks! If I the players are amenable to trying another chat program, I'll give it a shot. Probably not soon, since they would probably rather just jump in and play, but at some point.
Teamspeak is good. But your most straightforward solution is going to be whispering in roll20 chat, or using the direct-messaging function of skype-net. Sure there will be some typing-delay. But if the information is going to make a difference it's probably worth it, no?
Indeed.
I frequently use the whisper function as well though often my players don't seem to see it so I have to say something like check your chat. Which then everyone knows. Or i have to open a text chat with them through skype to let them know. Honestly I wish they'd kinda just keep an eye on that chat but meh. The voice chat doesn't work so well on roll20 not sure why, also I'm sooooooooo not a fan of Google+ at all. I've already got youtube forcing it down my throat and actually now you can't make a new youtube account without using a gmail. It's rather annoying. Basically I use a facebook group to give everyone announcements and updates regarding the game, then I have a group call with them on skype and we play. The whispering is a very useful tactic, and what's funny is that I've just discovered that my characters when they want to carry on conversations or plots, like for example two of my chars have a romance going on right now, I can't see their whispers. I found that interesting.
