Gorefest Dungeon May 22nd Session Recap

The final session during this season of Gorefest Dungeon. • Stripe playing Rashi Talonfurr the Fire Cleric at 260 (-6-ish) point. • Luke C. playing Kritty the Catfolk Swashbuckler at 293 points. • Naryar playing Brother Sarman the Martial Artist at 276 points. • Mark W. playing Kegorach the Wood Elf Wizard at 264 points. • Archie joining in and helping with some of the fights. The session started off full of dread as Sarman moved to the fight the zombie before, attempting to sweep the leg before grappling the undead’s arm. Taking advantage of the situation, de la Mare stepped out of Rashi’s holy flame and cast Terror upon the group of explorers, his first casting was easily shrugged off while the second left Brother Sarman and Kritty drained and stunned from the experience. Not one to take it laying down, the combat continued, with Rashi finally activating Great Haste and attempting to drive the boss by moving the fire. Not to be intimidated by such a display, the boss instead grapples onto the stunned Brother Sarman and gets ready to cast Rotting Death on the Martial Artist as Kegorach takes care of the zombies surrounding him with a critical success, knocking down a host of zombies, though his next casting was lackluster as the zombie resisted the rooted feet spell. Driven to a fury, the Fire Cleric was filled by a divine fervor that took over his fate and delivered two resounding blows to the Necromancer’s head to knock down and stun the opponent. Unfortunately all that ended up occurring was him annoying the dark mage as there was no brain to rattle and Rashi was forced to combat the undead zombies. Managing to avoid most of the attacks, the stunned Swashbuckler and Martial Artist kept on their feet, though the latter was unable to resist the Rotting Death cast upon him. A sickness took over, even if he managed to avoid rotting from within. Rashi, still channeling Isynela’s fury sweeps the Necromancer to the ground and cripples his leg leading to an insult match between de la Mare and Rashi, infuriating the cleric. It wasn’t long before then that once all the combatants broke out of stun that they cut down the necromancer, the remaining zombies crumbled to dust and blew away along with the summoned Skull Spirit. Now dead, the summoned minions returned to where they came from with Rashi gaining the soul orb of the boss and restored a bit of his fate in the meantime. After a quick rest, the group explored the now changed mansion, traversing the Penrose Stairs that had cropped up before move up to the new stairs leading upwards to a new room. A large oval room with tall pillars and several planks between them leading to a button on a platform to the north that was connected to the hourglass to the south. Rashi, having entered first was conflicted about pressing the button and attempted to consult the team, though his hesitancy was to his benefit as the hourglass ran out and the gate opened. This room was only for one purpose, to delay them. Turning in this token, they were confronted by a familiar face. Four familiar faces in fact. Thanked for their participation in the Funhouse, they were promised a better time the next time they came around and were asked to exit through the gift shop. Perhaps a sense of disappointment was given upon entering a room of shelves, barren of any treasure. Though it was quickly assuaged at the sight of four chest that shone bright with a light as the items formed within. CP Award: •2CP for defeating a Boss •5CP for completing a dungeon. (Goes to ALL PC’s characters that have been posted at the time of completion.) •7 CP total. Loot Awarded: List will follow.

Channeling power/FP through it causes a chance for an elemental to spawn and attack you. This does not affect the overall worth of the gem.
im at 293 CP +7 = 300 on the nose
Luke C. said: im at 293 CP +7 = 300 on the nose Not quite. You're technically at 299 due to the quirk gained during the fight with de la Mare. More specifically, you have gained the quirk: Forbidden Word (Necromancer) [-1]. This is a psychological aversion to uttering the word "Necromancer". Rashi has gained 3 points of the Necromancer's traits as follows: •1cp of Hidden Lore (Undead) •1cp of Poisons •1cp of Intimidation This is what the boss looks like: de la Mare
By the way, I think for me, this was that elusive "That one session" that Stripe always talks about. If only because of how crazy everything went right up to the boss calling Rashi's goddess a whore.
Look at all that phat lewt! Sounds like you had an epic fight worth of the tales right there. GG! =)

Valter said: Sounds like you had an epic fight Hahaha, not really. You should have been here though. It was hilarious. 10/10 would get stunned for four combat rounds (and take zero damage*) again. *from the enemies
Fantastic session! Ended on a high note! I agree, this was one of the top 3 sessions here at Gorefest Dungeon and I'm jealous that you've ran two of them! I had a blast! I got so drunk I don't even remember the end, but I see today I rolled up an artifact?! Awesome! Anyway, how did my one turn go? Everyone but Rashi was either stunned for multiple turns or had undead literally piled atop them. Rashi only had one zombie in his hex and wasn't grappled. I giant-stepped back and over (so as not to waste a whole maneuver on an Evade), then attacked the boss with my quarterstaff aiming for the skull. I spent 3 or so CP to make it crit, then rolled a 6 or 7 on the crit head table to make it a major wound (despite him not having a brain; I thought he was a living person/necromancer, not an undead litch). So, he had to roll a 7 to stay standing . . . but you rolled a 6 and did! Since I was Grate Hasted I got the chance to do it again, but I had to roll the exact same result to get the major wound. Amazingly, I did; I rolled the 6 on the crit hit head table. However, you rolled a 6 to stay standing again! Cost me 5 CP or so, but as far as I think we all could tell, we were dead if I didn't knock him out. That was some epic dice rolling. The dice were a big factor in that game. Great dungeon and great job GM'ing! Good game, all my fellow players! Great season everyone! Thanks for participating and helping us all to have a great time role-playing! Looking forward to my regular return in Autumn. Until then, I'll be around and I'll be sporadically running one-shot pickup games right here in the Gorefest Dungeon channel. Hope to see everyone come around as often as possible. Make sure to keep eyes on the forum for any announcements such as a randomly-scheduled game every now and again not to mention our next season's opening date. I know Archie has a dungeon and Chris is about done with another, plus I have what I consider my greatest dungeon ever, though I'll open next season with it. Keep in touch! My email is: GURPSDF@Gmail.com Even if you've given me your e-mail before, if you want me to put you on a list and e-mail you when we start next season, PM me your address. Hope to see everyone around next season! — Richard Sharpe, a.k.a, "Sharpe103", a.k.a., "Stripe"
I do believe that next session is going to be a "town session", so come prepared for just general chatting, selling and buying stuff, character advancement and character building. If things go well then we'll get some quest info rolled up and maybe start another dungeon on June 5th.
Chris, are you requesting people attend next Sunday at noon? I probably can, actually, but no promises at all. In fact, assume I won't be there, but don't be too surprised if I do show. Of course, I'll probably see you more than once between now and then, but I'm just clarifying that for everyone. Also, I should have written something up about it, but if you guys do continue to play here in the Gorefest Dungeon Roll20 channel—and like I say, I'll continue to pay the bill and will be glad to know people are using the room—please take a roll-call and vote using at least some semblance of Roberts Rules of Order like we've always done. One of the reasons I insist is so that no one gets left out. Pick-up one-shots without quorum are just fine, of course, but not ones with the "main" characters we use in Gorefest*. No one could be blamed for having hard feelings if they enter the R20 game room and three or four people are playing and they never received notice or had any idea that a game was going to happen. That's not cool. That said, I hereby appoint you, Chris, as acting primary GM until fall when I return "officially." No, you can't refuse the position, no it doesn't pay unless you count virtual room and board, but I'll support your every decision in the meanwhile. That even comes with responsibilities regarding player base, though all those decisions should come with a vote, just as I always did when it came to seeking new players (Mark in the latest case). Since we're in the "off season," though, no one currently has any responsibilities unless they accept such in vote (for example, voting to have official Gorefest Dungeon sessions starting June 5 and lasting until a certain date). Those votes CAN happen here in the forums rather than in real-time such as R20 chat or TeamSpeak, but such motions aren't binding unless enough vote to make quorum. I've asked everyone several times to always keep an eye on this forum and everyone, even Luke!, has always done so pretty well. Any player, past or present, may vote if they so desire. To everyone who has ever played Gorefest Dungeon: if you want to return next season, be sure to start really paying attention to the forums the closer to Fall that we get. We'll decide what we're going to do at that time, but expect me to run the first dungeon of the season. After that, we'll be more open about who runs dungeons. Chris, Archie, even Naryar I think have all offered to run, and we're open to considering more (Mark?). The way we might handle it is in-game with the DF: 2 quest-finding rules. There might be multiple available dungeons, and the player characters decide where to delve and thus, who will run the dungeon. So, expect an even more diverse third season! Rules changes may or may not come, but expect to hear more about that closer to the start of next season. No matter what, though, Gorefest Dungeon will remain episodic Dungeon Fantasy dungeon crawl. Thanks for reading! Hopefully, I'll talk to you all soon in R20 chat and here on the forums.
*I reserve the right to run a few one-shots for Chris' PC so he can have a chance at the same point total everyone did.
...As far as I have seen, we are continuing the campaign with the current group so far ?
Everyone seems to have picked up one or two very nice things, good rolls! I vaguely remember being there at the time but it seems that I was more tired than I'd thought. The fight was a lot of fun on my side, and it's been good practice for designing and running my own stuff. I can't work on my dungeons much at the moment since exams are due to start soon, but once those are done I'll be popping in and running sone mini dungeons myself - some practice for clear speed on you guy's side and GIMP practice on mine =) As to the canoninity of those though, I couldn't tell you - I know that I wouldn't want to be the guy turning up at the start of next season with two hundred and sixty points with everyone else in the five hundreds!
Stripe said: Chris, are you requesting people attend next Sunday at noon? I probably can, actually, but no promises at all. In fact, assume I won't be there, but don't be too surprised if I do show. Of course, not everyone has to show (this is why I said if everything goes right we might make quest rolls), but I'm betting that probably a few folks might come by. Just need to let them know that it won't be anything more than a "town session" if that does happen. While I'll be happy to run another dungeon, I do need a small break from it. This one started on February 28th and it just finished on May 22nd. Turns out that I did have a fairly good idea of the timeline though and if you and Luke could have made it to the May 8th session we would have finished last week as I was planning. But I understand that there are more important things out there. I will say that, at least in my case, if a "spontaneous" dungeon happens then there will be a notice on the forums at least a couple days, hopefully a week, before it happens and it should hopefully always be on a Sunday so all can participate.
I'm going to keep those bolas, probably. Ranged disarming and battlefield control and getting people prone with one of my best skills, aka Throwing Art ? Yes please. Although I feel they will cause some rule trouble, because the bolas rules are a bit lacking in Basic Set. We'll just have to discuss over that earlier than a session.
I suppose I'll step in again in Stripe's place if he's unable to make it.
Sounds like a good idea, Brandon. We can always figure out roles and whatnot coming up.
Have a feeling I'ma be the healer again. xD

Well I do have a healer (sort of) but he only has Minor Healing, soo... He's more of a jack of all trades anyway. You can easily make a cleric that has Major Healing AND decent weapon skills, and stuff like Blessed (DX), Might/Armor/this DX-increasing spell if you want a warrior cleric.
I'd actually like to try out Scout or Artificer.
i added the quork and yep 299 CP lol also nice to see you looking to come back brandon :D now what to spend my cash and CP on (sits and ponders) :D

I can't wrap my head around the thought of Kritty spending cash, really... Also, about who gets healer duty : we'll see if the group changes, if we keep our old chars. As far as I go, I am unsure about continuing to play Sarman or retiring him temporarily. I don't think Artificer IS allowed, but we'll have to see. I'd like to try Elementalist or Mystic Warrior, as far as templates go.
Sadly, we are still restricting the templates so artificer is still locked and Mystic Warrior is doubly locked. Even if you could use the Mystic Warrior template, it would be sad and empty as imbuments are banned.

DF7 is allowed so you could try for an Artificer-priest, but I'm not sure whether that work-around would be appreciated by the Management. I thought that Messenger/ Rogue priests and holy warriors looked pretty neat myself so I wouldn't mind being the walking bandaid next season what with Lou being even more irrelevant now that he's crippled. Knights are cool too, though, and I think that I still have Ilthmier's sheet lying around. Jarleth is still in reserve as well, haven't brought him out yet.
Aw... Guess I'll go with Scout then.
