Guidelines for Creating Art for the Marketplace?

Hi,  I was unsure where exactly to post this question, but are there any guidelines, sticky posts, or specific forums that could explain the method of submitting artwork to the marketplace? I am interested in trying my hand at a few things, but have no idea where to get started in terms of formats, submission guidelines, etc.  If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it and, again, apologies if this is not the appropriate spot to have posted this question.
