The old life

A shadow moves silently across the town of Lerton, making its way to a certain house.  No sound is made as the window is slipped open, so far this approach has been perfect.  A wicked and twist blade emerges from under the assassin's cloak, the dagger is fashioned to look like a bat.  The legs and claws make the hilt and the paired wings extend up to form twin blades.  Standing above the bed the assassin's blade drives into the form only to see straw instead of the blood the assassin is used to seeing. Under her breath the assassin whispers 'Damn, checkmate.'  As the blade of a rapier slides under her chin. 'Who?' Is the single word whispered from one assassin to the other. 'Fuck you Wrast, you knew we would come for you.  You should have never left you know he would not stand you leaving the family.' 'Sorry Dahlia, I really am but...'  The rapier slides across the assassin's neck cutting deep enough to prevent any last words from the killer turned victim. Wrast's second rapier stabs through the sleek form of the female assassin and she vanishes as the blade soaks her very essence from this world.

'Shit, he is going to send ...' Wrast turns on his heels and races through the door out towards Rosalyn's new home.  His form jumping from shadow to shadow as he slides through the space between shadows. Ahead in the distance he sees Rosalyn's new home and two figures enter the home.  The ex-assassin swears under his breath, 'Fuck why was I so stupid?'  Wrast shifts fully into a being of pure shadow and slides through the space between two slates in the house.  He spies the first killer heading upstairs he must be dealt with first.  The dual rapiers form along with the elf from pure shadow striking down the man heading upstairs but not before the skilled assassin is able to get a blade between Wrast's ribs. A scream from the kitchen, Rosalyn must be there.  'What dumb luck I choose the wrong one first.'  The hired killer advances on Rosalyn but the retired fighter is not such easy prey as at the last moment she saw the dagger and parried it with her small garden shovel.  She bought just enough time it turns out as a thin line on the man's Adam's Apple expands as the point of a rapier emerges from behind him.  Wrast smiles but also worries since the last time he talked to this woman she stabbed him 5 times. 'I am glad you are sa...' The words cut short as two crossbow bolts slam the elf in the back, one passing clean through his lower back and the other stuck firm as it struck his shoulder blade.  The bolt that passed through pinned firmly in the chair dripping poison on the ground. The sickly green liquid sizzling as it dropped upon the wood floor. Wrast's vision fades as he sees Rosalyn armed with his rapier spill the guts of the last assassin on her living room floor.
Oh my no!!  *Bites nails nervously*
Oh shit.

A cold wet rag soaks across his eyes, blocking his view of the room. 'You're the one Talia told me about, the one that was watching out for me.' the voice sounds stern but comforting.  'Thank you for your help tonight and before.'  A sudden pain pierces Wrast's stomach as the woman stitches the arrow wound. 'I have sent a message to Talia I would expect her to be by soon, she is heading off to the mountains to the southeast soon.'  'Drink this it should help with the poison.'  She lowers a cup to his lips and he sips the foul smelling liquid as he thinks 'Why do all cures smell like shit and taste worse?' Overtaken once more by the pain of his wounds and the poison coursing through his body Wrast once again passes out. Rosalyn stands next to the sofa she moved the elf to and whispers to him 'Thank you you really did help me through a tough time.'  Rosalyn then walks back to the kitchen the tall white haired Vhoori had come by just minutes before.  'I missed you all this time' Vhoori states to his love 'I have always loved you Rosalyn and I always will.'  Rosalyn tears up and runs to Vhoori, 'I am sorry for everything and I am sorry for wasting all this time, I love you too.' The two stand in each others arms for hours.
Oh gosh! I have been super busy over the past week and just now got a chance to read this. So nerve wracking! I'm glad that Rosalyn was able to essentially repay Wrast by fixing him up. I was definitely worried for him reading through this! I'm glad Rosalyn and Vhoori were finally able to talk, I was wanting that but not wanting to push it on her.
