Hello to all of you aspiring PCs! I've decided that since it's impossible to find groups to be a player in here on Reddit, I may as well run my own campaign. Please read on to find out if this would be a good fit for you. Also, it doesn't matter if you are new to d&d or not. This may turn into a wall of text, FYI. I'm hoping to recruit 4-6 players for this game. If, as you are reading this find yourself relating to the qualities herein, then you are exactly who I am looking for! I will do my best to outline, and provide as much information in this post to hopefully give you, and myself the best opportunity to find the best group we can. I'm looking first and foremost for players who have a DESIRE to play. What does this mean? Well, im sure we have all been a part of a group where it falls apart for one reason or another. In my experience, more often than not it is due to players losing an interest, or just plain out not wanting to play. This, as im sure you know is single handedly the most frustrating thing to have happen. As a DM, we put in a lot of time forging our worlds and stories. And when someone just quits, it hurts the whole group. Everyone puts In time. I will not beat a dead horse and go on a rant, but I am looking for players who WANT to play, and if they become genuinely unhappy, will try to talk to me, or the other players on how to find a middle ground if need be. I can promise to bring you content that is not half-assed, and barring an emergency, I will be there 100% of the time. It would be a priority in my life. What is my goal? Well quite simply, to have fun. If would bring me much joy in my life if I get to know a handful of people, and we enjoy what we do so much that a year from now we are still playing. One day we could look back and be like "holy cow, we started playing this a year ago??" Or however long. My goal is longevity. Some player types that I am not interested in are the players who wanf to min/max everything. While I'm not saying that d&d cannot or should not support that, I personally find more joy in the story, the role-playing, and problem solving. As such, I want everyone going into this expecting a rough ratio of 70/30 role-playing to combat. I've found that when players get attached, and give life to their characters, they have more fun. One other aspect to discuss is the overall mood of the game. What i mean is, how much joking around and Tom foolery goes on. I'm all for laughing and having a good time. But we are also playing to accomplish a goal/mission of sorts. If a player is just trolling 80% of the time, that would become annoying. I expect players to be serious when it's normal to be serious, and to have fun in moderation. I swear, I'm not a game nazi! I just want to try to provide the best game experience I can for all, including myself. I do not want to babysit. I want to be clear on this. It does not matter how old you are to play, but I shouldn't have to wonder if you are going to show up or not, where you are...and many other things. Meta-gaming, keeping track od your character sheet, ect ect. Along those same lines, please don't cheat. I wish I didn't have to put this out there, but it's happened. All it does is ruin the experience of the game. Now onto the fun stuff! This will be a 5E campaign. I will have very few homebrew rules. Most will be minor tweaks so that it makes the game more enjoyable, faster gameplay, or because something just doesn't make sense. Also some things may just become homebrew after they have been encountered. To begin with, I will be running a world with just the normal races, teiflings and dragonborn will not be in. Sorry. We will be starting at level 3. This is important, remember that tiny fact. As far as scheduling, my schedule is flexible. A schedule will be decided upon once a group forms. Please also speak English well enough to be able to hold a conversation. If you have read this far, and find yourself feeling connected to the same values, and would like to potentially join, then I have a two step process for recruitment. Players will also be expected to be able to Skype without a problem, have a working headset w/mic, and have the PHB readily available. If you want to rules lawyer something, you better be able to tell me a page number so i may look it up and confirm. Please send me a private message here on Reddit with the following information. Experience with d&d in any capacity, why you want to join, why I should pick you to be a part of this group, age (mainly to know how PG we have to keep it should you join), your availability, and class/play style preference. Quick note: if you PM me, i WILL respond. Too many people on Reddit ignore their PMs. You will hear back from me. You will be required to create a character for this campaign. Please remember what level they are supposed to be. For this, I am more concerned about who your character is. Give them life. Give then a back story. Put some thought, and heart into this. You do not need to supply me a character sheet, but we will do this over Skype. Do not PM me your character please. (I mean you will need a character sheet, but I will not need it as part of recruitment) Please leave all questions that I may have missed covering here in this thread. Please PM me with the info if you are interested in joining. If you tell me you are Interested in joining here in the thread, I will kindly remind you to PM me. Simple following of directions is all, and it helps me stay organized. Thank you all for reading. I truly hope that we can form a group that can enjoy playing for a while to come!
