World Of Darkness - Beast the Primordial Crossover: New Players Are Welcomed & Encouraged!!!

1466654804

Edited 1471454851
Update: Even though the title states Beast: The Primordial Crossover -PCs are allowed to play whatever supernatural character they wish within reason.  There are multitudes of NPCs from all walks of nWOD so feel free to play whichever one you feel most comfortable or interested in :).   ____ About Me : My name is Volke and I am a fairly new to the World of Darkness. This will be my first time leading a campaign on Roll 20, and in World Of Darkness as a whole. So I am prepared to make mistakes, but I will do my best to provide a quality, and excellent experience as a storyteller. I have roleplayed in the past through WOW, DayZ, and other platforms and played in other tabletops like D&D 4th edition. Overall however, I'd argue that I am a new GM, so I expect patience to be expected for both myself and other players. Game Setting : The setting for the game is June 2015 within Ontario, Canada. The world has an almost identical history to ours except for slight variations. Within the world also exists the ability to connect to the Primordial Realm, Astral Realm the Inner Soul, the Underworld, the Hedge, and so much more! The environment is serious and realistic, and the roleplay will reflect this. Crossover Elements : Currently, the Crossover includes most if not all of the various types of supernaturals within the NWOD Universe (Including Kindred, Mage, Promethean, Sin-Eater, Unchained, Beast, Hunter, Changeling, Mummy, and many others). It will be a hell of an adventure! Game System : The game will use 2nd Edition books and mechanics if avaliable, otherwise we will use slightly altered rulesets for the various WOD games. There will be some homebrew rules included as well. Playtimes & Timezones : Currently, we are playing on Tuesday Nights at 8pm EST. Please post at least 3 times you are available to play besides Tuesday Nights; in case a change is required. With this stated however, I am expecting to place once a week at least, twice if there is time available. I will accommodate to player's needs and we will play as often as the players wish with no less than 1 game a week. IMPORTANT INFORMATION New Players welcomed and encouraged! - As I am fairly new to GMing/Storytelling , I love new players and showing the ropes. I will assist you in whatever way I can necessary. My only dislike towards player types are ones that attempt to use their rules to their advantage at every opportunity. Roleplay is the priority. - There will be combat and other challenges as well but the roleplay and narrative is the key. I am looking for players who wish to use tabletop roleplay and immerse themselves within the world. Every action: combat, skill, or conversation is expected to be roleplayed out. When rules and roleplay interfere, roleplay will win. Both Text and Voice RP will be required & encouraged. - Text RP will be used to not interrupt people who are talking in a scene to prevent chaos as well as in order to engage in RP before, and after sessions. Skype is required for organization along with a Mic for vocal communication . Your decisions should all be based on your character's decisions. - As roleplay is a priority, your character's wants should be their wants (not your own!). There will be mature content & themes - The age requirement is 17+ due to the themes presented. Respect of players and GM is a priority - No verbal abuse, or harassment will be tolerated. If you are uncomfortable, speak up immediately. - If at any time throughout the campaign, a scene or situations comes up that you are uncomfortable with , please voice yourself immediately. Rules are up for discussion - If there is a table conflict due to the rules, we will spend no more than 2 minutes to come to a decision, if the conflict cannot be resolved by than, a note will be made and research on the subject will happen after the game is complete. The in-game situation will operate accordingly. Every player can choose what supernatural they wish to play as. Originally - it was a Beast only campaign; however - we now allows any supernaturals within reason. Please discuss with me what you are interested in. The current party consists of a Kindred, Sin-Eater, and a Beast. HOW DO I JOIN? To join the campaign, please send me a private message with the following information: Note: The applications are expected to be filled out with respectable amount of information. I am determined to have people who are committed, and wish to tell/experience a story. I expect a somewhat cohesive backstory, and a description of your horror. I also request that applicants fill out a "Social Contract" of sorts in order to see if the goals of this campaign and my GM style, links with your own desires. Name: (This means your Real Life name/whatever you would like to be addressed as) Age: (This is your Real Life age; I do not discriminate on age, and your information will be kept private from other players. This is for my ears only) Player Motivation: (This means what style you as an Rper distinguish yourself as. I will leave information about Player Motivation below additional information) Why do you want to join this campaign? : (Why do you feel that you are a good fit for this group? What can you bring to the group in terms of Roleplay?) Background (Rough backstory, doesn't need to be super indepth - however I expect there to be a cohesive storyline of who your character is , where he works, etc. More information is always better) Horror: Horror information is below if required otherwise put N/A or leave this blank. Additional Information: If you have any additional information that I should know, please leave it here. SOCIAL CONTRACT A social contract for a role-playing game group is a formally or informally defined agreement or understanding between all players concerning the way the game will be conducted. The Questions for the social contract are posted below. Here are the questions that I would like answered: Name 3 times you are available to play besides Tuesday Nights; in case a change is required: What do you feel should be allowed/not allowed in table discussions? How much banter should be tolerated? Where do you draw the line in terms of dark RP? Murder, Rape, Abuse? Is there any line in the sand that would make you, the player uncomfortable? What is the expectation around character death? Under what circumstances can it happen/not happen? Is it okay for PCs to be comfortable being competitive with each other? To what extent is this okay/not okay? (Examples like PCs killing each other, PCs setting each other up for traps, etc.) Is betraying players allowed? What are your wants and desires within the campaign? How many hours would you like to play in a single session? (Assuming we start at 7PM EST) If there is an argument at the table how should we solve it? Example: Stop the game till the problem is solved) If the GM and a player disagree – what is the best way to solve this dispute? How long would you like this campaign to go on for/how long can you commit to it? To what extent is rule-lawyering allowed during game? In case of scenes with mechanics: are players allowed to talk and give advice when someone Is making a decision during a scene? How should we handle players who are late/cannot make a session? In what ways can players contribute to the story/setting/Game? Should a TPK (Total Party Kill) be allowed and under what circumstances? _____ With that said, I look forward to speaking with you, and I appreciate the time you took to read this :) Additional Information if required: If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please free to reply to this thread, send me a private message, or add me on skype. My skype username is Wrath110 if you need to reach me. If you have sent an application to me before: you may send another one. If you wish to play a Beast - I would request that you include your horror in your applicaton. I will leave some paragraphs explaining what they are/what I expect from it. (Information comes from Beast: The Primordial Core Rulebook) Player Motivation: Player Motivation refers to what type of gamer are you - and what you seek out of games. Many people strongly identify in multiple categories, but usually feel closest to a particular motivation The Power Gamer : Get more powers and use them often and efficiently. The Butt-Kicker: Enjoys combat and pwning NPCs! The Tactician: Likes to beat complex situations through thought and planning. The Specialist: The one who always plays a <insert character type>. Ninjas and Dritzz clones are popular. The Method Actor: Likes total immersion in a character’s assumed persona, whatever the costs! The Storyteller: Enjoys exploring a story unfold around a character’s actions and choices. The Watcher/Lurker: Shows up to be with friends and share the social energies of the group without necessarily being motivated by the usual incentives. The Instigator: Likes to make things happen and trigger awkward situations The Outlier : Seeking the emotional kick of subverting a group’s dynamic by creating weird characters or actively seeking failure. Horror While humanity confidently declares that no monsters hide in the shadows, deep down it knows better. The dragons, the giants, the kraken, the gorgons, all the great monsters of legend and nightmare — they may not walk the world openly, but people know what they see in their dreams. Humanity searched for them in deep caves and dark forests when they should have looked within, where the true monsters dwell. The great creatures of myth and legend are still very much with us. Beasts are expressions of these dread creatures in the flesh. From their lairs deep within the Primordial Dream, the old nightmares merge with chosen humans by Devouring their souls, as they have since before history was written. The synthesis of the two allows them to walk the mortal world, sowing dread and harvesting ruin to feed their boundless appetites. It is important to understand that the Horror is not a flesh and- blood monster. The Horror is much more iconic than that, existing primarily as a dread spirit entity in the darkest depths of the Primordial Dream. Some Horrors are storied monsters of legend, while others saw their cultures die around them as their tales were forgotten. Still others are new creatures, born of more modern fears and fantasies. Whatever its form, whatever its origins, in the moment of oblivion when a Horror Devours a human’s soul, a new Horror is born. The newborn Beast joins with this Horror and becomes one of the Begotten. Your character’s Horror is how he appears in the safety of his Lair. When characters see his aura, they see this manifestation of who he is inside, past the meat and bone of his human body. Describe your character’s Horror in broad, evocative strokes; avoid creating an extensive catalog of every scale, claw, or pustule. Give his skin texture. Point out key distinctive features, like fists as big as truck tires or painfully smooth facial symmetry. (Include a drawing/picture that will also express this if you wish - this however does not exclude the description process)
If anyone has further questions, feel free to PM me :). I'll try my best to help with any concerns.
Still looking for another player or two.  If your interested, I look forward to speaking with you!

I'd also like for any feedback on the actual thread itself: If you have any advice - let me know :). Currently we have a party of 4 players - we are looking for 1 more.  If this interests you - feel free to contact me!
Name: Bob.  Well technically David, but pretty much only my parents call me that.  I respond to Bob/Vosh/any combination thereof. Age: 31 Player Motivation: Out of that list, I suppose tactician. Why do you want to join this campaign? : I mostly want to play a WoD game after finally playing Vampire the Masquearde Bloodlines (the increasingly aging 2004 PC game). As for what I can offer the group...I honestly don't know the system, and my only WoD experience was VTM back in 2002, and reading the books for changeling and Mage. Background: Again, I have no experience or knowledge in this system. I'll see where I can find books, and will let you know after that. Horror: Again, I will need to hit the books before concluding on this. Sounds rather cool though. Here are the questions that I would like answered: Name 3 times you are available to play besides Tuesday Nights; in case a change is required: Anytime Monday, I work nights beyond Monday/Tuesday. I can do up until 10pm central time Wednesday-Saturday. Sunday I run a game, and will not available. What do you feel should be allowed/not allowed in table discussions? How much banter should be tolerated?: Out of character discussions of what to do aren't allowed, and banter/jokes are done with text with RP is voice I don't see much problem with it. Recaping is obviously good, especially for people that miss a session. Where do you draw the line in terms of dark RP? Murder, Rape, Abuse? Is there any line in the sand that would make you, the player uncomfortable? I am not comfortable with roleplaying sexual acts, but merely mentioning it happens or even doing it with other players won't bother me. What is the expectation around character death? Under what circumstances can it happen/not happen? Character death that is logical is fine, any time you die for no reason (be it your own stupidity, or plotting by unseen forces would both be logical for this purpose) would be terrible. Dying due to bad rolls in combat don't bother me. Is it okay for PCs to be comfortable being competitive with each other? To what extent is this okay/not okay? (Examples like PCs killing each other, PCs setting each other up for traps, etc.) Is betraying players allowed? I am game for any level of PvP, so long as it is clearly stated ahead of time what level of betrayal is allowed. What are your wants and desires within the campaign? Fun RP exploring a new system in a vaguely familiar setting. How many hours would you like to play in a single session? (Assuming we start at 7PM EST) I can play however long we want, about 4 seems standard before exhaustion comes in. If there is an argument at the table how should we solve it? Example: Stop the game till the problem is solved) Rules arguments: GM/ST rules quickly, look it up later for future reference. Player vs player has never really come up for me before, so I am not really sure how to proceed. I've always played games in person with friends, so never been an issue. If the GM and a player disagree – what is the best way to solve this dispute? GM's rules, if the player doesn't like it he should walk. Obviously the GM should take feedback, be receptive if most of the players seem to be in agreement, but he is the final adjudicator. How long would you like this campaign to go on for/how long can you commit to it? I can commit to as long as it takes. I honestly like it be a long time. To what extent is rule-lawyering allowed during game? Until it disrupts the flow of the game. In case of scenes with mechanics: are players allowed to talk and give advice when someone Is making a decision during a scene? If the player asks, and is new to the system I don't see the problem. Obviously not to the extent where someone is puppeting another character. How should we handle players who are late/cannot make a session? Shit happens, if it is consistent they may have to be kicked. This should be handled relatively democratically. In what ways can players contribute to the story/setting/Game? I'm not sure if I follow this question, but I'll give it a stab. The players are the main characters to a story. Their every action has weight that will influence the world to some extent, and the interaction between players/npcs is what gives the plot written by the GM its flavor. Repetitive sessions should further reinforce the setting and the characters. Should a TPK (Total Party Kill) be allowed and under what circumstances? Same way as player deaths. Obviously it sucks, but I've always maintained you should only touch dice when you aren't sure how it should happen. Sometimes it really is the best ending to a game. I'll edit this if I can find the book at my bookstore/find a place to get the pdf.  After learning the system a bit.
Name: Dee Age: 20 Player Motivation: The Tactician, The Storyteller Why do you want to join this campaign? : I'm a new DM looking to learn a little from other DM;s styles to improve my own. Background No idea yet, I just have a charecter name so far. Horror: Derrick is a Gorgon, his eyes are an eerie green as is his hair as well. Additional Information: My schedule is pretty much set by my classes which will start 8/22/16, if i can no longer make the games I'll inform you in advance.  Social Contract: Name 3 times you are available to play besides Tuesday Nights; in case a change is required: Monday 7-Whenever, Wednesday 7- Whenever, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday maybe free but definitely free by 10:30  What do you feel should be allowed/not allowed in table discussions? How much banter should be tolerated? I'll leave that to you as a DM I'm okay with most anything Where do you draw the line in terms of dark RP? Murder, Rape, Abuse? Is there any line in the sand that would make you, the player uncomfortable? Not sure honestly, I'm willing to find out. What is the expectation around character death? Under what circumstances can it happen/not happen? Death can be as simple as poor rolling or story based. I'm okay with both as long as death is either reversible through laboriously hard work or at the consequence of something or someone else. (Assuming we start at 7PM EST) My limit is probably 4 hours If there is an argument at the table how should we solve it? Example: Stop the game till the problem is solved) Depends on the problem. If the GM and a player disagree – what is the best way to solve this dispute? If it;s over a rule then they should look it up. If it's opinion they should agree to disagree. How long would you like this campaign to go on for/how long can you commit to it? I'm going to say Months and hope for years and some new Pals. To what extent is rule-lawyering allowed during game? Enough to keep the game fair but not so much that we big down the flow of the game. In case of scenes with mechanics: are players allowed to talk and give advice when someone Is making a decision during a scene? If it's done in character or to help a new player in the meta sense. How should we handle players who are late/cannot make a session? An inconsistent player should not receive the same rewards as a player who is there most sessions, If more than x amount of players can't make it we should reschedule the session or plan for a longer one. In what ways can players contribute to the story/setting/Game? Intertwining back stories, Good role play, And DM-Player creativity. Should a TPK (Total Party Kill) be allowed and under what circumstances? Yes, If the party makes poor decisions and we all die based on our own accord it should be a TPK
Update - We are looking for 1 player to join our party of 3 currently. If you are interested - follow the steps above :). Looking forward to have you with us!
Name: Bill Age: 20  Player Motivation: A mix between The Storyteller and The Method Actor. I enjoy getting into my character's head to act them out, as well as enjoy watching consequences unfold for a character and their ability to deal with them Why do you want to join this campaign? : I love World of Darkness and would love to do more with it Background: Alex Liander, male Moros who awoke when he realized death was not the end, will be homeless at the start of the game and has survived harsher months in the past by making use of homeless services, a quick wit and quicker learning Horror: N/A Additional Information: Chronicles of Darkness/WoD2e has quickly become my favorite game line to play, after a tie between Exalted and Current World of Darkness/20th. I'm always looking for a good game if I have the time, and love to do the concepts that people are often shy to do, such as characters who are homeless, characters with strong inner conflicts that actually show repercussions in their actions and day to day life, as well as more light hearted (and often downright heroic) ones. I'm not married to concept just yet, meaning I can easily be convinced to tweak and such, but I would like to play a Moros. That said, if it isn't doable with what you would like, just tell me and I can play just about anything else. A Wretched (Frankenstein) could be fun, or a Anakim or Eshmaki. Social Contract Name 3 times you are available to play besides Tuesday Nights; in case a change is required: Thursdays and Fridays What do you feel should be allowed/not allowed in table discussions? How much banter should be tolerated? Anything at least tangentially related to the game (while playing). Anything else can be brought to PM/Direct Messaging or wait till after the game Where do you draw the line in terms of dark RP? Murder, Rape, Abuse? Is there any line in the sand that would make you, the player uncomfortable? I draw the line where a person is made uncomfortable enough to want to leave the group, as well as allowing Fade To Black to be a thing if consequence can't be avoided. That said, all players and the ST should try and be accomodating with such things, and people should remember that rape and murder and abuse are not nearly as common as media would have us believe, and for the most part people are willing to let things fall away after they get their satisfaction of embarrassing or beating a person without escalating to something worse than a fight. What is the expectation around character death? Under what circumstances can it happen/not happen? It can happen when a character has pissed off another enough that reason is left by the wayside, if a person is cold enough to not care about murder, or if circumstances create a dangerous enough scenario. That said, if there is a chance I am always in favor of giving a player a "Luck" roll to see if someone who is not a player can save them and does so, if the GM hasn't already thought of a plan for their rescue that furthers their own goals within the story. Is it okay for PCs to be comfortable being competitive with each other? To what extent is this okay/not okay? (Examples like PCs killing each other, PCs setting each other up for traps, etc.) Is betraying players allowed? I am okay with it, but I understand others aren't and believe that there should always be reason for antagonism. Again though, see the rule of "Don't make other players not wanna play anymore" since it is a good general judge of what you shouldn't do. What are your wants and desires within the campaign? Drama! Pathos! Creative solutions to complicated problems!  How many hours would you like to play in a single session? (Assuming we start at 7PM EST) Willing to go till midnight EST. If there is an argument at the table how should we solve it? Example: Stop the game till the problem is solved) If Minor: Wait till the game is done for the night If Major: Stop everything, let the people not involved go get snacks or whatever, get the two to talk it out If the GM and a player disagree – what is the best way to solve this dispute? If over rules/setting, the GM has final say If over roleplay of their own character, player has final say. All other cases should be compromise How long would you like this campaign to go on for/how long can you commit to it? As long as the GM is willing to run it and my life allows me to be in it To what extent is rule-lawyering allowed during game? To the extent of the intent of the rules as written. If you get an exceptional success, you get an exceptional success. That doesn't mean that the entire may be solved (Or can) but that does mean that the player has gotten a significant advantage related to the action in question. That said, no using Fate to buff attributes or trying to create recursive/infinite advantages/resources, or similarly destroying the scene. In case of scenes with mechanics: are players allowed to talk and give advice when someone Is making a decision during a scene? To an extent. No giving the Int 1 character the formula for lightspeed unless you've spent time hitting their character over the head with a physics text book. How should we handle players who are late/cannot make a session? 3 strikes you are out, but give a grace period of time to show up if they don't tell that they aren't gonna be there ahead of time (by at least a few hours) In what ways can players contribute to the story/setting/Game? Telling how their character fits into it, playing minor characters associated with their character, creating bits of the setting, or giving details they know about it in real life. Also by occasionally running dramatic scenes where their character is the focus, but not participating. For instance, a Beast playing their Lair and how it interacts with the characters while the Beast isn't home. Should a TPK (Total Party Kill) be allowed and under what circumstances? Yes, but the players should have fucked up and the conditions of player death should be met.
