Placing assets in their default size

Sometimes when I drag and pull the marketplace art assets to the map or images from my computer to the map, they will appear in their proper full size but usually they are like only 3 by 3 squares. How do I make it so they are always automatically sized correctly?

Drag it to the map layer, then move it to the token layer. token layer resizes/changes aspect ration as per the grid size - doesn't do that on the map layer

But it has been doing that on the map layer. Unless I have to turn the grid off.
I believe holding down the ALT key while dragging images to the map retains their native dimensions.
Thanks I'll try that
So far neither gridless not alt and dragging work.
It depends on the dimensions of the original image. It's not something you have control over if you're using marketplace assets.

I've found that the Token Layer with Grid On now seems to be always taking images as 1x1 and the Map Layer With Grid On as 3x3. In both cases for me it will distort the aspect ratio on any image that is rectangle shaped (not square formatted), even with Alt held down (at least since it changed). Try dragging initially on the GM layer and see if that works? Also -- try turning OFF the Grid in your Page settings and then drag it to a Layer and see if that works.  Those who are PRO users, try dragging it onto the Dynamic Light layer (this normally works at the expected aspect ratio for me, just at a very small size). Be sure to right-click and flip it to a visible layer after initially dropping it though, because once you leave the DL layer it will be totally invisible even to GM. DL Layer is the method that I use because it is the only way that works consistently reliably for me on rectangular images.

I have been having this same issue, but it only occurs on assets I have uploaded to my library recently. What I have found is that any 'new' item in my library gets placed onto the map layer as a 200x200 object instead of its native size. However, when I place something I uploaded a couple of years ago it gets placed at its native size. I don't know if something was changed with how images are uploaded to the library, but my old stuff never gives me this problem. Also, items dragged onto the token, GM, and DL layer will always be placed proportionally with 150 pixels as either the width or the height (whichever is bigger in the native size). This is true for both the old and the new assets. To note all of this has been done with the grid turned off. I have tried alt-dragging items onto the map layer, and my newer assets always get resized. Since you are saying only some marketplace assets are doing this, I can only assume they were uploaded after something was changed to have everything imported to the map layer be resized to 200x200. The ones that aren't being resized were probably uploaded before the change. I have no idea if this change was intentional or publicized I am only telling you what I have found because I have been dealing with this issue for a while, and can't seem to find a solution. If someone has one I would love to hear it.

I am also having this problem. I created art using the suggested unit size of 70px for a 20x20 unit image (1400px X1400px), and if i drag it from the art library it appears as a 3x3 unit (210px X 210px) image and i have to resize it to its native size. I've tried the suggestions here, but nothing has fixed this problem. Changing the art manually using "set dimensions" works, but is very frustrating when you can't remember the native unit or pixel size of the artwork.

This is a big problem for me as well. When I drag map tiles onto the map, they're scaled really small, so they have to be resized manually. It would be great to have an option to set the default size for an image in our asset library, so we only have to scale it once. Even better, would be a way to drop them onto the map at recommended native scale (140 pixels per grid unit for the map layer). (I tried alt-dragging, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.) There's already a right-click option in the advanced menu to set dimensions, but there's no indication of what the image's native image dimensions are. Maybe just add that info to that dialog box. Or add a button to "set to native dimensions".

Has there been any news on this? I haven't been able to fix this problem either. I've been creating tiles at the recommended native scale also, and have to rescale each of them in-game. I've found dragging them onto the map from my desktop will place them at actual pixel size, but not from the library.

This.  If I import I have to resize but dragging from desktop to the map the images retain their size.  Very bizarre.
